When to use Paths not Shapes in Photoshop - 3 Must Know Scenarios
Learn some of the very few times you must use Paths in Photoshop rather than Shapes to perform a task. In this video I explain how paths can be stored inside files (including jpg images), how to stroke paths with brushes and how to create vector masks in Photoshop. All these techniques require you to be working with paths and will not work if you are using Shapes.

Thank you, you solved a mistery for me! Now I know why vector masks appears in my layers sometimes when I just want an inverted layer mask, it's because I press Ctrl accidentaly sometimes instead of Alt

How would I create a path that just is not continuous? I want a path that is in the shap of a sun and the rays of a sun. I want to apply a brush stroke to the path and brush has little diamonds on it.
I want it to go in a circle and down each sun ray. Right now it goes down and up each sun ray. thank you
