Re: drunk driving. I don’t have advice for when a drunk friend drives away. However, if you happen to be in a car with someone who is driving erratically and speeding and under the influence, often times, pleading with them to stop just makes the situation worse. Advice I’ve been given is to immediately tell them you need to puke and they will almost always pull over. It sounds strange but I had to do that once and it worked. It removed me from the situation and it made everyone snap out of how dangerous they were acting.
Great comment 👍 glad u had that great gut instinct & logical simple thought, & it worked and u are all safe & even seemed to calm the driver , In a moment of panic and stress these normal and simple thoughts are unlikely thought of, (but seeing it now in a comment )as simple as this seems ,it could be someone's first thought now if ever unfortunate enough to be in such horrible scary situations 😀 Sounds stupid, but I'd remember this comment now before ever thinking of how to stop the car logically before seeing this . Now seeing this , it makes it seem so simple , I dunno sounds odd but hope it makes sense lol ❤

Every time I see a creator cover Adrienne's story - I always make the same comment: I knew and was friends with Adrienne in middle school. She was so much more than just a victim. She was fantastic at math, her MySpace page was perfect, she had the funniest most infectious laugh, and she loved her dad so much.
I just want to thank you guys for taking the time to acknowledge the devastation of drunk driving. So many creators gloss over it and even excuse it, when it’s a great opportunity to condemn it(without condemning the person as a whole.) Today marks 25 years that my childhood best friend’s brother and sister were killed by a drunk driver, at only 8 & 10 years old. Unbelievably, she too was killed by a drunk driver 5 years later at 16. Cansus, Savannah, and Cliffy Scheck. 💔💔💔
i think that short clip of Adrienne’s dad’s interview is probably one of the most heartbreaking things i’ve seen on a podcast to date. i genuinely cannot imagine the pain.
It's alarming to me that the taxi driver had a hacksaw in the trunk of his vehicle (and even made a show about "How did this get here?!" in front of passengers) and Adrian's body was found in the condition that it was. I wonder if police ever followed up on the passenger report, located and tested the saw (unless I missed that detail)?! Also the way he asks the officers whether they've found her made my stomach plummet. Whatever the case, I hope the truth comes to light very soon; Adrian's family deserve answers.
Was going to say that, first thought was cash, then if she was a smoker cigarettes or even just some snacks. Also did she want to walk back past her car perhaps
I was thinking that too or maybe she just didn’t want to pay the extra it would’ve cost for them to get her from where she was. Maybe walking to the gas station would’ve saved her a few extra bucks, combined with maybe needing to get the cash, makes me wonder. I know there have been times when I was younger that I would walk to a certain point because taxes have this “ invisible line “ within each city that if you cross, it’s just a little bit more depending on where you are. Anyway, you are definitely on to something with the ATM/ needing the cash.
My thoughts was honestly that maybe it was simple as she wanted an energy drink or soda. 🤷If I was up that long and about to go have an important conversation, as well as sober up id want a red bull lol.
Do taxis not have card facilities in the USA? I'm sure I paid by card in a cab, at least when I was in NYC anyway? I'm Australian that's why I ask. All our taxis have card facilities. ❤🇦🇺
It's better to call the police and have your friend get a DUI instead of getting killed and killing someone innocent too. Call an Uber or call your parents.
I’ve not seen nearly as much hate for Ian, probably cause he’s a dude. Julia was pretty and funny, people seriously only disliked her because she’s a woman.
I live in the phoenix area and the amount of people who go missing, especially women, is unbelievably scary. It is an epidemic that seems to be pushed under the rug. So many people and children have gone missing never to be seen again or found in the desert. As a young woman myself, living in this area is very unnerving. Also, the amount of drunk drivers in phoenix is crazy too. Please report any possible drunk drivers for it can save someone’s life ❤️
I lost my brother and sister from driving under the influence and I wish everyday someone would have called and my sister got a DUI.... I'm not mad at anyone for not doing it because I also understand but I sooo wish someone would have ... I miss them both and still cry almost every day even after 10 years
I'm still stuck on the way the police gave up when T-Mobile wouldn't release the cellphone data that they had a WARRANT for. I've never heard of the cops giving up on a possible lead when they have a warrant. Maybe we're not getting the full story, here. At least that's what I hope. If they really just gave up on that I must say they are not really interested in solving this case at all. And with some other fishy details I feel that's likely the situation.

