Thankful for Secret Service men like Mr. Parr, police, and the many doctors, technicians, and nurses who cared for all who were shot on that day.

"We interrupt this program to bring you a special news bulletin...." I immediately said, "I bet the president was shot." That's what it was. She asked, "How did you know?" I said, "I didn't, but that's always the first thing that comes to mind when there's a bulletin important enough to interrupt regular programming." This was just 16 weeks after the assassination of John Lennon, so shootings were on my mind when it came to news bulletins.
