    This part of Spain is so green. Amazing!

    I use the M1 motorway in Leicestershire. Complete contrast in Spain. No speed restrictions, no contra flow due to roadworks. No dumped waste bags on the side of the roads. No litter. Just flowing traffic and fewer vehicles. I can't believe the roads are that advanced in Spain.

      Fairly easy. The key is education and NO LITTER. You don't have to clean something that doesn't get dirty. Maybe you're living in a dumpster.
      This is a regional road between 2 small capitals with little traffic, but you're talking as if we were living in a third world country. We have *dozens* of highways like that. Remember we're the 2nd widest country in the EU, and if France hadn't recovered Alsace-Lorrain in WWI, we would be the 1st.

      That's because the UK is a very population dense country with tons of people looking to move around towns, so they obviously take the cheap option and grab a car instead of a bus or overpriced train, which is a shame.

    Just drove from Girona past most of catalonia going down to Murcia and Malaga. It is getting to be way too much big trailers (lorrys) on the roads now. It creates situations when other cars are trying to pass. Also: trailers trying to pass another going UPHILL with other cars wanting to go past...unsafe.

    How comes the motorways are so well maintained and clean? I simply can't understand how they manage it in Spain?

      Economics. First, a large part of Spain's economy is tourism, so building and maintaining a wide network of roads is important.
      Second, the C-25 is a regional motorway in the rather prosperous region of Catalonia, so it's roads are generally better than in other parts of the country (not marginally, but noticeably).
      Third, the C-25 is part of the Generalitat de Catalunya's shadow toll program, meaning they pay the concession company money for use, hence the good quality.

      Not all Spanish highways look so good, you have to come more often to see how mostly highways and roads look really.

    Will you film any motorways in Germany or Switzerland in the future?

    • @EuropeanRoads
      @EuropeanRoads  8 років тому

      Oh definitely. I still have some footage of Germany, but it's very cloudy.

      By any chance does that include the German A5 or/and the Swiss A2 (I know you've filmed the Gotthard Tunnel, but other parts of the A2 and the Gotthard Pass are really beautiful, too)?

      And don't forget the German A 45, an amazing landscape there

    Wich importance have a C-road?

    • @EuropeanRoads
      @EuropeanRoads  8 років тому

      They are owned by the autonomous community of Catalonia. It can be anything from a narrow two-lane road to a busy motorway. Most C-roads with 2 numbers are fairly high-standard roads though.

      Don’t try to find any logic. Aside from N-roads (national roads) everything else makes little to no sense. A usually denotes motorways and expressways (autopistas and autovías), but in Andalusia and Aragon A is also used to denote roads under regional administration, regardless of being dual or single carriageway roads. This is just an example, but it can get much more complicated. At this point, assume that numbers are random names, like Phillip or Amanda.

    • @BlackHoleSpain
      @BlackHoleSpain 3 роки тому

      C stands for Catalonia, because it's a regional highway that doesn't cross to other regions, therefore is not a national highway.
      For example, the 16 regional highways in Madrid start with letter M.

    How comes there's no traffic jams at every 1km? Stop start traffic.

      It's in the mountains between two small capitals. Not everyone wants or needs to use the car in Spain.