We had a friend we knew had a tendency to want to drive home once he’d been drinking so we would hide his keys at the beginning of the night, it’s definitely more difficult to take keys from someone when they’re drunk and potentially aggressive.
I do lean towards this being a complete stranger, Adrienne's behavior that night was already so erratic and it's clear she was desperate to get back to her bf's place that I can see her getting into a strangers car especially if she noticed that she had forgotten her wallet and thus wouldn't have been able to pay for the cab.
Love you guys and all of your shows. Everything you touch turns to gold. Your entire team is so empathetic, kind, intelligent, and ethical. I appreciate all of your hard work. ❤
AM PM is a huge human trafficking/violent crime magnet. Alot of truckers are told not to stop at certain locations of theirs while hauling stuff. Just food for thought. Larger gas stations near freeways as well as truck stops are really sketchy places nowadays.
Course the police are interested in solving cases . Some take years to solve and there are thousands upon thousands to solve still cold cases to this day. They do all they can behind closed doors to solve cases ...it's not an easy job

Hope Janelle is okay. Drunk driving should never happen. I had an ex who would drive with a beer in plain sight in the car. I would follow him home from his friend's band practice and he would be swerving, but of course deny it. People can be so defensive with their drinking which makes it exponentially more dangerous.
I live only a few miles from where she was found and it’s so wild to realize I drove past that area for so long not knowing someone’s body laid there years before. Just eerie to think about since it’s such a dark and desolate desert in that area and that long stretch of road was pure darkness.

7:27 valley fever… while it’s not normally deadly it’s a VERY SERIOUS, hard on the body and can takes a long time to heal. There is no medication that treats the infection, it only suppresses it. Meaning the body has to fight the infection on its own. Both my dogs contracted valley fever and my frenchie went from 32lbs to 18lbs 😢 he was on meds for almost 2 years before he cleared it. It can also congregate in an area of the body and cause pain/harm that area of the body. I live 15 min outside of Phoenix. I had no idea how serious it was until both my dogs got it.
15:39 most of the police that came to my high school (this was about 6 years ago) have said they won’t press charges on your for drinking under age if you call to report a friend for trying to drive drunk, it is still a very very hard thing to do but for anyone who is under age and happens to see this please keep that in mind when you find yourself in these situations

