  • We've learned a closed system flat link, along with a bow shackle or soft shackle, is one of the safest winch systems in use. Not just any flatlink, but a US made, tested and certified recovery link from Factor55. We show you the details of why we chose this particular piece of recovery equipment to put at the end of our winchline, and how we attach it to our winch line thimble.
    This is the first of many videos we'll be producing showcasing our ongoing education in the world of safe vehicle recovery techniques, and quality vehicle recovery gear. Come along with us!

    As much as I like 4Runners and Tacoma’s the FJ will always be my favorite. I watch all your old FJ videos.

    I STRONGLY recommend Southeast Overland for shackles. All lines/soft shackles are made in house, can be ordered custom, and the guys there are great to work with. Great video like always!

    Overlanding is by no means cheap in that of itself. SO yes, I totally agree. In a sense, if you are going to do it, do it once, and do it best. Especially when it comes to safety equipment. Congratulations guys, another one, well done!!!
    PS: Love the waving of the Flag... Oh, and pulling poor Merri? She's not the FJ, Mark!!!!

    Thank you for seeking out Rich as a source. Most people wing it, for anyone else please find a I4WDTA certified trainer in your part of the country.

    Was wondering how y'all took the hook off the line. Did you cut it off or just re-splice the line? Love watching y'all.....Another great video!!!!!

      Good question. In another video I saw the person cut the hook off. I guess that's the best option?

    • @WanderlostOverland
      @WanderlostOverland  5 років тому

      We cut it off right away. Didn't look like a very quality piece.

    I also have to run daily with a front license plate. I also have a Factor55 Flatlink. What do you use for a license plate bracket. Keep up the good work on your videos.

      We have a cheap flip-up bracket we found on Amazon. It doesn't flip up far enough though so we're on the lookout for something else.

    Are you sure about wash the line with soap? Also store it wet? (Perhaps I'm wrong)

    • @WanderlostOverland
      @WanderlostOverland  5 років тому

      Giancarlo Rotta dish soap, like “Dawn” to get grease and grime out.

    I would have lost that little c-clip a least twice during that process !

      Ted Jackson Mark kept saying, “Don’t lose that clip!” “Watch that clip!” I thought about pretending to lose it for fun. 😉
