  • The 4x4 Scouts at release were strong vehicles considering there were only 3 maps with Easy to Moderate difficulty. As time went by; more DLC trucks, and DLC Maps have been added. Alot of these DLC trucks are outside of the Scout class that simply power creep the standard 4x4s making them a little less appealing, yet they can still be effective if you can have a little bit of patience. I want to thank everyone for your support as always; It means a lot. Enjoy! Love ya'll! Please subscribe to the Channel!
    You might see redundant graphics in each Scout Section this was implemented so everyone could see important stats on every Scout Section.
    No NPROV rating was added due to that rating being based off of the larger hauling class vehicles generally.

    With several hundred hours in the game the scout 800 is still a personal favorite and always use it in everything but the most extreme cases, if you use it enough you get to be used to its bounce and working with that in mind becomes second nature. Its small enough that even late game maps wont give it much trouble because you can just slip through the trees with ease! If you give it some love it will give it right back!

    Fantastic review, Nathan. I have recently purchased both the Jeep and Land Rover packs, and followed your advice to upgrade the suspension on the Wrangler with the Crawler type. Man, best $7,900 I've ever spent for an upgrade. With that suspension kit and good off-road tyres, this Wrangler truly goes anywhere and has only tipped once because of a stupid oversight on my part while manoeuvring on a rocky surface. Otherwise it just - doesn't - want - to - tip. That's why I still haven't bought the autonomous winch, haha! I was also blown away by its fuel efficiency. In Smithville Dam, I went from the Garage to the location of the 'King of the Hill' mission, did the whole mission, and then went to the opposite side of the map, and I still had 15 litres of fuel left! On the other hand, I found the CJ7 underwhelming and redundant, especially given the great performance of the Wrangler in comparison.
    As for the two Land Rovers, I bought the pack because I was attracted to the older Defender, but I found it borderline un-drivable. Maybe it needs various upgrades to improve stability, but I was unwilling to spend money to find out. The newer, bulkier Defender is less iconic, and it was the model I expected to sell, but has proven a bit more dependable so far. Cheers! //Rick

      Oh man thank you! Really glad you are finding the wrangler to be a good scout for you. It really is an awesome scout with its crawler suspension and it’s efficiency. I think out of all of them that you mentioned it for sure is a highlight. It really stands out to me which is also why I think I ranked it higher on my tier list as well. I think it was pleasing to know that there was a good addition to the scouts in the Jeep pack with the wrangler. The other ones have their own issues, but that truck really is fun to tear through some stuff! Really happy you’re enjoying it!

    My biggest problem with scouts is that most of them have really bad tires. I modded my XML files a bit to give some exclusive tires to vanilla scouts. For example, the Chevy CK1500 suddenly became extremely good when I gave it Jeep tires. The Hummer H2 is much better with bigger stock tires (same size as other available tires). The Scout 800 doesn't flip nearly as much when given Khan Marshall tires.
    I don't use vehicle mods as the majority of them are OP and ruin the fun for me, but doing these little tweaks doesn't break anything. In fact it brings more variety in a balanced way.

    Probably the biggest mention for me is NOT putting lifted suspension on vehicles, especially the Scout 800. Unless one is going through deep mud constantly for extended periods, it isn't really needed. By keeping the 800 at stock height, it makes it very capable for me and I use it extensively for scouting and supplying the heavier vehicles with repair and fuel.
    It always takes care to drive with how stiff the suspension is, making it a mediocre rock truck as best, but otherwise it has been a superb vehicle and far more useful than what most claim.

    Thanks for another great video!
    What makes the crawler suspension on the Wrangler so special is that the suspension is independent on all four wheels. Each of the four wheel suspensions moves independently of any of the other wheels, it is not linked in any way to the wheel on the parallel side. Only a few trucks in the game has this suspension setup and it makes a HUGE difference in stability. The Wrangler with the crawler suspension and the biggest mudtires is really unstoppable.
    You should check the winch strenght on the "Lo4F". It is a big plus for that scout. The winch has the strenght of a medium truck winch even though it still says it is a scout winch. The Lo4F with this winch and the generous fuel/repair add-on is a pretty good small rescue and support truck.

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  Рік тому +3

      Good insight on that. So the loaf doesn’t have a medium truck winch. The loaf winch is strong because winch strength is directly correlated to vehicle weight. The heavier the vehicle the stronger the winch. These calculations were found and done a while ago. I actually stumbled upon them on Reddit. I believe there is a strength multiplier for every winch and the vehicle has factors that contribute to that as well like weight, engine strength, addon weight, and even cargo weight from studies I’ve been seeing. Also the wedge yourself in trick can work with smaller vehicles tipping over larger ones. It’s a very odd calculation, but the heaviest vehicles have generally stronger winches in the simplest form

    Writing this before I finished video mind you.
    The Scout 800, by far my favorite "standard" Scout, in the right configuration it is extremely fuel efficient (does NOT need the biggest engine, smallest or second from smallest is all you need), it does become rather top heavy with raised suspension + roof rack, but the Electric winch + taking care not to place it in risky situations make up for it.
    The only times ive had the Scout 800 struggle is in the deepest of the deep snows and even then it have only been slowed down a lot, but never fully stopped.
    The Landrover is simply OP, it uses less fuel than any Vanilla Scout but has way WAY more power, so I dont count that one as fair, sadly.

