    This video is what inspired me to finally get an Elise. This video helped me realize "it's a duet concertina and it sounds great when you play duets", that is. Been playing for 90 days (also self taught) and finally came back and watched this and thought "Oh wow this tune doesn't have any fourth jumps which means this guy Andy Cutting probably wrote it FOR concertina and now I have to find him".
    :D

      wow I am glad that I made some positive impact to your journey and also glad that we are taking the same path of self learning and this amazing instrument just intuitively let us tach ourselves.
      Never realised but that's right indeed, having no fourth makes Hayden playing so easier. Good observation - or good way to put it.

    Beautiful! I bet everyone that watches this video feel like buying one and trying to make some music. So tiny and portable.

    My daughter was quite an accomplished pianist when she was a kid. Now she’s 26 and we just fulfilled the last wish of her childhood that we had never before entertained….a concertina. Well played!

      Thank you and I recommend your daughter to pick up Hayden duet concertina which would make immediate sense to accomplished piano players who are experts at using two hands to play two independent parts.

    This is lovely, thank you. All the better for a simple bass that doesn't drown out the tune.

    Very nice! I got the same model less than a year ago, first time ever holding a squeezebox and having lots of fun with it. You made it sound great!

      Oh lovely thank you, Fellow Hayden player! I am relatively new too and I just love the feeling of air pressure when I squeeze.

      I'm getting all screwed up with a simple 20-button. I should have gotten the 2-button -- "On" and "Off." Maybe in a year or so I'll be able to play "Mary Had a Little Lamb."

    That was beautiful. I just got a 20 button concertina to start learning to play. I'm pretty sure I should have just gotten a 2-button concertina. One button is for "On" and the other is for "Off." Damn, those things are complicated!

    Very nicely done. Good tone, definition and tempo. Now if Wim would make such an Elise with 53 reeds and 1/4" diameter buttons, for more bucks of course, well!

      @MinimumListenableProduct  Рік тому

      Thank you! I don't care much about cosmetics and don't mind cheap/non-trad materials and so on as long as sound is good, so I would have definitely considered if Elise came with such settings (with few more bucks).

    Is that the elise? You play very well

    • @MinimumListenableProduct
      @MinimumListenableProduct  10 місяців тому

      Thanks. Yes it is Elise. I probably sound better that I actually do because I have recorded right and left hand part separately.
      As you can imagine, that way has a benefit of being able to control the dynamics and articulation of each part independently as intended.

      Hello fellow Haden player. The melody only sheet music link is in the description of the video. If you want the chords I played on left hand, in this video I can update it.

      @@MinimumListenableProduct Thank you. The chords, notes played on left hand would be most helpful.

    • @MinimumListenableProduct

      @@nancystevenhasselblad6924 Hey. I have registered the new setting of the tune, with the chords I played in the video.
      thesession.org/tunes/12492#setting42299
      You can see that I am really sticking to the root note of the chords written, (e.g. If "Bm" then B, "C" then C) then occasionally add 3rd or 5th of the chords, especially on longer notes.
      Unfortunately I can't produce the two part sheet music with the exact left hand notes I played because I really improvised when to add the 3rd or 5th of the chords. You can explore what works well with you. Hope this helps!

      @@MinimumListenableProduct Thank you again. That new setting is easier to follow, one page instead of two. I will use your chord notes as a guide for a bit of left hand harmony. I've had my Stagi Hayden Duet in July and have been enjoying it thoroughly.

  • @claremaloney5487

    Is there any way you would be kind enough to ply the left hand on its own please?

      thesession.org/tunes/12492
      I have written down the bass note of the chords on lefthand side in the setting 3 of this tune in this webpage. See those alphabetical markings. I think I mostly stick yo the bass note only and occasionally adding 3rd and 5th.
      Hopefully it helps...

      @@simonekenberg1337 Hey. You should get the New version of Stagi Hayden and let the world know your experience. There is no video of it on youtube yet. More keys would be definitely beneficial if you want to play tunes in more keys and the melody requires wider ranges. Stagi is 46 keys for an amazing price.
