Figured out I had OCD about two years ago. Checking type, but it’s brutal. Glad Sean is sinking his teeth into this, he loves to chew the Eff outta topics. Appreciate his willingness to lay his issues out and mine some laughs too.
Sean Patton is like if Jack Black did comedy instead of music & acting. Sean’s style is unique & always has me rolling every time he puts out a new video. Can’t wait to see this man’s future.
Omg was diagnosed with OCD earlier this year but I had no idea this was a way it affected other people, for my compulsions, I do them for no reason except for the intense feeling of doom I get if they’re not done correctly. I only have a few compulsions that have reason but those are the most stressful ones. This video actually helped me understand OCD outside of myself a lot
I was aware that I had it as a child, but it wasn’t until a couple of years ago that my psychiatrist noticed it was very very much still there. I also quite luckily and thankfully don’t have the ritual for specific consequence type, but rather incredibly obsessive and the compulsions I do have are unrelated and generally a need to assert control, and as you succinctly said, if I don’t adhere to my compulsions for whatever reason there is an intense feeling of doom and vague but serious consequence. It’s definitely got better with me understanding more about the disorder and with medication, but it’s still a definite hurdle.
Sean, you are awesome. If I turn something down, like a radio or channel, I have to go down by one extra and back up one. Everything has to end on going up.
When the world locked down the first time, I had a slight calm with my OCD at first, maybe even some feeling of control because everyone else was going stir crazy unable to deal with it, and it was my time to help them because I've been suffering with ocd for a decade before the pandemic. That quickly wore off when people wanted to leave the bubble and go into danger. I still can't get groceries without it being disinfected or dumped out of the package. Even then, it's hard for me to want to eat anything. OCD sucks
Crying, thank you. Boldly not picking which fork is the safest to eat my meatloaf to stop something terrible from happening, not even looking at the dang fork
Its not widely known that what most people think is OCD isn't OCD, but OCPD- Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. Its a Personality Disorder first and Obsessive Compulsiveness second. Although its compulsiveness is not pathological unlike real OCD. Anytime you hear someone say "im so OCD" or "its just my OCD" and say it as though its some kind of 'specialty', talent or a quirk that they have, its OCPD. Its always said in some relatively positive way or light. And they always love letting everyone know how about it, and how 'OCD' they are (a Personality Disorder trait). People with OCPD get somewhat of an enjoyment from it. Actual OCD is the living hell one, the bad one. People with OCD would never wish it on their worst enemies, its void of any enjoyment, to the extent of pretty much being a psychosis of sorts of compulsion. Compulsion is the not being able to stop doing the action, like washing your hands over and over till they're bleeding sort of thing. The fear of the germs is the Obsession, they not being able to stop is the Compulsion. Also OCD is medicated, and as far as im aware OCPD isnt. At least for the condition itself.
I have control-oriented OCD, rituals and behaviours to avoid certain things or maintain control so everything is predictable. Every table must be cleared and the floors must have open space, to avoid things falling or you falling. That’s a big one for me, clearing off surfaces several times a day!

He perfectly described how living with OCD feels. 😅

OCD sucks
The step on a crack joke was like Final Destination 5 😂
Watched the whole special on Peacock, laughed so hard the neighbors came to check on me! (Also, I cried at one point)
Sean Patton is easily one of the best comedians working right now! Been a huge fan for a while now!
Agreed. Listened to his 3 albums on spotify dozens of times
U make good shit, Sean
After a really bad ocd day, I went looking for a little on theme comedy about it and I was not disappointed.
Here because of English Teacher, what a vibe on this guy
Legendary
Did he just come up with a whole bit just to use “toilet-teering?” Respect.
saw you live in 2018, you were the best comic on the night. only getting better
Crying, thank you. Boldly not picking which fork is the safest to eat my meatloaf to stop something terrible from happening, not even looking at the dang fork
Hilarious - I have OCD and yes! I love the one, "At best we're all under the weather!"
Amazing. Best comedian evah...
I wouldn't inflict such mindfuckery to my worst enemy, let alone a child created with love by my own image. 👀👏😂
