I love my little Si! I found a one owner Si with full documentation at BMW Munchen with the upgraded engine from 2016. New coilover suspension and some minor chassi tweaks makes it very impressive on curvy roads, very understated and looked over car! It is a bit intresting that they used the gearbox from the Z4 because it is shorter and suits better when the engine is moved back, together with a shorter section of the propshaft. The also have 4:10 rear axle ratio and the suspension is no regular M sport setup but tweaked especially for the Si. A note is that the Vanos is still on the engines but the Valvetronic is gone because it didn't like the high revs and was a risk for problems in racing so instead they use a regular throttle flap.
Compared to the BWM N46NB20, the 320si's N45B20S HAS 'Double VANOS' (valve- timing and overlap for intake and exhaust camshafts), but lacks 'Valvetronic' (!) (duration and lift). Normally such a system would be beneficial for a high performance NA-engines to develop more torque and therefore power from small displacements. But unlike Honda's i-VTEC, for example, Valvetronic unfortunately imposes limits on the engine's maximum achievable revolutions. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N45
I have one, and the car has a really badly running engine, if the gas pedal is pressed 2% the car wants to stall, and the whole package feels like is has 130 horsepower.... Any ideas what could be the cause?
while very beautiful and having kart like handling because of the lower center of gravity, the engine was problematic. all the homologation things meant it had no valvetronic so economy vs performance was pathetic. Did rev kinda high iirc.

Would love this on the backroads :D It's not always about the horsepower.
Super underrated video!

Had one of these and preferred it to my GT86! Had a lovely motorsports character. Found the 86 was lacking in that..
Very cool car!
really nice!
The N45 is a good base for a Turbo.
i dont think so, n46 has better engine block
Well I have heard of it I own one of the only two I know of in alpine white 😂

I have the same car, I enjoy using it but I am thinking of selling it because my wife can't get used to it, greetings from Germany
How did u reinstated BMW Motorsport writing on the rims?
With a decal

Exactly, no Valvetronic due to homologation, means you have to drive it like a racecar with quite high revs.
All that cool specs just to put a scuffed engine in it😢
What is scuffed with the engine and what should they put in instead ?
