Grandmaster Simon Williams is on chess.com, improving and learning chess openings with a world record masterclass blitz speed chess speed run!
This is my favorite series on youtube by far!!!! very instructive. thank you !!! Simon.
Me too! Is anyone else getting adverts for hair loss? I think it’s because I keep searching for “Ginger” so hence my UA-cam gets excited 😂
Nice wins, Simon! You made it look easy!
I enjoyed that. Cheers
Every time I watch Simon he makes it look so easy I think I can play like that, then my game goes VERY differently
same, especially when i try and play the dutch. very counterintuitive opening in a way
16:15 "Very natural moves" while dragging the king to e4 😆
This guy is Magnus Carlsen of explanation
Damn, you make blitz look so easy. Of all the blitz run commentaries on UA-cam yours are the most instructive. You instantly see possible continuations that would take me much longer to calculate, IF I even see them.
Please increase the time control to 10 mins at these higher level games. More time to explain thoughts and moves. Love the series!
I've attempted the Dutch a few times with disastrous consequences! Nice to see it done right.
I've also tried it and it was catastrophic 😅
People complain about your intro but I think it’s metal
I think you should increase the time control to 10 minutes as someone else has said. The descriptions are a bit rushed and you’re also making mistakes that some of your audience around this level can easily see. Naroditsky is playing 10+5 for his current speed run, increasing to 15+10 at higher levels and it works well. The content is still entertaining and educational but I think this would help you to improve it.
Yes !
If you go on his playlists there's one called "Longer Games" which are all 15+10
@@peterkukiewicz9217 Thanks for the suggestion. If I recall correctly those games tend to be against much higher rated players, generally 2100+, so the mistakes are a lot more subtle, eg Simon has prepared/memorised better in some opening, finds a strong positional idea due to knowledge of pawn structure or engineers a bad piece for his opponent and plays against that. While they’re interesting I find it much harder to find concrete ideas to learn from in these games.
That first game with the Dutch defence was great and I will try to use it as an anchor game for the Dutch opening! Hope to see more Dutch games in the future!! Love this series!!
The first game is a work of art! Loved it
Why could he play h4 to defend ?
@@lewismartin4306incredibly weakening the king
Bro I love these series but why it is only 480p? is it just me?
no... :(
Love your stuff!! Bought your course from Chessable on the Dutch and am loving it. Can't wait for the book to come out. Thank you
Simon please continue this series it's very informative.I improved a lot thanks to your knowledge and explanation
That first game was absolutely crushing! 💪
Something is up with the video quality only going to 480p quality. Something I noticed on the last upload. hmmmm?
Nigel Short once played the exchange French (as white) and castled long --for an opposite sides castle attacking game. It was really really interesting. So the exchange French isn't all snoring and snoozing. There are some fun sidelines.
I know it feels like a hard sell sometimes but that chessable course (Dutch) is fantastic.
It really is
I'm loving his British Grand Prix course. I've studied less than 1/4 of the lines so far, but I'm already winning 5% more of my games against my old nemesis, the Sicilian. He's got some great stuff on there.
Why does white always fianchetto the bishop against the Dutch? Everyone seems to automatically play it. What happens when they don't?
I like the recaps after the game! Very instructive! Thanks!!
Dude, you need to get some pointers from Levy "GothamChess" Rozman. What do you mean you have less than 100k subs? What's the problem?
Awesome content Simon ❤
I would not say it’s that hard to learn the dutch at lower levels. I got the Chessable course, but use it mostly for reference. d4 players don’t see it often so they don’t know what to do.
Thanks Simon on everything you done for chess
These videos are golden. Thank you.
Very good, thanks, i'm a london player, but against Benoni traspose to Smith-Morra, in general none of my apponent know how to play against Smith-Morra.
Nothing spectacular, I known, I known, I known and I known :) btw what's with 480p video quality?
I learn more from this guy than all my favorite chess channels COMBINED!!!
Wow really sir you are a Dutch Expert. I really love this opening and all its variation looking forward to watch more of your vidoes on it❤️
480p resolution Simon? Your camera on the fritz?
Should I send you a new one?
How do you refrain from shouting when you win, " I am the chess dragon from history and I will smelt your bones!"
This series is essentially smurfing in ranked lol. Absolutely love it though, relaxing, informative and really enjoyable. Ta Simon.
Still watching you daily, cant believe i met you at heflavik airport, although its been months since it doesnt feel real to me that i actually met you, thank you simon
Nice video, you take the time to explain so much. Thanks
Nice explanation killing them piece by piece
Wow... excelent demonstration of the dutch!
This series are so good and instructive. Please use the iron English as white!
again 480p quality? :(
even me who I'm not a GM i have a ratting bigger .Try your luck whit player 1900 ,2000,2100,2200 and you will see the difference I don't want to say to play with 2500,2600,2700 because u don't have a chance to win
lol
Holy crap that first game was so mechanic
Top drawer as always!
glad to watch ur videos again
Man you make look so easy.
Gm , The best show ever
2 days in a row, nice!
Really enjoyed those games. That first game showed what a weapon the Dutch can be at this level. I must study it properly. I had a signed copy of your book but I lost it. What a clown! 🤡 Keep up the great series
Thanks Simon
Love this
Excellent! Yeah, finding a better move than a good one can be bad advice especially if you're low on time 🙂
Awesome
Simon, do you have a course on the King’s Gambit?
Getting creative with the thumbnails I see 👀👍
you have the best intro thingy. so dope
So instructive, thanks 👍
Simply the best
As a French player (player of the French 😁), I often got this variant (last game) of the exchange. Then I switched to the variation where you bring your Knight to e7 (and later g6 or f5)... Much more fun! (+ long castling and f6)
(by the way, is it variant or variation? I used both here because I'm not sure...)
Variation. Variant is used for stuff like 960, antichess, atomic, horde, racing kings, etc.
@@juleslondon3088 thanks! In Dutch you can use variant for both (de variant van het Frans & 960 is een variant van schaken). Variatie (equivalent of variation) is never used in the first sentence, but it might be used in the second. If you would say: "een variatie op het Frans", it would mean that it isn't the French anymore, yet something that looks like it... (which is, I guess, similar to what you in English would call a variant then... Right?)
(it all sounds quite complicated 😂)
@@torrawel I guess so. Maybe you should play the Dutch! 😉 If variatie is variation, what’s the Dutch for variety?
@@juleslondon3088 I try the Dutch now and then, but it usually goes horribly wrong... :)
I prefer the KID or QID...
variety is variëteit.
Thank you
Williams so old school his videos are 480p
