the cool thing about org mode is that you can also convert it to other formats using things like latex. I've written basically every report I've done in org mode and just generated it into a report

Been scared of vim style text editors for years now, had to use obsidian instead (which is where I believe that exact node tree GUI thing at 10:09 comes from). It's pretty much doom emacs but more GUI based instead of shortcut based. It also does handwritten style notes with stylus support with excalidraw which is pretty cool for diagrams :3 Seems like your emacs setup is more based around immediately placing notes where they need to go at the time of writing. I believe you can set this up with obsidian but it requires you to include a certain keyword in the title. I think you could get away with syncing your notes with git as an off site backup if its mostly text based. This is what I've been doing with Obsidian for the past year. Looking forward to hearing about your thoughts on Obsidian in a future date. I noticed that your autofocus seems really jumpy and doesn't really focus on what you want most of the time. I think you might be overlooking the importance of a smaller aperture. If you use a bit more lighting you can maintain the same overall brightness but with a tighter aperture so the autofocus doesn't have to work as hard. Probably really difficult considering you record your monitor a lot though, but you could always set up a custom preset for normal recording and screen recording. Probably really difficult to get consistient lighting in a dorm room though, so I respect how well you've lit your videos so far (apart from your last one with the single light in the corner of the room ;-;)
nah fs :) i tried obsidian as my original workflow when i got into college but i found excalidraw to be really finicky with my tablets. thanks for telling me all the obsidian tricks!! ill keep it all in mind for the obsidian vid. and yeah i should definitely try using a smaller aperture but i get too lazy to switch sometimes. i didnt have my firmware updated and i do think it's improved a lot after the update
are you going to be integrating your handwritten notes w/ emacs-org? if so it'd be extremely helpful if you made another video on it! I'm using a boox x3pro w/ synchthing but I'd like a better way to organize my notes
yeah pretty much, i think both platforms are really similar in function (although i havent fully used obsidian), just different config steps you go through and philosophies behind the softwares.
hey, did you apply early action to purdue? I just got my early action decision back but I got deferred :/ (also this was fun to watch as an aspiring engineer.)
i'm sorry to hear that :( i applied EA and got in, but i have a friend from my high school who got deferred, wrote a letter of continued interest and got accepted like a month later
I'm curious about which camera and len is usually used to shoot videos? They look a little bit strange on my 16:10 screen because it doesn't have black spaces up and down but right and left.
Actually I'm using obsidian for files organisation with a similar "note linking system" and neovim as the text editor with obsidian plug-in for qol things. How do you think emacs and obsidian compare for the file organisation?
never gave emacs' org-mode a serious try (which is weird because i use it for programming) but my current setup of obsidian + syncthing is working pretty well, have syncthing installed on my phone to back up my notes and keep windows and linux in sync
i’m about to watch this later, but can you tell me where you got the materials for your classic keyboard mod? like if you bought it on eBay, which store? i really want a genuine keyboard and palm rest for my laptop. thanks
i have no idea if any of my parts are genuine, but my strategy was just to check the store reviews and see what other people said. genuine parts are getting pretty hard to source esp for the better variants
