Hi. My name is Gail..I am in Orlando/Winter Park, FL area. It’s now 9/24 of 2024.. have a friend who moved up there about eight years ago. And I am enjoying this video to see more of what it is that she loves about the area. With all the weird craziness going on about Ohio, and the election..and me, being a radical political junkie who is crazy about truth and kindness, this was just what I needed this a,m. I am a musical rock and roller and everything else also. And hoping to make the trip up there sometime before I croak to get to the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Thank you for the lovely tour. As I said, a good morning watch.. peace and blessings to you and yours. Be safe. We need each other. And I’m a cat lady .. damn straight. 🙀🙀🙀😎🙀🙀🙀💙
I was born and raised in Lorain Ohio and joined the Army after graduating high school to escape poverty. Anyone who thinks Lorain is a nice place to live needs to get out more often. I live in Washington State now. Most of downtown Lorain was shut down the last time I visited. They shut down the shipyards and turned it into a strange park. They knocked down historic buildings like Lorain High School that gave the city character.
i agree. grew up here, and i will never look back. don't know why this lady is promoting fligners meat as a selling point for this city. the video shows me NOTHING has changed in the past 35 years. they put up a sign that says broadway. big deal.
Same I grew up there watched everything close ! Joined the army in 2000 and never been back ! Live in Florida now ! I visit every once and a while and it just seems worse when ever I do !
I grew up there and had great memories. Moved to Alabama when my dad transferred from US Steel. Go back every now and then (love my family) but thank God I was raised for the most part in Alabama.
If your a real native from Lorain!....you will fully understand that if you take about 1 or 2... Left hand turns off of Broadway?!....You are in a different world!💯
Been living in Lorain damn near my whole life this is somewhere you don't want to raise a child. Too much drugs too much crime not a lot of jobs unless you want to work at a restaurant or grocery store. But Lakeview Beach is the prettiest thing about Lorain that's it!
@@maxtthew440 Lorain look very beautiful to an outsider. Don't drive around the outskirts of Lorain actually go into the city. Try 22nd 23rd and 24th Street. Try Fillmore Circle. Try a lot of the streets on the Southside LOL. Ninety-nine percent sure you hit up downtown and West Erie that's the most beautiful parts of Lorain
I'm so sorry to hear that! Just like any other urban city, Lorain does have it's bad spots, but there are plenty of nice neighborhoods in Lorain and I am hopeful that the revitalization of the downtown area continues and expands!
I live out here in New Russia Township near South Amherst where we still use septic systems. Its still rural, open farm fields...well at least for now. The old sandstone quarries sit vacant. This is the last year for South Amherst school-a building over 100 years old. We still don't know its future use or tear down? But I think inevitably sewer systems will be installed in the area, more development will occur, and the quiet quaint town of South Amherst will be no more.
We still own my husband's property on Clark Ln in Russia Twp...take our bikes to the bike trail every chance we get then stop at the Feve for some grub and a beverage! Thanks for watching!!
@@stephenbrand5661 yep the Feve, Gibsons Bakery. Oberlin College, what a unique place huh? We used to say, “only In Oberlin.” If you saw something weird on Tappan Square for example or strange in town you’d say…well, “only in Oberlin!” Lol!
Thanks for the video. I applied for housing there back in December, checked out the beach. Too cold at the time but I'm guessing the summers are better. With any luck I will be moving there soon.
Lorain't ohio making a comeback. Have you seen the census numbers? The number should be going up greatly with people reproducing. Instead they're going down anything in ohio you need to get out of there
So who is living in $300k plus priced homes in this community? Where do they work, what kind of income potential is there?? When I left Lorain in 82 (former U S STEEL employee), there wasn't too many people who could pay the rent, let alone homes in this price range.
Firstly,my apologies for last nights hot dog heaven dinner invitation, although it still stands,I just got a bit over exited! And thank you for showcasing Lorain, this is my home, and I am proud of it. Please go to the Ariel hotel,in its hallways and rooms are the most stunning photos of Lorain’s glory days. I could tell you the most amazing stories! I spent my entire stimulus check at the Ariel hotel.
Although I'm giving away my age, you should have seen Lakeview beach in the late 60's to the mid 70's - nothing but hippies and motorcycle gangs. Finally in the 80's they cleaned it up.....
Left Lorain to go to college......couldn't wait to get the hell out and start my life. I only go back to visit my parents. 28th Street (South side) is dead....it was never a pretty sight as it was filled with bars...but at least it was thriving up until about the mid 80's (at best). Now it looks abandoned.... Other parts of the town aren't impressive either. Good luck on finding a decent job there......It's been worse since the Ford plant shut down....
It's cheap living....I wouldn't buy a 300K house there........West side of Lorain used to have 200K houses. South side is cheap living.....Best bet is to buy a cheap house in Lorain (in a decent neighborhood) and work in Amherst, Elyria, Sheffield, Avon , etc. where there are more jobs....
I use to live in Lorain Ohio only an idiot would invest or live there. I moved two years later. I moved there from Detroit, I would rather live in Detroit.

why don't u show us south lorain or the east side with filmore circle and the projects that are not near the lake?

lol...she's just trying to sell houses. If someone buys a house in lorain, then they'll realize the truth.
Lorain is trying to revitalize itself. There are new developments in Lorain that are in the Amherst school district.
I've been living here for 40 years. It may start to look pretty but reality is nothing will change.

It looks like a fairly large city. Is the steel plant gone?
The steel plant has been idle since 2016, and they thought about restarting, but no. They seem to be trying to sell it now.
Lorain got hit when Midway Mall was built. It took Sears Penny's
It sure did! Thanks for watching!!

its exactly 25 miles from downtown lorain broadway to downtown cleveland public square and actually its only 21 miles from border to border.

I guess Sheffield, Sheffield Lake, Avon, Avon Lake, Vermilion, 19 other school districts don't count?

Most people wit big money work in Cuyahoga County. Lorain county is more like a bedroom community for Cleveland-area

Avoid lorain all together

Hi Patty, what area in Cleveland proper gets the most snow? 😂 I want to buy there.
🤣
The east side of Cleveland actually gets twice as much snow as the west side because of the lake effect.
