Sure thing, which game would you like to see? I'm trying to figure out how to have the video feed on my TV go directly to the video (if that makes sense). Worse case I can always just film it playing on the TV.
I just recently moved, and I'm still in the process of unpacking a lot of stuff. I hope to have a collection video up sooner then later. Thanks for watching.
Hmm... to be honest I'm not sure about the compatibility with PAL. My guess would be that it would work with the European system since it doesn't have it's own AV cables or power cord. Look at the bottom of your N64, does it have the slot to plug the N64DD in?
The Mario games will work on the Tri Star, but I'm not sure about Wrecking Crew. Unfortunately I don't own a SNES mouse so I'm not sure that it would be compatible. My guess is that it would be.
Well it really depends. If you're a collector and looking for a rare system to add to your collection then it's worth the $. If you're a casual classic gamer then you're probably better off picking up the systems separately The TriStar 64 also allows cheats to N64 games (exclusive), and also plays Super Famicom games.
Sure I'll be sure to review the Sega Picos soon. Just so you know it was a children's educational system released in the early 1990's. It's actually pretty unique even in today's standards of systems.
I believe the button that does "nothing" is like a GS (Game Shark) button, you know the one you press to activate some codes. You said that there were some codes pre-built-in with the system, so maybe that could be your answer.
wow, I've been catching your videos randomly, but just started watching from the beginning, and to compare this video to more recent, it's amazing how far you've come with polishing your videos. . I look forward to watching the rest of your videos! Great show of your N64 setup, as it was a few years ago :)
Yeah I do own a 360. Unfortunately it currently has the red ring of death, and it's not under warranty anymore. To be completely honest I don't use Xbox Live either. Its something about having to pay $100 for the adapter and extra for the services that urks me. I probably will eventually join though, and I'll let you know when that happens.
I've got a question. I have a Super 8 (the SNES equivalent of the Tristar 64) and the controls for NES games had the A button relocated so that it would match the original controller. So, does that mean that the Tristar 64 uses the C buttons for the SNES games, and A and B for NES, or is it all on the C buttons?
Groovy. So how's the compatabiity for the Tristar? Does the special chip games (Super FX/FX2 games, C4 chip games (Megaman X2, X3) or Nintendo games like Castlevania 3 work with it?
what is the power output on the for the Tristar64 I bought one new many years ago and its just set there in a box. I tried it with my genesis power and I get nothing on the screen. and can you turn it on with out a game in it, or do you need the 64 game to bypass the lock out chip
THere is no Ura zelda, Ura zelda was going to be 1 big zelda game with everything from Oot and Majoras mask, but they split it into too different games
Hey this is Gamester81 (other channel). The Net Jet was a system made by Hasbro that was a controller that plugged into the computer using the USB. The games were on keychains that would then be used to access downloadable content. It's a weird system.
I have a n64 and 64dd hooked up via AV cables. Does the Tristar require seperate AV cables for that hook up. In other words, are 2 sets of av cables needed to use all three systems together?
@Gamerster81 I love your reviews and everything. But I do have a problem when it comes to collecting older games. Upon buy a new HDTV I had discovered it doesn't have a yellow composite input... I guess it is a newer thing that TV's are doing to lesson costs I gather, but this is a big problem for collectors for the fact that I can't even play anything older then a PS1. Do you know of any devices that can convert these old wires with newer HDTV ones? Or do I have to man up and buy a new older TV
Omg dude, that was freakin' amazing! Sooo much stuff I didn't know about. Do you have a collection video of all your systems? I was looking but couldn't find one.
hi, as the PAL N64 also has the slot on the bottom do you know if the Tristar is universally compatible? as I have a chance to buy one ($165 btw) the seller says for NES 8bit play a famicom adapter is needed, can you shed some light on this? & finally the seller says it will only work with the INN40203 power adapter ? thanks
@segaimportmaster Yeah the American NES games will work on the TriStar ,however at least for the version I have I need an adapter. Yeah these are expensive and ebay is probably your best bet to find them to be honest. Better off getting just a regular clone system unless you want it for collectable reasons.
@Gamester81 But can you play original American nes games? I hope so. also, any idea where I can get this thing for a good price? Looked on Ebay, and all I can say is, whoa.
How do I put in keycodes? I can only get some n64 games to boot the system I think its the n64 slot or do I have to put them in the tristar for them to work?
OWN THE SYSTEM?! That was my VERY first Game System I ownes as a 5-year old boy, and in the middle of my 3rd Grade year of school, the Gamecube took it's place on the spot. In my 3rd Grade Talent Show I did a tribute rap of Donkey Kong 64 just to show Nothing Is Wrong With Nintendo 64. I loved the system when growing up. My tribute rap made me win the Talent Show, and made me the coolest kid in school.
Cool video dude, this is actually the first I've ever seen of actual N64DD official games, and I'd never heard of the tri-star. The only thing I knew about the DD was that Paper Mario was evidently being developed for it (thank god it came out on the regular 64! One of my favs!) and some sort of Earthbound sequel, which would have been cool. The Mario artist games look hot.
