Nice artifacts. But your discoidal is not a discoidal at all. They are called cones or hemispheres. Thought to be used for atlatl weights but still widely disputed. Nevertheless probably even more rare than a discoidal.
Another great video!!. Have you ever found any finished bannerstones!. In a earlier video, you didn't think the bannerstone was used on the atlatl, I agree, what do you think they were used for?
yeah the cane drill seemed to be the way to go back then. Alot of the finished examples I have seen have a much cleaner more even hole. I agree with the last object if I would have found it I would say net weight on it. Klintworth
Appreciate the vids. I am from Ohio and I am just getting into Indian artifacts but the thought of smacking around a cone shaped rock really makes no sense to me? these were smart People. shooting at a stone does not aswell. arrow and point making was a highly developed skill and took alot of time so taking a chance at breaking arrows or tips shooting at a rock or in the ground does not add up to me. again I do not claim to be very educated at artifacts but very interested and trying to learn. One would think they took target practice like we would into or at a safe target? children could bat around any shaped rock for fun.
"Chunkee" is the name of the game played with the famous discoidals...im not exactly sure how it was played, but it was something like throwing or rolling the stones for distance and accuracy, sometimes involving a stick?
i have man made layerd stone.iv counted 7 layers..red in color that fits to the palm of your hand....it has smaller stones almost melted into the finger grips... with a lage hole in the middle and sharp sones melted into one side of the hole....it fits perfectly into your palm.....any clue on what it might be? i found it skipping stones when i was a kid in copiague long island...
I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL OF THESE. Buy I recently discovered a làrge marker rock. It has several engravings animals, camp signs slashes birds, but grinders. The one
Can you help me identify my stone I'm 97.8 precent sure it's an artifact I'm not an expert by any measure just an enthusiast and I need in sight on it send me a message or leave a comment pls
