It seems that is celebrated in the USA, so why not have some subset of people in the UK celebrating having children in wedlock with a dedicated father? I think that might be a cultural difference, rather than anything to worry about. I'm a Traveller and I'm married to a non-Traveller, which has really opened my eyes to how the communities view thing differently.
He will have told her repeatedly that she's perfect for him, but it's considered being "full of yourself" to say that as a Traveller. You say you hope that's the case because you want to be humble and don't want to jinx it, but if you weren't sure, you wouldn't be getting married. In English culture, saying that he's told you you're perfect for him is a sign of confidence, so it's viewed very differently.
The difference is probably both cultural and religious. Catholicism demands humility. It's not a gender subjugation thing, though, because if they'd asked Brendan the same question he would have said words to the same effect (that she was perfect for him, and he hoped he could live up to her expectations).
I know in English culture that it's easy to think her words mean that she thinks she's not good enough, but I promise that's not the case 💕

It’s a strict Christian/Jewish/Muslim thing. I’ve met more oppressed Muslim wives than traveller. Imagine having to tell your coworker that her husband shouldn’t be ramming it in dry and he’s the reason she’s in pain and receiving medical treatment for friction burns and then telling me all her friends husbands do the same. I'm not condoning it in the slightest (so don't jump on me for this - I certainly wouldn't do it), but it's an old school way of washing a dog that's rolled in something horrible before taking it home.
It's not normally launched like that, though, so I imagine the kid's young age, bravado, and the presence of a camera crew played a part (this show is known to try and get shock footage to up their views, so they probably egged him on).
You're supposed to just use the puddle water to wash the worst off, not launch the poor dog in, so I imagine the kid got a royal bollocking when his parents found out for exactly the reasons you've listed...

Now, 42, we’ve been together 12.5 years, and I’ve found my partner in life and love. Why is number two working out? It’s simply because at 35 I knew myself, knew what I wanted and didn’t want and found someone who truly loved and respected me for me.
Marriage is hard, it had ups and downs you cannot imagine! Both of you need to be mature enough to work through it (and have solid role models to show you how to live and love healthily); not to mention truly love each other. People grow and change, it’s human nature; there is no way I knew what I was doing at 22! I feel so sorry for this poor girl, she doesn’t stand a chance and we all know by watching him for 30 minutes that he won’t do a thing right by her; we all know he showed his true colors, and they are not beautiful. Not everyone doesnt know what love is at that age but I agree, a lot of people don't. Hormones tend to overwhelm most 'sane' thoughts. My parents married at 17 (mum) and 18 (dad). They're almost 60 now and they're sticking together good.
Some kids know how to think with their brains rather than emotions, some can't. Which is why 18+ is the age for marriage (without parent consent). It's getting easier now for kids to know what love is and know who they want to be with and marry because everything is becoming impossible to afford and so it's harder to marry. Also, this generation (those who haven't been brainwashed in their religious views such as this couple) tends to be better with thinking things through because we aren't looking into marriage to have kids and live together and just live. We know that we are able to live together and wait years and years to marry without being ostracised and hated for what we want to do. There's so much mroe freedom now than what there was because religion doesn't overwhelm everything and we're having to learn that we are almost never going to own a house and we're almost never going to be able to afford a family because it's just too expensive.

They are pulled out of school after the end of primary school age to help mother with the children

No way in hell, I would have been okay with getting married at 15; I was too busy thinking about what university I was going to and what career path I wanted to pursue. My parents would have had my head examined, the said "adult-man child, who was possibly heading to prison, right after the wedding would have had his ⚾ hanging from the streetlights by my mom, dad and grandparents, and my big sis. Seriously, this little girl really wants to be married for the rest of her life to this dude, living in a trailer outside of Walmart. Oh, and he will change his ways after the wedding. GOOD LUCK GIRL.

When I was 16, I wanted to marry David Cassidy, we see that didn't happen. The point I'm trying to get across is, at 16 we should be DREAMING about our crushes, not marrying them.We should be dreaming of what we want to be when we grow up, Doctor? Lawyer? Social worker? NOT marrying someone we just recently met and ending up running after a passel of kids. This whole thing makes me sad, and a bit angry at the parents as well.

Women between 15 and 30 to not mentally mature much, if at all, they. just. grow. older. Yes, women do have a _base_ maturity that kicks in around 14 (has to be that way since they can be made pregnant) but beyond that they are pretty much stagnant and will not mentally mature much until they hit around 33ish. Men however, do NOT have the base maturity women have, but men DO mentally mature between 15 and 30, having reached full mental maturity around 30 (which is why, if we go really far back, a man was NOT allowed to vote until he had hit the age of 30). A 15 year old female has the same maturity of a 25 year old male. Recoiling at the age difference Micheala is making a mistake, because it *presumes* that men and women are equal and just the same (which also presumes they mature at the same age and pace) alas they are not, not even close. Que the outbursts and the name calling.