It's a rough time to come of age - cost of living is soaring, and we're basically in a depression - be there for her during these uncertain times! There's lots of youth left, yet, to enjoy!
i move into college next week and it’s always ever been my parents and i because im an only child. i am not ready and im praying im able to get through the move in 🫣🫣
I understand your daughter, it’s daunting to be an adult right now. Being able to own a house, get married, have kids, and pay for medical expenses seems impossible for the youngest generation. Be there for her and understand that she’s growing up in a much tougher and isolated world, hopefully the tides will shift and these basic milestones will be attainable again.
Her dad talking about her last moments had me crying, so heartbreaking to hear a father so broken and scared. I can't blame them at all for not wanting to talk to media as much, its not always helpful and not always kind
Yall think yall could do a story about The Lost Dutchmans Gold in Arizona? It's basically a story about how the Lost Dutchman hid his gold in the Superstition Mountains in Arizona, and anyone who tries to go find it, either end up missing, vanished in thin air, or being unalived in mysterious ways
As someone who grew up in AZ and watches a lot of true crime, it’s horrifying to learn about this case taking place in my hometown and the injustice for Adrienne’s family 😢
Ugh... about the zombie in the back seat... now if you drove around all the time w a zombie in the back and everyone knows thay, who's gonna look twice if theres a second "zombie"??? Could just drive around brazen w the body sitting up full "zombie" mode...
21:24 She probably never made it back to the apt, she probably changed her clothes at the apt at the same time she got home and packed her overnight bag, then left and was in the accident and walked to the gas station and tried calling him from there the 32 times for him to come pick her up because her car was wrecked.
I live in the valley in California. Valley fever is a norm here but, is still viewed very seriously. Many people who get it have to be in the ICU attached to ventilators for a bit until their lungs are strong enough to function on their own again. A handful of people have died from it that I know as well. I havent had valley fever but I have be very ill and bedridden for months. This 19 year old was a very strong woman to brave her way through that.
Thank you guys for all you do! Ypu truly TRULY make a difference for the missing as well as for victims. Love you all! So just in case no one has told you in the last few minutes THANK YOU GUYS!❤❤❤
It’s horrible that he ignored her, who knows if it would’ve made a difference. I’m sure the guilt is horrible for her boyfriend. 32 times… even if it was her being “crazy” that’s too many times not to at least answer once, what if something really was wrong.
I've been with an obsessive dude who would call too many times to monitor and control what I did and who I saw. I stopped picking up and left him. Sometimes it's dangerous to pick up...
LOL he was sleeping? He had no idea she was planning on coming back over. He had already dropped her off at home and made sure she got home safe by talking to her roommates.
In my late teens in the 90s, taxi imposters were a huge problem. Women were being assaulted by fake taxi drivers who had intercepted taxi orders over radio. Then the fake taxis would turn up pretending to be the taxi that you had ordered. This happened to me once and I almost got in the fake taxi, but my friends stopped me, a split second later the REAL taxi turned up
Umm no I had a friend who tried to drive drunk from this party our mutual friend had thrown. So many people, myself included, got involved in taking her keys away. And guess what. We got her keys and she didn't go anywhere. Walking or otherwise. She was intoxicated, we were all intoxicated, but we love her and taking care of her was top priority.
Could you guys talk about the found identity of the Somerton man? That one has been an intriguing case for a very long time. You guys have an incredible podcast! The details they found on his life are so fascinating.
You're right in saying that sometimes investigations are working in the background. It's happened a few times where we've all thought everyone has given up when there's suddenly been an arrest. The Delphi murders is one that comes to mind.
Yes, call the police. Tell your friend if they drive drunk, you’re calling their family, then the police. If they choose to go after that- then call their family, then the police. Your friend would me mad. Your friend would be alive. My dad died in a drunk driving accident. He was a GM for a restaurant, got called in on his day off, made it to work, but didn’t make it back an hour later. He had had several drunk driving accidents in his life- he was a functioning alcoholic. Most of the time he didn’t drive. He got drunk at the house or the lake, whatever. But this time, he was called into work over an issue, and he lost his life because he was drinking.
I’m so devastated, I’ve never heard of Adrienne and I’m an ASU alumnus from PHX. Tempe has always been a second home. I hate that this is the first I’m hearing of her story, but it’s certainly not the last that I’ll share it. I’ve never had much faith in the Tempe PD, ASU PD even less, but I’m really hoping something will pull through
I went to ASU and lived in Tempe at the time of her disappearance, and still live not too far away. I’ve never heard of her case, and I am into true crime. That makes me really sad.
FYI -Brian has been sentenced to death for the canal murders. I went to ASU and lived in Tempe at the time of her disappearance, and still live not too far away. I’ve never heard of her case, and I am into true crime. That makes me really sad. Thank you for giving her case the attention it deserves
I don't care about ruining someone's early adult life with a DUI as much as I care about protecting everyone else innocently on the road without knowledge of who they'e on it with.
Ok at first I’m thinking shady cab driver for sure but after knowing how close other person was to her I’m really torn. Cab guy was saying some very strange things & terribly defensive. Hopefully the police are still really investigating for this family. My heart breaks for them. No parent should ever have to bury their child.
I have been an avid listener of this channel, but as a Law Enforcement Officer, I truly believe this is the 1st positive statement made about LEA made, so thank you Josh!!
With peace and love, Josh has definitely made positive statements about law enforcement before! When the cops actually do their job correctly. Unfortunately a lot of these cases LEA just drop the ball.
Janelle and Kendall both just look so beautiful recently! They’ve always been gorgeous but something must be in the water over there cause they’re glowing! Love this podcast, all the podcasts actually! Lights out and the sesh are great too! I always have to watch. Thank you guys for all you do.
I really feel the investigator needs to be looked into. It just seems odd how uninterested he is. Why is this? And thanks for covering drunk driving. Both my parents were killed by a drunk driver when I was 7 years old. Life has been so hard without them. And there's a lot that happened there too. The judge was the ladies aunt and she ended up never doing anytime for killing my parents. But then 2 weeks later while drunk driving killed another person. She then only received 2 years
@MileHigher as soon as I heard it, I had to restart the episode just to make sure it wasn't anyone I knew. Already had 1 distant relative that was a killer, don't want any others
Just a small request... Please let people know that it's dangerous for ANYONE to go walking alone at night. I live in a community where even men are unaccounted for. Men who know how to fight and protect themselves. A friend was trained in martial arts and he's been missing for about 4 years now. It can literally happen to anyone. Also as far as the T Mobile thing I call bullshit. They can't just ignore a release request from cops. I think that's the cop who decided witness account wasn't important enough to dive into. Just my opinion.
Brian is super scary…grocery shopping in cosplay with the fake zombie in the back and the meme really freaks me out…no issues with cosplay, that’s just too much!
Maybe after a while, since she explained she was on foot headed there and to meet, he drove down where she would be coming, and got her, where her intoxication would have been most apparent attempting to walk after the accident. Wouldnt be surprised if she was already unconcious when he drove by. Not a ton of people up around 4/5 and around tempe she would be passed up possibly as a beggar or ne'er do well passed out @@bmac375

