Yeah, I mean, how strong and nearby does a lightning strike have to be in order to knock out the camera systems? Pretty darn strong. Came outta nowhere too
Lightning did not hit the bullpen. I've videotaped thunderstorms several times before, and the lens often reflects a portion of the bolt much closer than it actually is.
Just Somethin First Cardinals game I ever went to and it was wild. The field and stands were soaked and someone ran onto the field to slide around in the rain. I also took some pictures of the lightning and it was behind the left center field. Btw that's early evening and there was still a lot of daylight.
I was at a AAA game here in Indianapolis once and a lightning strike happened across the street just as a player made contact with the ball. He actually stood at home plate for a second and looked at the bat as if to say "Im a mighty man!". He was thrown out and very loudly laughed at by everyone, it was hilarious
@@TheGoodCrusader I don't know science but I don't believe they'd be in any real danger since they're all together/with the seats as opposed to the players being in the middle of a flat area. I might be blabbering out of my ass thougg
Welcome to St. Louis. Where we applaud close lightning strikes. Now if there was a tornado, everyone would still be in their seats, drinking a beer and watching it roll by
1:36 reminds me of a race I saw were a big lightning bolt streaked hit and the flagman wasnt affected, the flag-stand is elevated and metal and might be the first place to get hit
I know this wasn't during the game, but what about when I think it was Aaron Judge hit his homerun during the homerun derby, and lightning struck right when the ball hit the wall in the back of the dome?
I once was parking a 40 foot container on a trailer in a yard and lighting struck it on a warm summer night. It was like the brightest camera flash ever & the heat was so intense but brief. I'm assuming the heavy rain helped lower the heat quickly. I paused for a few minutes got my bearings & told my foreman, "i need a break".
I recall one night game with Felix Hernandez throwing fire and a rain/thunder storm raging. The atmosphere was wild dark clouds thunder roaring Felix blazing that game just wow couldn't be better
At 2:35 what is that white object that darts up to the right after the lightning strike? Doesn’t look like a bird, and it seems too rainy to be an insect flying around. Weird.
The first and sometimes last thing you learn from playing golf is that you don't screw around with lightning. I don't blame those guys for running for their lives.

Mybeach 1408 😂😂😂😂.
Mybeach 1408 I thought it would've been hilarious if the thunder hit right as the catcher caught the ball
1:10 He just realized that they’re playing indoors and the lightning can’t hurt them 😄
brian thomas probably thought it was an explosion
Not true. Not true at all. Ground currents could've gotten them, it could've went through all the metal and electrocuted people in the stands, etc.

Hermanus Lemmer So in that clip, was there just the one bolt in the background?

Nick Gillotti or a lightning rod
