What is Crude Oil?
It is important to understand a few basic properties of crude oil, the key raw material processed in a refinery.
Crude oils are not all the same, but rather vary in color, composition, and consistency. They are generally classified as” light” or “ heavy”, and “sweet” or “sour”.
Unlike water, crude oil is not a chemical compound. Rather, it is a complex mixture of molecules, consisting of compounds formed from hydrogen and carbon atoms, called “hydrocarbons”. Just as water boils at 212 degrees Fahrenheit, each of the compounds in crude oil has its own boiling temperature.
In general, the more carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon molecule, the higher the temperature at which it boils and vaporizes. It is this phenomenon that permits crude oil to be refined into so many different products.

That's because the industry has dishonestly classify oil as a fossil fuel, which it isn't.
The reason for the lie?; to keep prices as high as possible, claiming that it is scarce. The fact is there is so much oil in the ground that we will never run out of it.

So where is synthetic oil coming from? If it comes from crude, then it was created by Nature, and is not synthesized. My opinion is that the term "synthetic oil" is a linguistic flimflam.
"Oh my oil gets dirty so fast, after I change it" ....So people want an oil that stays clean, regardless of what kind of contaminants and crud the engine is creating, and passing into the crankcase etc.. Clogged up engine, but the oil stays clean!! How awesome!!. I guess I need a brain transplant. My brain tells me that when I see crankcase oil getting dirty, the detergents etc. are doing what they're supposed to do and absorbing all the contaminants, etc. And that's a good thing (dirty oil and having to change it)..
