As a kid, like most of us, we loved the game, but, also as kids, most of us didn't really understand that it was an art program. As adults, especially with Autism and ADHD like me, we begin to see the utility of the software. This would have been a wonderful tool to have today if it was as easy to run today as it was back then, because the sounds, the buttons, the animations, all of this stuff would have stimulated our creativity and actually get us to make art with Magic Artist. It was ahead of its time by at least 20 years. It would have been more widely used today had it come out at this time. I think it would have actually been a great idea to market this not towards kids, if it was, but towards teenagers and adults. It's that age where we begin to fully understand what this software was created to be and actually use it for that purpose - an art program. Though considering the game's age, autism and ADHD were not understood in any real depth like it is today, so perhaps the outcome would have been more difficult to change considering the relatively low awareness of neurodivergent types.
Aw yes, this was when Disney actually cared about us rather than just making a profit. They were eager to involve us in their animation process and teach us how to do it. That way we could one day animate like them and help spread the Disney magic that made so many childhoods across multiple generations! If it weren't for programs like this teaching us the different steps in creating artwork, I would never have the same calling for animation that I do now! 💝
My elementary school had certain times where we could order books or games from Scholastic magazines sent to the teachers. I saw this game in the magazine and my mom ordered it. My sister and I would play it together all the time, just goofing around, and when I played it I also liked watching the tutorial videos. It was a lot of fun.
The ORIGINS of Mickey Mouse: 2:44 The ORIGINS of Minnie Mouse: 10:09 The ORIGINS of Donald Duck: 24:17 The ORIGINS of Daisy Duck: 17:43 The ORIGINS of Goofy: 32:15 The ORIGINS of Pluto: 41:19
I've been a fan of image editing for several years now and I've gotten pretty good at it. I'm pretty sure this game made me interested, since I played a lot of this as a kid.
With this game you was also possible to create slideshows with music clips! Can you put them in a video? You put the boring part of drawing disney characters...
'Oh yes! This is the s**t!' -Filthy Frank Why is people not talking about this one? This one is cool! In fact, screw Adobe Photoshop, THIS is where Photoshopping all (not) began! In the wonderful world of Disney! I hope they will redux the whole game and add more content...
Thank you so much for uploading this! This is so my childhood! :D Also, does anyone know the name of the tune that plays over the Minnie Mouse model sheet? Because I've been looking for that on UA-cam, but I don't know the name of it.
The drawing tutorials are fantastic, but next time, please follow the steps in order. How can the axis lines be referenced if they're not even drawn yet?
You're luckier when it comes to this game. When I had it, I only had the demo. In it, only Mickey's model sheet is available, and as for the wacky tools, only ladybugs and candy were available... that's all the limits I remember.
It's funny that you said that, because I also had a copy of it a long time ago. It's like you were the animator at your home computer. I donated this game to charity, because my user account of the PC doesn't have good virtual memory anymore. It really makes me feel so sad about it, because I got it for Christmas when I was a preteen if my memory serves me correctly.
I was totally obsessed with this thang, played it for hours every day after school as a kid, holy damn, memories!
Forget Photoshop. This is where it's at
Jep. Adobe will go bankrupt once more people notice Disneys Magic Artist 😂

+1990s Aesthetics I doubt if you'll be able to get it running on Windows 7. I had to use virtual box with windows 98.
I've had trouble running this on windows 2000. it installs fine but won't boot for some reason
I can't install it because it says that window 64 is not compatible... how can I solve this?
Thank you so much for uploading this! This is so my childhood! :D
Also, does anyone know the name of the tune that plays over the Minnie Mouse model sheet? Because I've been looking for that on UA-cam, but I don't know the name of it.
