honestly one of my favorite parts about this video was how respectful you are with social distancing. you make it VERY clear to other hikers that you are there to ride your bike, not spread covid
Thanks Adza- with the wind and everything in the woods, I don't feel too unsafe, but I just try to give space when it's possible. I'm far more concerned about going indoors, like to the grocery store, than anything on the trails.
Almost all of our trails are loops. There is only one place I ride that I have to remember how to get around the system. That one is the best place to ride so I know it like the back of my hand.
Here in New England, techy climbing is a big thing (at least for me. I love the challenge and sense of accomplishment). This is a revelation to me that a longer travel bike would be a better climber. But between the Ripley and the Mojo 4, which one is the better climber?
do you think a fox 36 140mm would add to it's downhill capability? I just bought one and I'm thinking of selling the 34 as a new takeoff since I'm 200 lbs and will be taking it through chunky northern California terrain, Santa Cruz steeps and mostly bay area trails near me
The rear is a mud hugger and works awesome. The front is an RPR Pro Guard that bolts into the Fox crown, it also works great. Riding in these conditions with fenders is WAY better!
very nice! you always makes this hard trails look easy to ride. Quick question, with ibis sizing when in between sizing like M or L which one is better to get? Thanks
Hahaha right?! I have no idea of Ibis' plans. But following common sense logic, the Ripmo AF came out with the updated geo (and more progressive suspension too), in ~August 2019, then a few months later in ~Feb 20 the Ripmo V2 came out with both those tweaks. I would guess that the Ripley V4, which is coming up on it's third year of sales(2019, 2020, 2021) would get an update at some point. I would guess that a Ripley V5 would follow the lead of the AF, but again, I have ZERO insider insight, and am simply working off historic trends. Would I wait for such a bike? No, with how sold out everything is now, I'd just buy whatever I could find. An Angleset and a volume reducer both work fine.
Jeff, as a mountain biker but always a hiker first thanks for being so considerate of other trail users. Rude mountain bikers, try to be more like Jeff.
Christina, I did a little research and I actually didn't see any conclusive evidence of d ring being safer. It's personal preference. For a big-hit helmet I do trust d-rings a tad more. My Tyrant that I ride with daily uses a quick release and it feels fine. But the switchblade is so much beefier it's a whole different deal. I feel like the mass of the swtichblade requires the beefier buckle.
@@JeffKendallWeed thanks for the reply! I’ve known motorcycle helmets to have them, then my kid’s full face came with one and thought that maybe it was a dual purpose helmet(I wouldn’t use it as such without referring to manufacturer’s documentation). Then I saw you with the switchblade and wondered if I was missing some bit of info. Thanks for taking the time to reply!!
You know it, hahaha! You can probably find one by calling Jenson and seeing if they have any incoming. Often these bikes get inventoried and sold before they ever get marketed.
Thanks for the note- I have not ridden an Optic, but definitely want to try it. Altitude is a whole different class of bike, with a lot more travel. Altitude has 15mm more travel than the Ripley's older brother, the Ripmo.
@@JeffKendallWeed , love your playful videos. I understand that the Altitude is a different beast vs. the short travel trail bikes like the Optic or this Ripley, but you were super enthusiastic about it and claimed it could do it all. My current bike is a Norco Torrent HT with 150mm fork, but toying with the FS idea.
Oh yeah. I get lost all the time. Problem is that I ride with people faster than me, so I’m usually following and don’t pay attention to all the nature. Haha…I guess I need to find slower people to ride with
The video starts at 1:51 so you can skip to that point, before that is just random jabber. ok I take that back, its not a review its all pointless random jabber, if you are looking to learn a bout the Ripley AF, move on, this is not the video for it.
Love you displaying respect, and etiquette to the other trail users Jeff.

Nice video I am so glad you shed light on the PA trails
Thanks Jacob! That was a fun trip!
I remember the first time I took that route up to raptor ridge! Definitely a bit of work compared to the normal route.
Just got a Ripley af and you Def inspire me to ride and get better. You got the life man! Bham and Sedona. Wow! + 1 sub. Cheers.
You are the nicest mtber ever -“heyyyy have a nice day” 😂😂😂
Looks Jurassic....hard work bud ! Be safe and thanks for sharing.
Fun trails on a great new bike. Luv your adventurer spirit!
Thanks Lou- I got a bunch more of these that I'll keep posting, too!
Misty woods look epic, popping out the videos today!

Great trails , love the woods , I’m in uk so tends to be muddy👍
Two videos literally hours apart....Awesome.....correction three videos.
*Three videos
Love the quick fire videos😀
Thanks Ollie. I had a ton of videos ready to go, but am gonna pause before posting more.
Raw footage. Love it!!
Thank you!
I really enjoy your vids Jeff

Very windy on the west coast as of late .. my local trails r closed :(
10:03 this is where you filmed the clip of the hd5 flying away form earth lmao
With your custom build what weight did u get the Ripley AF at?
Just discovered your channel. Love the content, love your riding style. And, damn, you got some skill wow. *new sub*
Thanks Milenko, I appreciate that!

A lot of climbing! What is your camera setup?
Jeff, what fenders are you using, love the full, coverage???

I am going to get it in feb
Congrats Sky!
@@JeffKendallWeed thx
Doing a custom build on a large ripley AF going to do a mullet with a 27 five wheel on the rear. Any input Jeff?
Yep, you're still pretty ok at bikes, Jeff.
Mojo HD AF ? 👀
Great stuff Jeff 🚴 enjoyed the video buddy 😜👌🏴👌 keep rolling the video out 😜 here in UK big lockdown ☹️ 👌🏴👌
Thanks man! Stay tuned, more coming!
Would you mind sharing what gloves you’re wearing and whether the touchscreen compatibility always works? Thx JKW!
I sympathize.
3:11 "Might not be Crossfit enough" 😂
Is it common to have that many trees down in your region this time of year? I noticed a lot down trees in your other video too with the new Ripmo AF.
Jeff, what fenders are those?
What brand of fenders are you using here?
very nice! you always makes this hard trails look easy to ride. Quick question, with ibis sizing when in between sizing like M or L which one is better to get? Thanks
Now I'll wait for the carbon AF!
I dont think they make carbon AF models. I thought the whole thing of AF is that they only come in alloy.

@@JeffKendallWeed you sound like you know something about ibis 😆 🤣 😉
You're not supposed to drink the bong water dude!
Oh I totally appreciate those Jesse Malamed lens wipes as he's going balls out on EWS stages.....legend!
Nice!
Thanks Dave!

What fenders are you running?
Do you get "da Pump" when you squat?
What’s the appeal of D ring closures? I just wind up getting a quick release.

Can you tell me your Gopro Settings?
I just followed Loam Ranger's set up guide. I use a GoPro karma grip and record audio externally, then synch it up when editing.
three uploads poggers?
Might get a fourth up as well... Heck, maybe a fifth!