    In regards to the trend of the Eastern European vehicles to have smaller engines. This sts from the early 1900's and taxes. When England and other countries started building and importing cars, two issues arose. Taxes and size.
    Their solution handled both, and continues to influence vehicle design to this day.
    Engine and vehicles sizes were massively varied in the early days of automobile manufacture. The most luxurious and expensive vehicles were gigantic even by today's standards. My 31 Packard, a high end luxury car, is a mid-low end of their offering. It has the base engine and is on the midsized chassis and is one of the lowest cost body styles. It has the 100 HP 319 I-8 engine, the 134.5" wheelbase, weighs 5,500 lbs and cost over $2,200 new. The Ford Model A of the same year had a 40hp 200" I-4 engine, 105.5" wheelbase, weighs 2,300 lbs and cost $850. My car is a midsized, low cost version. Some of the most luxurious cars of the era had costs exceeding $15,000 and more, with huge engines of sometimes 500+ inches in V12 and even V16 design. Wheelbase and weight was equally gigantic. To curb this trend of ever larger cars jamming up rather tight roadways present in the European continent, many countries taxed vehicles based on engine power. A European spec Model A had a mere 28hp, vs the 40hp of the US version.
    This trend spread to many countries, and even where it isn't used it still results in the majority of vehicles there having the same spec, since it is cheaper and easier to make 1 single vehicle and parts for everywhere rather than 2 versions of everything.
    Americans, on the other hand, pursued the "bigger is better" doctrine and continued making ever larger engines and ever larger cars, with some of the biggest coming about in the 60's and 70's before the gas crisis hit, forcing a change from giant, 502 powered 2door land yachts with 8mpg, to smaller and more practical cars of the 80's.

      I use scouts for scouting, and I'm not even talking about the Tatarin or F-750, but most of the time vehicles like the CK1500.
      Like where's the fun or challenge in unlocking a watchtower with a big truck? I used to use the Tatarin myself, drove that thing everywhere when I unlocked it in Taymir, scouted Rift with it when that was added, even did Kola region with it. But eventually scouting with a big vehicle that can go anywhere and drive over anything, it got boring. Around Season 2 I started using the other scouts, and I gotta say you'd be surprised where scout vehicles can actually get to.
      I've restricted the Tatarin to pretty much solely recovery and towing missions, as the Tatarin will winch tow stuff far more effectively then then those towing platforms on trucks. And I use trucks mainly for cargo and trailer hauling.
      Scouts just made things more fun in my opinion. Scouting with semi's, it's basically easy mode. And for me that eventually just got boring.

    That's how I run currently. No roof racks on anything be it scouts, trucks, etc. Only vehicles that carry extra supplies are my dedicated repair vehicles like the F-750 and Loadstar.
    It helps with the stability not having all that weight up top, and I'm pretty sure your vehicles natural fuel lasts longer as the scouts engines doesn't need to work as hard to push just the vehicle itself.

    There are some exceptions but in general, the scout class is pretty useless to me. If you run stock suspension, you get hung up on a pebble. If you do raised, you flip over from a pebble. Most of the time a smaller “full size” truck can do all the “scouting” you need. Granted, I’m fairly new and only have experience in the first 3 regions. I’m thinking they should have made more scout friendly maps, and incorporated more scout friendly tasks so people could actually get some use out of them.

    I just throw some moderately "stock" modded tires on my scouts, and it's kept them viable through end game. I really enjoy the whole scout class, and was sad as more and more super mud/snow started making them less viable to use. Something that gives like 1.9 Paved, 2.5 off, and 3.0 mud goes a long way in making the truck continue moving. As you said in the video, they don't suffer from power, just grip.
    YMMV if you decide to go the modded tire route, it's sometimes tempting to chuck the 8 8 8 ignore ice tires on :P

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  Рік тому

      Ya know I think if they woulda made scout only mission and created trails that they would be challenging instead of sticky mud/snow. I think this woulda kept scouts on the map to be used. In Amur there are these scout missions that you basically have to escort the scout to them because it just can’t do it on their own. Editing files and mods help for sure, but I think the developers can make this better moving forward with terrain building. Who knows, honestly I’m just a rando with an opinion, but I think it would help

    Im a person who loves land rover and range rover. My dad has always loved the original defenders (pre 2015) and owned one for a while. I don't really like the new defenders that much and that's why I don't really want the defender DLC, cause I'm really only paying for 1 vehicle. The new 90 & 110 imo are too much like range Rovers nowadays, they don't really look like the original defenders, and that makes me disappointed cause the original defender never changed in appearance, and if it did, not very drastic. The original defender I feel was much more of a multi-purpose vehicle dedicated more to function then form. The new defender feels a bit too much like a range rover. Same with the disco. I think saber should partner with land rover again and add a original 110. Feel like that would drive in more people to buy it. This next bit might be completely biased, but I feel like they both perform realistically.
