B3 I Chose 3H over 3C as I had pretty much denied any support up to that point, ended in 4H, that came in with the helpful CK lead (the CK is always singleton btw, the rabbi told me) B5 I temporised with 3H over 2H, then 4C over 3NT and 6C over 4D response. Cold for +1. I passed out B6 but was surprised N let it go. B8 25% for 4H+1 seemed a bit harsh.
Hugh Kelsey wrote a great little book on match-point bridge and I remember his advice, If you are thinking about bidding a slam don't, bid only the slams you don't need to think about. He then explained that unless over half the room is in the slam you will get some matchpoints if you play in game and a near zero if you bid slam that goes down Board 1 I was lucky I rebid a pathetic 2 hearts shameful bid but robot west bid 3 clubs! showing clubs and spades, robot east then bid 3 spades and my partner X we take 5 tricks 100% bad bidding great result .. same with board 3, 1D 1H 1NT 2C passed out made 11 but 92% when all the 3Ns go down, I was surprised you bid 1 spade which sounds a bit 5 4ish Board 6 is worth close inspection. Question.. Is there any logic in opening a weak 2 in 4th seat?. Maybe because if north opens 1 spade he will never be playing there he will have to bid 2 spades anyway and opps might find a fit. so it looks like either pass, or bid 2 spades otherwise you will have to make a 3rd round guess because either opps will come in or partner will rescue and you end up in 3 spades. So maybe pass or bid 2 spades and save the last guess
Always nice when you don't get punished for a mistake but actually get rewarded as it makes me focus more. Board 3, I agree that 1S should be 5-4'ish and more of an unbalanced hand - that's the style I like but the robots play that 1NT denies 4S. Board 6 I like opening 2's in 4th position to be about 10-13 with 6 card suits, not weak 2's but not too strong. I would open 2S with the 9 count as I don't want to open 3 and get my partner excited but I believe its our hand. That is some good advice about the slams - I wasn't really thinking about it until my partner put me in slam and then I thought I had bid normally and got to a good slam and then punished, severely.
I also like the shape showing 1S rebid, but as PH says I learnt the hard way that the robots take that as denying 4 spades and often put you back into a minor, at MPs particularly you have to play their card.
I wonder why BBO doesn't allow claims if one isn't on lead.
