I'm sure the walk will be well attended and I hope the weather holds for you all. I'll keep an eye out for future walks as I don't think I can make that weekend. I have a couple of friends who use Viewranger for everything and swear by it. Plotting, following and tracking. It did let someone down in the Peak District this week, not giving him a map until 2/3 the way through the walk... But fortunately, I was leading and knew where we were going. ;-) Great to hear that you're also being given opportunities to review decent kit. All the best!
Another great vid....did this walk about a month ago but also took in Steeperton & Wild Tor as well....which are easily accessible if you want to add a couple of miles. Love this part of the Moor but it is prone to a little bit of inclement weather😁 Good effort on your work for Macmillans as well...they do fantastic work along with St Luke’s Hospice for end of life care...they are true heroes...and everyone that raises money to help them. You’ll have to come along to the Men’s Day Out next March...a seven mile walk around Plymouth visiting several watering holes on the way😉...all for charity!😁
I thought for the first walk I would just do six seven miles and see if that may encourage people who want to walk but are perhaps a little anxious of distances. I have some longer walks in the planning though for further down the line. I have never really done much in the way of fund raising before, but saw that the channel was a great way to do just that, and the Macmillan walk seemed a great start for me,seeing how I am ticking off the coast path,it only seemed right to try and raise some money whilst walking it.
Dear Trev hope you don’t mind but as a thank you for being an inspiration for us to get out walking I’ve set up a UA-cam channel and mentioned you in my derwent Dam video many thanks, I’m going to try wild camping in Scotland thank you.
Thank you Paul. Glad to have helped encourage you to get out and make the most of this amazing country. All the best of luck to you and thanks for the shout out! Much appreciated!
Nice walk, and great video as usual :-) I can unfortunately not participate in your walk the 25th since I live in Norway :-) But I have donated some money earlier. About Viewranger: I did some walks along the South West Coast Path, and on The Isles Of Scilly in July. I tracked my walks with both Viewranger and Strava apps. They measured fairly the same amount of km, but Viewranger measured between ca 20 and 40% more in total ascent than Strava did. I would like to believe Viewranger ;-) but the Strava measures seem to be more believable. Have a lovely walk the 25th :)
Belstone looks exactly like the type of village I always imagined down there, very nice indeed. Great views out on the moors as well and it must be nice to walk out of the village and into that. I have set myself the task of mastering Viewranger, especially as I have it on my phone! I love a stone circle, not matter how small, its the history and meaning that amazes me. Great idea with the guided walk, which I hope is very well supported and if I was near, I would defiantly be all over. Cheers Alan
Cheers Alan. Yea there are lots of quaint villages throughout Dartmoor all very similar. It certainly is a unique place. Good luck with viewranger. It's a great little app. Thanks for watching!
I am really behind with my UA-cam video watching - too much "other stuff" kept getting in the way during the last 2 or 3 months - so I have some catching up to do. Lovely little walk and a great video. Does ViewRanger usage take up a lot of 'phone battery? Hope your Belstone Meet was successful. Cheers.
Another great video Trev and a good cause... I have the View Ranger app but never used it. I use the OS Maps app to plot a route and follow it, it is extremely accurate and I have found it really useful. I buy the OS paper map and use the download code to put the map onto my OS app. 👍
Hi Dave. I never got on with the OS app. The times I used it the blooming thing kept saying I was places that I wasn't... I do subscribe though and often print os maps off before I go out especially on the coast. Must say, viewranger has done well for me so far. Thanks for watching!
Looks like a nice little walk mate. I find viewranger is great for plotting hikes, and helpful when the weather descends! Your guided walk sounds good, would you be happy to have some youngsters along as well, they are used to a good hike!?
Looks a great walk Trev, I wouldn’t be able to join you unfortunately in August but I’d like to donate to your fund as it’s a really great cause. Do I go to your just giving page still?
Viewranger's a bit laggy on my phone. I prefer the OS Maps app, it has more detail on the free map and if you buy one of the OS maps with a mobile download, you can download that OS Map to your phone. Quite basic route plotting and it shows ascent and distance but no coordinates like Viewranger. I have meindl bhutan boots, never had a wet foot yet but keep them well waxed.
That's funny as I have the exact same problem but with the OS app. It always loses me. And with viewranger I have the premium version so unlimited is maps all round. I really dig the meindls so far, looking forward to many more miles in them soon. Thanks for watching!
Wish I could be there Trev... However I will be there in spirit and hope you have a good turn out for the walk.. 👍😃 ATVB
Cheers Max. Yeah I am hoping to get a good little crowd out with me for a stroll and a chat. Fingers crossed the weather holds up now.
I use Viewranger to record, plot and follow routes/tracks...love it. Good luck with the fundraising.
Thanks very much. I will be using Viewranger properly from now on. Really impressed with it.
I did this walk today with the pup, nice view for a cuppa on Belstone tor!
You were a week late, Jon! Haha Is a cracking little walk.
Haha! I know! I was away for your walk! Looking forward to
Your next one! Maybe a wildcamp? :-)

Nice walk, great video! Enjoy testing the boots. Love the map animation at the start - how did you do that?
I used OS maps online and snipping tool. Simples 😁. Thanks for watching!

As you know. Had meindl for years. Last pair lasted me 18.
Great vid!
Yep - Hopefully mine will too. Last longer than my knees probably!
@@SummitOrNothing I dunno. Your knees are pretty leathery

Yes you can, if you like Neal, thanks. Depending on how successful this walk goes, I may plan some other walks a little further down the line too.
