They don’t fight for any rational reason in the first place. If the fight is not perilous then no pride nor glory ever come from it.

@@straysoul1818 I think you're missing the point a bit, yourself. For Honor doesn't refer to fighting in an honorable fashion. It's referring to regaining your honor with a victory. The story mode of the game is not driven by honorable men and women, but the most ruthless, vicious aggressors, on all sides. 'For Honor' is the reason they are fighting, not the way they fight.

I mean, sure, For Honor is still a Ubisoft game, and I could go on for hours about everything I think is wrong with it, but that doesn't change the fact that it's still pretty damn fun, and that it can even be really enjoyable to just watch.

I know, right? Your opponent is on his/her last leg (perhaps literally), and your character tosses the pommel at them, they dodge out of reflex, and your character rushes up, stabs them, and then picks up their pommel nonchalantly.

the smooth flow of the verse really makes that harsh punch of the chorus hit hard. Love the song.
That was the idea alright, a melodic verse & more rhythmic war chant for the chorus to kick in the aggression :)

Years later and I don't remember anything about For Honor's story mode despite playing through it twice. But I remember this song. I think for my own taste this is overall the best thing to come from For Honor and it's not even from the actual devs.
I took a break from the game for a while, but coming back to it I can remember why I left
I just wish the game was still more alive.. This game is the greatest of its type, you can't argue that there is another pvp medieval game with such mechanics, story and characters

Somehow the words you chose are incredibly accurate. "oaken the soul we"ve broken the bones of all".Beautiful The way they flow, its... its undescribable. Here, witcher, bloodborne... when the fighting is fuild, you chose phrases and sounds that perfectly match the piruettes of geralt or the unrelenting, but slick movements of the hunters. When writing about vikings, the sounds reflect the toughness one associates with them. Marvelous.

65 hours into the game, I finished most of the campaign on realistic (max difficulty) and I get most of these beautiful references... Thank you Gavin, this song makes you worthy of Valhalla !
Suitul Fhrost Finished the campaign on realistic and got the observables and breakables. There are some incredible references. The ones that give me the shivers are still the ones about wolves: "Strife in the age of wolves" and "Howls of the wolves". For me, Apollyon was such an amazing character. Her attitude made it so. The fact that she was always calm and set up an elaborate trap for the 3 factions to reach her goal (even if she needed to die to do it). I am sad that they went with the glorified tutorial style of campaign. It had a lot more potential.
Yes, Apollyon is truly a magnificent vilain, she is not here to do evil, she wants to return to a strong eats weaks world, she is not a "bad" person, she even grants mercy to those who tries to kill her and to each she deems strong, from whatever faction they are... At the end, she fought until her death for her convitions, which is quite impressive ^^
Suitul Fhrost I loved how, in the end, her sword was the sign of war. That "Bravo, you killed me Orochi. Now look at what you have truly done you scrub" moment was probably the best in the game.
Yup, beating her on realism was so hard, but damn, that end is worth it... And damn, I need her amor set and weapon added to the game, it's so cool !

Even with songs about knights, ninjas, or samurai, Gavin's voice makes them fit a Norse/Viking setting. Which is great for me, I get most of my inspiration from Nordic myth.

Credit to the designers, it took me a few viewings to realize that the knight fighting the samurai at 2:50 is female. The breastplate was less obvious than usual in media.
Yeah she is the main villain in the series. Her name is Apollyon. She was the one who pushed the war to where it got to. Her belief is the strong live the weak die. Or as she puts it “we must bring the wolves out among the sheep”.
And yeah, her design is very cool. The designers did incredibly well. Also, you are right how media really push out the breast plate to prove the character is female. But here it is more realistic.

I love the knights portion, I was reminded of this song when I found some plate armor in Kingdom come deliverance after also learning more about my weapon and returning to a foe that slayed me multiple times and we had a grand battle that ultimately led in his destruction and the reclamation of my pride and honor.
And so I have returned to this magnificent song, not for honor but for MORDHAU

Watching the video, and seeing all the half-swording makes me happy. It's a game that knows enough about history to do good details, but understands that imagination is fun, and knights v Vikings v Samurai was already a good idea.

There is actually a story here. The first thing we see is a squire being knighted. I am going to call him George. So, after George is knighted, we fast forward to see him leaving a assassin guy behind. Then, he is on the battlefield. George then fights the Viking commander, the guy who jumps out the window, then he is having a duel with a samurai. Then, when the samurai is running away, George meets him on the stairs. At the end, we see him as a really powerful knight.
You got most of it right. The assassin is a woman by the way. Also he leaves because he disagreed with how his leader (black knight at the end) viewed the world and war.
The knight at the end is a different character in the game. Her name is Apollyon and is the main villain. She is the leader the knight leaves.

I just found this song.. HOW DID I MISS IT. Omg how her sang every different factions verse is awesome, The knights he made sound very formal and respectful, the Vikings sound like killing machines protecting their families from the famin, and the Samurai sound very wise and guiding
