Hahaha! The Beverly Hillbillies is the first thing that comes to mind when I see one of these classic Imperials. I always looked forward to Drysdale pulling up in his.
definition of art "the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power." It took human creative skill to design the car. Back when this car was designed, I believe they still sculpted a model out of clay. I am pretty sure this car is being appreciated for its beauty. By the sounds of it, the owner/restorer does have a fairly emotional tie to the car. I'm sure it would stir emotions in others that may have a memory of this car from their earlier years. So yeah, it could be defined as art.
@@christopherkraft1327 It really is "Imperial " by Chrysler not Chrysler Imperial beacuse that's the way they were mercendised and marketed by Chrysler, At least from 1955 to 1975!!!!.
Happy to rewatch this presentation. Thought about it after watching first time. Yes and that hunter GREEN is really nice. Pulls in a little of the gaudiness( sp?). Cheers
As a kid, my dad bought a (used) '57 Imperial. Dad let my mom drive it home-he'd drive the '54 Ford 6-cylinder station wagon home after work. She'd never driven a car so powerful, so when she got on the freeway onramp, which had a 90º turn in it-she did what she always did in the station wagon, floored it. Needless to say, she did a 270, scared the heck out of her. She got the car straightened out, and we all made it home, all in one piece! I was 5 or 6, and thought the whole thing was fun.
Always called these winged giants "old lady cars" when I was a kid. I was more into muscle cars but came to appreciate their true beauty as I grew in age. Gorgeous machine.
First of all, the finish of the restoration is very wonderful. The abundant use of chrome gives it a beautiful and luxurious feel. Is the tail fin a symbol of the golden age of American cars in the 50's? It looks like a Cadillac from around the same time. The push button transmission is an innovative idea. It's surprising that the latest car has a switch instead of a shift lever, but did this car foresee the future? Hahaha
59 was the pinnacle, yes... I recently saw a whole documentary about how GM Olds, etc. rushed to change the designs they already had pre-planned for 59 because of what the GM dude saw through the fence at Chrylser but HArley Earl went on vacation so the 2nd guy let the designers go wild!!
This was when Imperial, Cadillac, and Lincoln were very distinctive from one another. And this car is absolutely gorgeous. I would have a very hard time NOT driving it several times a year.
Sad, many of these beauties were used in "demolition derbies" in the 60's and 70's. I believe some banned big, Chrysler products, like this one, because of their strong build quality and the difficulty it took to "demolish" them!
@@3713msg "Chrysler Imperial" means "Imperial" is the model, and "Chrysler" is the make. That is incorrect. This car is an "Imperial". The make is "Imperial" and the model looks like "Crown."
Dennis! Its not a Chrysler Imperial!!!! Its a Imperial Crown Southampton. Calling it a Chrysler Imperial is like calling a Lincoln Continental a Ford Lincoln. Imperial was a separate make from 1955 to 1975. No different than Plymouth, Dodge and DeSoto. That said great video! We need to see more Imperials, thanks for posting.
Enough of this debate over whether it’s a Chrysler Imperial, or Imperial by Chrysler. It’s one of the best designs ever by Virgil Exner, who just happened to work for Chrysler and all its automotive divisions.
You paid a dear price for this Impy. The color is right. Aftermarket A/C can be added for a fair price. A fine stereo system adds to the pleasure, like Sony.
A gorgeous Imperial!!! I can just picture Milburn Drysdale being driven around in this beauty!!! 👍👍
Hahaha! The Beverly Hillbillies is the first thing that comes to mind when I see one of these classic Imperials. I always looked forward to Drysdale pulling up in his.
As a kid, big fan of BH !! I think I'll go out by the see-ment pond, and pet the critters!
Milburn drove a black 1962 convertible
That car is piece of art

@Robert Erdei I'll say it's art.
Go drive a Picasso.

