I watched this complete interview for the very first time just now, and thought it was wonderful. I want to blow kisses to all that were involved, John, David, Bill. You did a marvelous job, and watching it so many years later filled me with nostalgia for what of course was the time of my life. Thank you all.

In NYC, The Cockettes opened with their worst show: TINSEL TARTS IN A HOT COMA.
The next night, they did their best... PEARLS OVER SHANGHAI... but the theater was nearly empty.

I came out in that milieu, performed with The Cockettes, and thought that was how one was supposed to be homosexual. Still do, despite AIDS and assimiliation.

I love John's voice. Knew him in P'town.
I think he was in SF later in the 60s. Maybe in 69-70.
I went to the Palace to the early Cockette shows. Went to the first Halloween show and maybe a New Years eve show. He was right. 100% of eveyone was on drugs.

Is that "Chairy" behind him? ...Seating everywhere...
Red and green, complimentary colors... +fuzzy...-Velour I believe it's called.
I love the elegant color coordinated green ashtray dish perched on a stack of paper picture books. Put that ashtray to work-let him smoke!

It sounds like Emmett Grogan and The Diggers were in full swing when Waters hit town.

Journey to the Center of Uranus? What?
A couple of the most fun evenings spent in S.F. in the 90s was at Club Uranus (only that name on Fridays and Saturdays- different name the other days of the week)... It didn't matter how you pronounced Uranus, because of the obvious, but also because the upstairs "facilities" leaked and dripped "water" onto the dance floor below. Ahh, the MDMA was good then...
