  • There was a touch of deja-vu last Thursday when the iconic but controversial canid, the dingo, came second in Cosmos’ Australian Mammal of the Year competition for the second year in a row.
Euan Ritchie, Professor of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation at Deakin University, is a major driving force behind Australian Mammal of the Year and champion of the dingo.
Cosmos spoke to him about 2023’s competition, the mammals he was excited to see showcased for the first time, and the success of highlighting not only our mammals, but their relationship to their environments too, for their conservation.