Thanks Dennis and to the owner. This one is so outstanding.....and I'm lusting again. It's gorgeous.
Had to watch this twice. It is so awesome. In my opinion best of the era.
Update: 5 times
Absolutely incredible machine. Mind blowing restoration. Lake Mirror Classic just around the corner.
It was fun to see the host's massive appreciation of this fabulous car, I feel the same way about it.
When I was a kid back in 1958 our neighbor had one like this in mint green. It was the talk of the neighborhood.
1959 ANYTHING is awesome!
I remember those Imperials. Beautiful cars and interior was unbelievable
Well done Sir ! Congratulations.
Awesome car
It sure is!
Oh my God the swivel seat is so amazing. 🔥 I love this car! 💖
It wasn’t that bad, only a three year restoration. Now that’s a guy with a love for his car.
It's all in how a person sees it.
$$$$
I want my '63 Imperial LeBaron back again. Wonderful car.
People who pay to restore these cars are saving automobile history for all of us 😊
@Flat Rock is 100% correct.
A beautiful car. And the chrome goes on forever. Nice ! Thank you for sharing!
Coral Gables 🌴🇺🇸 Beautiful car. We saw it in person 👍 Hermosa 🏄
I don't think the car show location is mentioned, was it Hermosa Beach?
Lakeland, FL. Lake Mirror Classic car show
This has to be your very best interview. You asked all the right questions. When you were finished I was satisfied.
TMI
🤣🤣🤣
Another Virgil Exner masterpiece!! Thanks for posting Dennis!!
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Do agree this car is dazzling.
Thanks Mr. Dennis. You've done it again...and I'll be tellin' my wife...holy smokes!
A true gem.
I comment a lot about Imperials because my father had them. My favorite was his 63 Southampton LeBaron.
the 63 is my fav next to the 65 LeBaron
@@youtubecarspottersguide1 The fins were eliminated in 63. I thought it looked much sleeker.
@@vincentbasso4903 yes sir thats why I like it the. best, 62 was odd with the tail light s up on top of the fins /fenders
I'd expect to see Perry Mason and Della Street to get out when that beauty pulled up..........Awesome !
Gorgeous Imperial !

Damn what an amazing car
What a classy automobile
I am not a Chrysler guy- but there is no denying the beauty in that ride.
OMG that the most beautiful car!!!!❤❤❤
Unbelievable beautiful machine 👍👍👍
A beauty. I especially love the interior, back window and back end.
Unbelievable beauty
1958 Imperial my love❤❤❤
THANK YOU SO MUCH. SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Always lusted for an Imperial, always. Came close in 1964
It's an "IMPERIAL!" By Chrysler but not a Chrysler imperial! 🙄 Having said that it's certainly a beautiful Automobile!!!👍😊
You mean: Imperial Crown Southampton by Chrysler Corporation :-)
What a gorgeous car.
Thanks for your video
Dennis the Imperial was a separate brand from 1955 until 1975
He knows!!!!!!!!!!!!
great looking car.....very nice to see.

IT'S NOT A CHRYSLER IMPERIAL BUT JUST A IMPERIAL! MARVIN FROM UTAH
Wow Impeccable I would love to see that car in person:

Nice
Nice job guys
Gorgeous ❤
Old Chryslers dont get the attention they deserve.
Its wild how much more luxurious these cars were in the 50's, then today. Compare this to the current Chrysler 300. Not even close

Stunning. 👍🇬🇧
For a Pennsylvania car, a three year restoration isn’t too bad. Given cars in the northeast and New England area tend to rust out due to the weather.
Impresionante automóvil precioso ❤
Wow!!!

Awesome.

Stunning.
Dennis the restoration is beautiful but,the car is an "Imperial" by Chrysler, not a Chrysler Imperial, I would think you would know that.
Nice video, I can’t imagine what the price of a car built like that would be today.
The Imperial name is much too good to lose!
Tell your wife, good marriages have NO secrets........😊❤💕
Dennis don't tell his wife how much he spent that might cause a divorce. LOL
Beautiful car! They don't make them like this anymore.
