My absolute favorite part about these attacks is they had to figure out how to make a robot replicate magical attacks without any magic. Like, the sheer amount of creativity to even come up with some of these…
Wait... I'm pretty sure Robo Ky himself is powered by magic, because by the lore itself, all of electronics (black tech) have been destroyed or at least banned. Makes sense - I mean, he has to pull those bag of tricks from _somewhere_.
@@amaulana090 Nah, Robo-Ky is canoncially powered b y a beetle running on a treadmill in his chest. It's called the Hercules Engine. The most expensive item in Isuka is buying a better beetle.

Love how they reduced the resolution of a lot of characters' projectiles and external weapons, probably to optimize for space in memory. Then have Robo-Ky keep the high-res moves...
Isuka was an Arcade game at first. Robo-Ky 2 was added in the home ports. The resolution of sprites weren't the only thing affected; a lot of the characters' colour palettes had the amount of colours reduced (going from 30 colours down to 15), eg. I-no's hair reuses the same colour as her guitar so now its blue. While they didn't change the colour palettes for the home ports, the colour palette editor has the option of using 30 colours. I think the arcade's specs were closer to a Dreamcast, but don't quote me on that.
I just wanna say, I watched a video like this earlier today and was like, “man, I wish the video was higher quality.” And my prayers were answered! Amazing video
Never say never. Daisuke really wanted to add him in XRD. Especially with the whole body being gone thing he has so much room for development. Season 3 hopes is that most Kiske related characters will be added.
I think Venom and Robo-Ky being one character would be so awesome, like, it would fit so well into Venom playstyle to have a fucking robotic head that can hit to throw it to the opponent
Robo-Ky could absolutely be wandering around trying to convince people to go to the bakery, or trying to acquire a tangerine farm, preferably both. Like, ‘if I win, you need to visit the (bakery name)’.
I've always wondered how Robo-Ky II would work in a mainline GG game. He definitely won't be seen again because of the amount of work required to make him, especially with the amount of detail they've put in STRIVE. RKII probably won't be competitively viable either but it'd be cool to have an option to enable Robo-Ky II in player lobbies. They could even make a mode centered around RKII similar to M.O.M. mode. So many ideas, too much effort.
You say this except xrd's entire development pipeline has featured character models being swapped out on a per move basis. Robo ky II is *now* easier than ever to develop, which makes it insane that they did this in isuka.
@@herbbirb3766 They have to make individual models for the more complex moves and animate them frame-by-frame in 3D. It's much harder than drawing 2D sprites.
@@SpeedsonicOddTristan I mean I don't want to speak off limited knowledge but when it comes to 3d animation if you understand on every aspect excepting visuals (textures/model) how an object operates, how it moves and where it moves it should be far easier to replicate it than drawing a series of *fully* unique sprites. Not saying more modelling is easy but Xrd proves they aren't willing to shy away from it if it can help sell a characters unique traits.
Not to mention they don't have to completely remodel and remap his bones if the special in question only involves a single object like Baikens Kabari or Youzansen. That's just flat out easier than drawing sprites.
@@herbbirb3766 It takes them months to create the models alone. Xrd's artstyle is great but STRIVE's artstyle is counter-intuitive. STRIVE has a bunch of small areas on clothing that move in the wind, they'd spent 2 - 6 months on Robo-Ky II's model (depends if they already have normal Robo-Ky as a base), then they have to model his attack models if they're still using those in STRIVE (I think only some characters like Zato do, Faust did in Xrd but not STRIVE), and then they'll have to animate him which requires them to pay attention to small details. Xrd's models and artstyle is much easier to work with because the models aren't as lively but I believe they're harder to make because of how faithful they are to 2D animation. Robo-Ky II's attacks won't need as many frames or polygons so it'll be quicker in that aspect. Robo-Ky II is MUCH easier to make in 2D than he'd be to make in 3D. He's probably also quicker to make.
it really is a shame that the go kart animation they made for ky's slide kick didnt make it into ac+r in robo-ky's moveset, because that is a phenomenal animation
It’s a shame that they only use these sprites in this game. They should’ve given Robo a force break command grab in +R that instead of stealing meter let’s him steal a move.
@@ИльяМакаренко-я8е I’m sure you could make it work. Robo isn’t the strongest character in +R to begin with, and it’s not like composite characters aren’t already a thing in other games. Maybe make it so that if he overheats he loses the ability. Stuff like Ryujin name Mist Finer could have their level 2 version locked behind high heat. You could also balance the special move itself by making certain specials generate more than others (I belief Isuka already does this, I remember Pot Buster building a fuck ton of heat)
I second the motion of Robo Ky returning. Imagine the look on the Kiske family. Dizzy: Ky honey, what happened to your head? Sin: Oi, dad! You look cooler than usual! OG Ky: ...not this again...
So you are telling me you can make robo ky become a fusion of chipp and testament with volcanic viper? The possibilities truly are endless (or as endless as his normals allow him to)
If I remember correctly, you have 6 slots for moves, and more upgrades for his roman cancels and health. It's a bit of grinding as all of this is only available in the isuka best em up mode.
@@HeavenNagai Description says you have 7 slots, so it's 3 moves from two characters plus another move, so idk, also I guess the modes are limited. Thanks for the answer.
This was my first GG, my gma found it at a garage sell in a case with no cover so I just started playing and was like wtf is this shit?! A couple years ago I pawned my ps4 so I blew the dust off the ol Ps2 and got high as shii and played this for like a day straight trying to make the most broken Robo-Ky 2.
Does Robo Ky II have upgraded versions of Testament's traps, or is that not possible since he cannot use Master of Puppets or the air grab that Testament has?
As far as I'm aware, Robo-Ky II can only use the basic versions of each move, with the exception of Jam's enhanced specials, since Breath of Asangi is one of the moves he copies from her.
How does this work? All these moves have different motions, they replace Robo Ky's moves if they have the same motion or he has a special motion for that?
He has 7 slots for putting moves in: 1) 236 + S (usually for projectiles) 2) 63214 + K (usually high-impact moves such as throws and counters) 3) jump, 236 + S (all his aerial specials) 4) 214 + S (dash-attacks and other supportive moves) 5) 623 + H (anti-airs and other beefy hits/hit-throws) 6) 236236 + S (supers) 7) ????? Putting a move in the Slot 1 will map that move to 236 + S, and so on with all other moves. Slot 7 contains utilities such as Triple Jump, Rising Dash and Jam's Asanagi Breath. Buying and alloting the Heracles Engine will remove all slot limitations (so he can use ANY move in ANY combination, though still in a total of 7), at the cost of them defaulting to their original commands, so if you play your cards right, this gives him much more variety, but if not, some commands may overlap. The Engine can be alloted or removed at will.