Didn't read the other comments, but if you're still looking for the 'translations', the first 64DD game says "Shimushitii", the japanese written form of Sim City. The second one says "Randonetto", wich means Randnet, as written right below the japanese text. =P F-ZeroX Expansion Kit is "Efuzero Ekkusu Ekusupanshon Kitto". Thanks for sharing, I was very curious about the systems! =)
Did not realize how long I've been subbed here (prolly late 2010/early 2011) happy channel anniversary man.
One of the videos that got me into you and collecting retro consoles and what not.
Am I the only one who just in general loves the way this dude talks? He's chill as fuck.
Very cool.
Sure thing, which game would you like to see? I'm trying to figure out how to have the video feed on my TV go directly to the video (if that makes sense). Worse case I can always just film it playing on the TV.
I'm assuming this is a request. Which Lynx would you like to see? The Lynx I, Lynx II, or both?
And so it began
Yeah I have bought a capture card. I've done a gameplay video showing gameplay on a couple games.
The whole Phillips thing was during the SNES era and planned for the SNES.
I just recently moved, and I'm still in the process of unpacking a lot of stuff. I hope to have a collection video up sooner then later. Thanks for watching.
I love these old reviews of rare videi game consoles. They made me a fan.
Hmm... to be honest I'm not sure about the compatibility with PAL. My guess would be that it would work with the European system since it doesn't have it's own AV cables or power cord. Look at the bottom of your N64, does it have the slot to plug the N64DD in?
I searched ebay just now for N64DD and all I saw was a Radnet disk. When did the auction end that you are referring to?
The Mario games will work on the Tri Star, but I'm not sure about Wrecking Crew. Unfortunately I don't own a SNES mouse so I'm not sure that it would be compatible. My guess is that it would be.
@SilverChain8988 Yes you can play Famicon games on this thing too.
Cool thanks for the request. I'll put it on my list of to-do videos.
I never have 64DD, N64 and Tristar 64. Where can I buy Tristar 64 Multi Game at?
It will play FX and FX2 chip games, but I'm not sure about castlevania 3 yet.
@CastlevaniaDXC around 180+ or so.
Well it really depends. If you're a collector and looking for a rare system to add to your collection then it's worth the $. If you're a casual classic gamer then you're probably better off picking up the systems separately The TriStar 64 also allows cheats to N64 games (exclusive), and also plays Super Famicom games.
Thanks for all of your great comments. I appreciate it.
Your list of consoles is impressive, as a gamer myself, you've got my respect.
watched this after the PRGE 2014 All Gen Gamers Panel video, this is awesome brotha, good beginnings
You know to be honest I don't know if it works on PAL or not. The N64DD doesn't have a power supply and feeds through the N64, so it might work.
Are you referring to the N64DD or Tristar system?
If I'm not mistaken, the grey button is the same as the GS button on the n64 gameshark, its to activate codes momentarily during gameplay.
This is one of my fave videos of gamester81. I watch it while eating .
Sure I'll be sure to review the Sega Picos soon. Just so you know it was a children's educational system released in the early 1990's. It's actually pretty unique even in today's standards of systems.

I'm pretty sure you can find those cables for fairly cheap now. It's worth replacing them because it's a good system as you said.
wow, I've been catching your videos randomly, but just started watching from the beginning, and to compare this video to more recent, it's amazing how far you've come with polishing your videos.
.
I look forward to watching the rest of your videos! Great show of your N64 setup, as it was a few years ago :)
Yes the Japanese 64DD is compatible with the US 64 system.

I'll be sure to add a gameplay review for the Tristar64 system on my video list.
Thanks,
On the Tristar 64, Where the N64 Cartridge slot is on the right, whats that gray thing? What is that 4?
I know this video is old but what is the Mad Catz thing on the Jumper/Expansion pack cover? I didn't know of any 3rd party Expansion Packs.
Groovy. So how's the compatabiity for the Tristar? Does the special chip games (Super FX/FX2 games, C4 chip games (Megaman X2, X3) or Nintendo games like Castlevania 3 work with it?

Thanks I will eventually review every one that I own. It'll take me some time though. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for these videos man!! It brings back memories. Keep up the good work!!!
It's the Nintendo version of the Sega CD, 32-X, Genesis combo!
Sweet to see how your stuff has evolved man! Randomly came across your first video while researching the N64 DD haha.
@Gamester81 If any leak of URA Zelda would ever be found, would you probably do a review?
THere is no Ura zelda, Ura zelda was going to be 1 big zelda game with everything from Oot and Majoras mask, but they split it into too different games
Hey this is Gamester81 (other channel). The Net Jet was a system made by Hasbro that was a controller that plugged into the computer using the USB. The games were on keychains that would then be used to access downloadable content. It's a weird system.