My daughter turns 18 today and just said she doesn’t want to be 18 and a grown up. She never has wanted to get older and grow up
It's a rough time to come of age - cost of living is soaring, and we're basically in a depression - be there for her during these uncertain times!
Teach your kids to stay away from alcohol!!! Ruins lives
21:24 She probably never made it back to the apt, she probably changed her clothes at the apt at the same time she got home and packed her overnight bag, then left and was in the accident and walked to the gas station and tried calling him from there the 32 times for him to come pick her up because her car was wrecked.
except het car keys were at the apartment
And her car keys walked back to the apartment without her? Okayyyy
@@jypsy8499they might have commented before that part was revealed, the attitude feels a little unnecessary
It actually was not her car keys. It was her house keys. Sorry we didn’t make that clear.
@@jypsy8499 Boom!💥
"He's the only one for me." is the most toxic thing I have experienced or observed in my whole life. 🍀
She was so young and beautiful. Defiantly sending prayers and love to the family.
Thank you for another episode!! Love the work you guys put in❤️
Appreciate the support!
Her father breaks my heart.. My elders always used to tell me Never go back outside once you've gotten home after a night out.
I just wanted to say you both are looking so fit 👍🏻😍you guys are glowing!
I’ve never heard of this. It’s shocking. Can’t believe this isn’t more well known.
He could’ve been sleeping and had volume turned off
@@StephanieLahan very true.
@@StephanieLahanI believe that he was it was so late already
Youre all amazing, you just never know whose life you may have saved, including your friend ❤
But walking is also dangerous these days
I'm sad this will go unsolved, her poor family.. prayers to her dad.. she will always be his beautiful angel
Love hearing from the whole team! It’s so refreshing. God rest her soul.
Love the respect and care Mile Higher discusses cases with. ❤
Could you guys talk about the found identity of the Somerton man? That one has been an intriguing case for a very long time. You guys have an incredible podcast! The details they found on his life are so fascinating.
Just want to say I LOVE the four of y'all together SO much!!! It really is a whole vibe, sending lots of love from Alabama❤
The whole Mile Higher team is fabulous I just love you guys ♥♥♥♥
My favorite podcast. Ive been watching Kendall since her 1st . Episode. Keep up the amazing work. ❤
A genuine thank you for the for forewarning of the sensitive topic
I’m so devastated, I’ve never heard of Adrienne and I’m an ASU alumnus from PHX. Tempe has always been a second home. I hate that this is the first I’m hearing of her story, but it’s certainly not the last that I’ll share it. I’ve never had much faith in the Tempe PD, ASU PD even less, but I’m really hoping something will pull through
I went to ASU and lived in Tempe at the time of her disappearance, and still live not too far away. I’ve never heard of her case, and I am into true crime. That makes me really sad.
@@jayli53 im really glad we know now but still
FYI -Brian has been sentenced to death for the canal murders.

I don't care about ruining someone's early adult life with a DUI as much as I care about protecting everyone else innocently on the road without knowledge of who they'e on it with.
Wait how would His Ex know this information and NOT TELL AUTHORITIES ASAP!?! WTF..IDC.. that's too specific to Not to tell someone!
Ok at first I’m thinking shady cab driver for sure but after knowing how close other person was to her I’m really torn. Cab guy was saying some very strange things & terribly defensive. Hopefully the police are still really investigating for this family. My heart breaks for them. No parent should ever have to bury their child.
Hey folks, hope all is well ❤😊
You guys have the best voices. Just listening while I work 😊
I just wanted to say.. not related to this video but that Snake plant behind you is FRIGGIN AWESOME!!!
She then only received 2 years
PLEASE tell your kids that they can always, always call you for a ride with no questions asked no matter what time it is or where they are.
That cop seems super suspicious to me.
31:45 OMG. My parents AUTO shop is called B&S ENTERPRISE Tire and Auto in Lancaster, NY. BS stands for my parents names of BOB & SUE. 😂😂
Hahahaha omgggg
😄😄
@MileHigher as soon as I heard it, I had to restart the episode just to make sure it wasn't anyone I knew. Already had 1 distant relative that was a killer, don't want any others
I’m offended that I’ve been watching this channel for years and I just noticed I wasn’t subscribed!!! ✅ subscribed an notifications on
As someone who 911 dispatched for 7 years and observed 2 years ...all I can say is we've never been denied records. 🤷.
Always love getting a notification from you guys ❤️
i started crying when the dad spoke 🥺
This happened about 10 minutes from my house. This and Mercedes Vega were not far apart. There are so many predators around this area because of ASU.
They did mention it’s dangerous for **anyone** to walk alone if you listened to all of it
Brian is super scary…grocery shopping in cosplay with the fake zombie in the back and the meme really freaks me out…no issues with cosplay, that’s just too much!
Dude freaked out about a cheek swab, he did it.
And the hacksaw incident with the grand canyon couple...oh hell nah.
But he was parked up at the gas station and she was never seen getting in his cab.
I was just rewatching the Joann Romain episode and you posted. Yay!
Can you all do the case of Mexican young woman Debanhi Escobar?
Tempe is also a huge hotspot for trafficking which is also something to always consider.
I live in Tucson and I had valley fever. My leg swelled three times the size and I couldn’t walk. It was horrible. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Ian and Janelle together are money. They are the chemistry you all needed. Missing piece for sure!
