Money-making opportunity: wait until workers strike in an industry that is very stratified. Then, start a new company to "compete" and use all of that now striking talent. Wait a few months until outside talent gets uber-desperate, they all sign agreements, and you sell your company to the highest bidder.
Totally orignal strategy, only takes your entire life to get right

Atrioc talking about Japan inflation, but pretty sure it's lower than in the US. The Japan Rail Pass thing also has nothing to do with inflation as it's a tourism measure that was in the past used to increase tourists. They have more than enough tourists now so no need to keep the price low. Only foreign nationals with a tourism visa are allowed to buy the rail pass (and as such the price increase has no effect on locals).
True that the economy is in a worrying state though. Would love a more deep analysis if he ever has time as Japan's economy problems are quite complex!

It doesnt make people 'brainwashed'. I am an ambitious person that benefits from individual bargaining rather than relying on a union-set baseline. That said, most/many of the people I work with or who work for me perhaps should be with unions, but that presupposes the unions work, I see very little evidence of that here in Australia. No doubt major union action has led to positive workplace outcomes, but that doesnt mean average people need to be paying union dues during 'peace time' in their industry where conditions and pay are acceptable.