Hey man, really appreciate your videos...I'll be watching a lot more in the future :) Your laid back style is great to listen to. All the best :)
I have a n64 and 64dd hooked up via AV cables. Does the Tristar require seperate AV cables for that hook up. In other words, are 2 sets of av cables needed to use all three systems together?

Very good review. I've not seen the 64DD in person before and was always curious about this neat add-on. Thanks for sharing man.. Cheers
The part where you go over that useless button on the Tristar at 8:14 is hilarious!
Omg dude, that was freakin' amazing! Sooo much stuff I didn't know about. Do you have a collection video of all your systems? I was looking but couldn't find one.
I bougth a Tristar as "new" but doesnt work, ssure work with 220v to 120v adapter?
RGT85 sent me here! Gonna start from the begining! Great stuff!
neat video, when playing snes games on the tristar, are the games compatable with the analog stick on the 64 controller?
no gameplay in this vid? Oh well! This was all crazy cool and interesting!! Great review vid!
I want the 64DD along with the F-Zero X Expansion Kit so bad! Do you have a copy of F-Zero X in Japanese?
Exactly what "change" did Goldeneye inspire?
5:19 I believe it's translated to land net disc or something like that (lando neto disuku)
That's probably true, but believe it or not the Virtual Boy sold 770,000 units.
Cool review man. The 2nd game for 64DD is Randnet (Randonetto). The black text below reads Randnet Disk (Randonetto Disuku).
So with the Tristar... what is the point of having all three games in at once? How do you choose between them?
Tower of N64 power
wow man when can I find these items ???
hi, as the PAL N64 also has the slot on the bottom do you know if the Tristar is universally compatible? as I have a chance to buy one ($165 btw) the seller says for NES 8bit play a famicom adapter is needed, can you shed some light on this? & finally the seller says it will only work with the INN40203 power adapter ? thanks
any info on the Sega Neptune you could share with us
@segaimportmaster Yeah the American NES games will work on the TriStar ,however at least for the version I have I need an adapter. Yeah these are expensive and ebay is probably your best bet to find them to be honest. Better off getting just a regular clone system unless you want it for collectable reasons.
@Gamester81 But can you play original American nes games? I hope so. also, any idea where I can get this thing for a good price? Looked on Ebay, and all I can say is, whoa.
does the 64dd work on an NTSC-U N64 or do you have to import an NTSC-J N64 to use it? and also, was the Tristar64 released in America or only Japan?
Dosuken? I can't see it written anywhere because it's in Japanese, but do you mean Doshin?
what's with the. expansion cover?
The N64 with both those add-ons looks worse than the Sega GENESIS CD 32X Combo.
TnVGaming Nahhh
Does it also play nes? Like does the tristar have a slot for that
Just looked through your console list, Damn you got some hardware there. How big is that house?
I believe that F-zero X Expansion Kit is the best game for the 64DD. What do you think?
Hmm I don't know how rare it is Joe. I'd say fairly rare, but they do pop up on ebay every once in awhile.
What's the difference between the Super NES and Super Famicon?
did they ever release the zelda game for the 64 dd?
LOL yeah I've heard of the PocketStation. I'll look into it for sure. Thanks for the sub too!
@gamester81 have you done the gamecube
Yeah you're correct. Thanks for the correction.
What type of power supply does the tri star have?
how does one find one of those tristar devices?
Dude that us so cool I love the way you have it all together like that. I wish I had the dd but it's soo expensive.
Great video gamester81 !!
How do I put in keycodes?
I can only get some n64 games to boot the system I think its the n64 slot or do I have to put them in the tristar for them to work?
Pretty Good video, but wasn't donkey kong released on the colecovision?
OWN THE SYSTEM?! That was my VERY first Game System I ownes as a 5-year old boy, and in the middle of my 3rd Grade year of school, the Gamecube took it's place on the spot. My tribute rap made me win the Talent Show, and made me the coolest kid in school.
Thanks for the request. Check my "Systems Playlist", because I've already done a review of the Famicom Disk System and Sharp Twin Famicom.
Thanks.
Hey Gamester81, was the TriStar 64 worth the money? Or would I be better off just owning an nes and snes? Thanks for the video!
Orinca of Time? You mean Ocarina, right?
lol. I've had a gameplay vid up for awhile. It's one of the video responses to this video.
Yes, mine is an American N64, so it's compatible.
I do a lot of research first to find out what the value is worth on them, then I save a lot and wait to find the best deals.
What happend with the game gear? dont you had/have one??
I found mine on ebay, and I'm pretty sure it'll work on the Japanese systems too, but not 100% positive.
NP thanks for watching.
can you make a review of satellaview
Didn't read the other comments, but if you're still looking for the 'translations', the first 64DD game says "Shimushitii", the japanese written form of Sim City. The second one says "Randonetto", wich means Randnet, as written right below the japanese text. =P
F-ZeroX Expansion Kit is "Efuzero Ekkusu Ekusupanshon Kitto".
Thanks for sharing, I was very curious about the systems! =)
Does the n64 dd work on a ntsc console?
what is a net jet?
Where did you find the n64dd?
