Do you dip the flowers in glycerin first before dying the flowers? How long do you have to wait for flowers to dry after they've been dipped in glycerin?

Do you soften the flower before you dye them or afterwards?

It's better to do it before. However it can be done after.

@@SolaFlowerUniversity Thank you for the quick response. One more question, is that no mater how you dye them?

@@LizFowler2525 Yes. Without the softening the flowers are very stiff and brittle.

Do you have to soften them often or is it a one time thing? Do they dry and break over time?

One time thing! :) they do not dry and break over time after being softened.

Also, are they light weight? I’m interested in buying 3” and wanted to know if they feel heavy at all.

My daughter wants the natural colors of sola, no paint. Should we use the glycerin anyway?

    • @SolaFlowerUniversity

You will want to dip it in glycerin to help preserve the flowers long term :)

I'm allergic to many chemicals and raw wood. Are these raw? Chemically treated in any way?

You can check with your sola flower supplier, but as far I know they are not chemically treated :)
