Watching Syd's hands on those flowy descents is eye-opening. I get that you are a pro racer, but I see so many places where I'd be on the brakes and you just trust your tire traction and whip through the corners. It's a masterclass in descending confidence. I hope that when the time is right in your race career that you can teach the next generation of racers, not only your skill, but your confidence and positive attitude.
What I noticed in this vid in order of appearance: 1. What a Derp Hound. Who's a good boi?! 2. That new kit is killer. 3. OMG what a beautiful area. First climb up through all the rock formations was amazing. 4. You and Kait were flying on the descent - looked soo fun. 5. Trails in Gunny are as good as the scenery. 6. POV doesn't give an accurate depiction of speed (or steepness). The vid of you through intersections and rest areas shows how fast you are actually going. 7. 40 miles of singletrack riding there is seriously legit. Racing 40 miles? HF Batman! Your training is really paying off. I have been watching you recover from your injury during the pandemic. You are an inspiration for anyone recovering from an injury, but more importantly, this channel is a good "map" for how can be done. 8. You are super fit, know how to make a bike go and carry speed, but your obvious super-power is descending. How do you put yourself in a place to leverage that skill on every DH in an XC race? 9. You have a clear understanding of how your race went down. More info for the feedback loop. 10. I think I need to go to Gunnison. It's gorgeous, and the trails look sick. I'm from Seattle, and ride a couple times a week, but I lived in PHX from 95 - 99. I live in the midst of an embarrassment of singletrack riches, but I really miss that kind of arid climate riding. I love your channel - thank you.
Every time I have to did deep on a hard climb ( 65 year old - road biker ) - I have started calling out to you! "Com'on Macky! Com'on Macky! - gets me motivated every time! Keep up the great vids!
Syd, you are amazing and one badass girl on a bike. Every time I watch one of your videos your climbing is crazy good but DAMN those descents scare the shit out of me and I’m sitting at home watching on an ipad 😂 watching you come back from your injury and do so well has been so much fun to watch. Also love the new kit !!! Keep inspiring and enjoying life with Macky riding bikes around the world.
Syd, you're awesome! You were right behind the winner at one point. I think you were faster than her on the downhill, while filming her butt. Thanks. Take it easy.
I love that you guys come to race this! My hometown! To think when it first started it was 60 miles long!! 😮 you nailed “kill hill” by the way! Great job!
4:11 Not bike-related at all, but a trick I learned years ago for counting on your fingers is to consider your thumb to be worth "5". Thumb (5) + index (1) + middle (1) = 7 This lets you count 0 through 9 on one hand, or 0 through 99 on two hands (right hand is ones digit and left hand is tens digit).
Another amazing video. Syd you looked great and I think it was great that went for even though the end was a struggle. Never gonna know where you stand unless you give it everything to stay with the group you want to be in. Can't wait for the next video.
Doing my first race in two weeks from now. And I am very nervous. Never done a race and never a ride with so many climbing. Love seeing your videos. It inspires me.
Great job. The day you can’t find something to improve on, is the day you stop racing. I love the the fact, you and Macky do these brutality honest self assessments of your races. So fun to see your progress. More training focused on climbs. Once you conquer the climbs, look out everyone.
Not only is different when ride the course in opposite, in the north east where we have fairly dramatic season changes, they are much different in different seasons. On one trail I ride locally there's an old foundation for what I assume was a house. In summer, we pass not 10 feet from it, but you can't see it. In winter, it's right there.
Great job Sid , thanks for keeping it real and for sharing your struggle. I discovered 4yrs ago that if I dont consume any caffine 24+ hrs before a race I dont get leg cramps.
Sorry to ramble (I'm a semi-retired educator) Let's just say the person who won earned 100%,(and if my math is correct) then you were only 4.49% behind her - that's the equivalent of earning a 95.5%. So clearly, your performance among that group of amazing athletes, is . . . well, let's put it this way, anyone in my class that earns a 95.5% on a rigorous, lengthy exam should be damn proud of that performance and you should be too! 245(x)=234 X=234/245 X=95.51% If you performed the same way on every event during the season, then your equivalent GPA would be 3.82! (95.5/100)*4 = 3.82 And that is Magna cum laude territory = and that's AWESOME!!! But the most important metric doesn't require an analysis of tangible values. Regardless of the numbers, or who completed first or last, as long as you both love what you're doing then you are wining! And don't forget, both of you have a large group of online fans cheering you on! Crossing the finish line first is great, of course, but the attitude, determination, and amazing skills you have both developed is really what brings me back to watch the results from your next event. Thank you for sharing your story, your passion for the world's most entertaining, demanding, and enjoyable sport (yes, highly subjective but in my opinion, it's true - ha).
Hey can you guys make a video for you gps dash board you guys use for your races and training, if you have made the video please let me know which one it is thanks again keep up the go work !!

Congrats! Kait is an absolute beast on a bike including a world champion 24 endurance race so being in the top 5 in that list is fantastic.
Syd loves your attitude and you should be very proud of yourself.

Syd, you're awesome! You were right behind the winner at one point. I think you were faster than her on the downhill, while filming her butt. Thanks. Take it easy.
Good finish Syd. Way to hang in there!! Great improvement over last year. Proud of you!! 👍👊
I don’t do much xc style riding, mostly trail/enduro, but man was I super into your video. I loved following your race journey. Keep ‘em coming!
Good job Syd! I’ve done the 32 both ways, and rode the 20 this year same day as your 40. Keep it up!
Great result. Thanks so much for sharing. It is always awesome to watch a strong descender catch people on the downs!
I love that you guys come to race this! My hometown! To think when it first started it was 60 miles long!! 😮 you nailed “kill hill” by the way! Great job!
That ride looked brutal. Congrats on the new PR and pushing through!

Bravo! Fantastic result :)
Awesome work, always good to see results from hard work. Thanks for posting.
Great job Sid , thanks for keeping it real and for sharing your struggle. I discovered 4yrs ago that if I dont consume any caffine 24+ hrs before a race I dont get leg cramps.
Might be personal as professional cyclist take a lot of caffeine to get an advantage
Great day on the bike, for sure
So awesome!!
Some of that was seriously fast speederbike descending...
Be proud! Well done!
Great race!
I like the comment "...faster than me, today." (but unstated: not for always) Great video and congrats on facing a personal demon.

ONE HOUR WARMUP! ALWAYS! Mountain bike racing is go from the start. You really need to be fully warmed up before going hard.
Curious if you have ever tried oval chain rings? Or shorter cranks?
syd is nice

Next time Macky gets the new car?😂
02:40 that TrailForks map data is wrong, it says 1.3 km interesting 🤔
Lol weird it's correct in miles 😂 trail forks apparently as bad at kilometers as we are
Hey can you guys make a video for you gps dash board you guys use for your races and training, if you have made the video please let me know which one it is thanks again keep up the go work !!
