When I first saw the user interface of the Korg Triton Rack I thought, “How am I ever going to figure out how to sequence with this thing”? Then I discovered how the device’s functionality was organized using “Modes”. That unlocked the mystery and got me going. I wanted to share this information with you in the hopes that it might help anyone who might be frustrated or need more insight using this feature rich, and powerful sound module.

Man....you're so deep and thorough with explaining how this sampler works that I had the impression that you worked designing it!...Thanks a bunch!

I have decades in as a musician, systems administrator, full-stack programmer and other geeky stuff. This is perhaps one of the best explanations of the complexity that the device provides.
I recently purchased the Triton Rack to join my TX802, MOxf6, Integra-7, Kurzweil K2000R, Korg 01/rW (i think), Ns5r, and Komplete Kontrol S49 with Komplete Ultimate 12. I have gotten most over the years as I like different sound creation models and hope to combine them in my sound design + composing. I am keenly interested in the expansion and interoperability of these and from the rack behind you, I am talking to a kindred spirit. :)
Currently using Logic and ProTools on Mac with either the Apollo Arrow or the UR22 mkii, though with the numerous audio outputs from the devices and a handful of guitars or mic'd instruments, I am considering some form of switchable patchbay to aggregate up to any 12 mono channels concurrently with 1-3 switches to define separate 12 pack from up to 48 mono line level inputs. In an RV, I have neither the money or the inclination to get a 48 channel board, but may go for a rack 12-16 channel board that receives feeds from several MG10xu (or similar) mixers and also considered the SSL 6 to receive the feeds from the mixers, but I believe that the Arrow gives me the inbound compression that I need with the Unity plugins and mic pre's for recording mic'd guitars and the like.
I go into the detail that I have to give ideas as you start the channel, ask if you have ideas about the same, or know of resources who address similar things.
regardless, your presentation will keep me coming back and I wish you all the success in the world!

Yes, it sounds like we do have a lot in common. I really like your sound module array. Lots of power, personality and flavor. I don’t know what I would do without my MIDI and audio patch bays. They keep my environment connected, flexible, and allow me to smoothly work my process from initial composition all the way to FMD. It sounds like you’ve got a lot going on as well in a complex and strong configuration. I think you might agree that it’s sweet to be able to produce and hear aloud the exact music you had flowing through your brain at one time. There’s just not much of anything better than that. Thanks so much for your comments, insights and support, they are all very much appreciated. Wishing you all the best!

Everything you requested was covered in my first video in this series called, “Korg Triton Rack Expandable HI Module/Sampler: Why I Use It - Part 1” on this channel (Link: ua-cam.com/video/HUReL0y1x9Y/v-deo.html). Thanks for watching and sharing.

I almost bought one, to serve as a Midi Song sequencer...but now I see it can't load a Midi (song) file, to set it up in Multitimbral mode, it's just surreal. It has only a Pattern Sequencer, as if it was a groove box... Am I correct that I can't load in a Midi file with 16 tracks ? (like in a song)
Or...could I use the Pattern Mode as some kind of a Song Mode and put in 16 tracks and thousands of notes, fooling the "system" as it was a pattern? lol
Could it take thousands of notes inside a pattern, that in reality would be a whole song?
It's hard to find a rack that has a good sequencer for setting up a Multitimbral arrangement...

From my perspective, I don't suggest the sequencer on this module. I've always used an external sequencer to trigger it, which has always been a great solution. Thanks for watching.

Drum programs reside in the Program mode just like any other sound. The drum category will give you immediate access to all drum programs. The difference between drum programs and, say, a piano program, is that the data which makes up a drum program can be edited per key. The forum for this type of editing is the Global mode; the data is called a “Kit”. A Kit contains all of the settings that makes up the drum program.
When creating your own drum kit you need to “listen” to it through the effects of an existing Program. As such, you’ll find it much easier to start from a drum program that already has the desired “timbre” (effects, attack, decay, etc.) for your soon to be custom kit. Start by selecting the desired drum Program:
      1. Press the PROGRAM button
      2. Using the cursor arrows and/or value dial, select the Drum Program that you would like to edit
Accessing the Drum Kit in the Edit Mode:
      3. Press the GLOBAL button
      4. Press the MENU button
      5. Press the F5 button, which correlates to “Dkit” on the screen
You’ve entered the drum kit edit mode. The kit which contains the information for your drum program is already selected note the number location of this kit. You can select the note you wish to have the info displayed for by holding the ENTER button and touching the key you are interested in editing at the same time. At this point, you can change the sample, as well as the pitch, filter and various other parameters for that sample. You can repeat this on any key you like, until your kit is to your satisfaction. Playing the key while editing will let you hear the changes you are making.
When all edits are completed, write the changes so they stay:
      6. Press the F8 button, which correlates to “Utility” on the screen
      7. Press the F7 button to highlight “Write Drum Kit” on the screen
      8. Press the F8 button, which correlates to “OK” on the screen twice
      9. Press the PROGRAM button. The drum program is still selected and the new edits will be present
Simply play and listen to the new version of the kit. This can now be used for sequencing and live playing alike, all with your edits. I hope this information helps. Thanks for watching.

this is ancient technology. Yamaha's new stuff blows this away.

The price of the new Yamaha stuff will also blow you away.
My rack cost me $300 nothing comes close at that price.
