@@TheMiningProbe He opened 1NT on hand 1 with 14HCP and no texture other than a five card suit. I opened 1S here and ended up defending 2CX. It was a good score but it would have been a near top if not for a slight error on trick 11.
@@jyutzler his style is to add 1 point for a 5 card suit. It is a good 5 card suit with 98 and it is all aces and Kings, I'd open that 1NT playing with humans too
@@TheMiningProbe I hear you, but in 3rd position and it being spades, I didn't see the point. In first position or if it was any other suit, I would have opened 1NT.
Board 2 is wierd. I had similar auction (1d-dbl-pass-3c-pass-3s-pass-4s-all pass), and exactly the same play. On heart lead and first look at the dummy I had the sam tought - all points must be with east. Then on third round of trumps east (first pitch) throws away a club... This is odd. Let's look at the bidding again. We are missing 10 diamonds and west didn't bid, this suggests that west has some balanced hand, with 5+ diamonds he would preempt on some level, so he probably has 4 diamonds, with 3 spades, and 3 or four hearts (east opened 1d, with 5 hearts he would open 1h, even with longer diamonds as hand is too weak), which leaves room for three clubs. It is not unreasnoble to assume that east would open with xx AQxx KJTxxx x. Looking at clubs again, now I am missing Qxx, no way east pitched club from Q9xx (opposed to KJTxx in dummy, he must know I hold the ace) as a first pitch, why would he give away sure club trick? And I play the ace of clubs... Looking at the board I think no human would pass with west's hand, especially white vs red. 5d after dbl or 1s looks like bid most would make, and indeed 5d is good defence with down 3 = 500 for the opps
Isn’t it the standard UA-cam survey music ? You could always record that next time UA-cam asks you to upgrade, and play it just before starting Pete’s incredibly good videos.
Loved it!
Did you not notice on board 1 they pitched JS, giving you a chance to play low at trick 12
Nice bidding to save yourself from disaster on 5! I just guessed 6D over 4S on the same bidding and partner corrected me to 6S which went down 12
Same, though I made 7 more tricks than you (-5) and still got a bottom 😂
The freaking robot kept bidding all the way to 7 spades after I kept bidding diamonds for zero percent.
I'm so glad you upgraded board 1 to 1NT. I learned that trick from you and did the same thing! :)
3. I think this is a mandatory 1NT opener against the bots (not against humans). Here you take the same 6 tricks and score better.
I agree, but Pete doesn't usually like to exploit robots and do things like this

You could walk the dog hoping
to get doubled in some number of diamonds
5. Glad I just bid 5D here. There's no chance the bots are bidding after that and the humans I play with wouldn't either.
hi Pete
on board 6, why aren't you bidding 2S after parter's 2D relay?
It's generally better to show a balanced hand. Save the 2S bid for when you have shortage somewhere or 6+ cards.
I try and preferentially show a balanced hand. I'm not too worried about missing a 5-3 fit.

Why don't you play your intro music anymore, my wife always knew when I was playing bridge when she heard it :)
Agree, the music was great.

Would someone post the bidding for hand 8 please? The UA-cam graphics obscured where it is usually shown. Thanks!
