In 1998, my friend and I decided to drive from Columbus, Ohio to see them in Pittsburgh. We were 17. For some reason, we just kept going. To Philly, NYC, Boston, down to the south, DC, Tampa, Orlando, Miami. We slept in the car, a busted Pontiac 6000 with no power steering. We "showered" at truck stops.
They're all awesome and truly wholesome guys. They let us backstage at every show. They were soooo nice to us, dedicated Nihilism to me at the show in Orlando. The car broke down in Tampa and we hitchhiked to Miami for their last east coast show of that tour. They bought us plane tickets back to Ohio. Truly the greatest people and such an awesome few weeks of my life way back then. Lars gave me a shirt he wore at every show that he had deconstructed and spray painted. Matt sat on a curb with me and my friend just playing the bass for like two hours. I still have the shirt and the very few pictures we took. Any time I hear them, it's much more than the music for me. It's a time in my life that was just so awesome.
What a cool story. Never met them unfortunately but they’re one of the few bands from my teenagehood that I can look back on and be proud I liked.
I saw them in the old Limelight NYC around 1995, they were definitely larger than life and full of charisma
Would love to see the pics and memorabilia!
@@jasonroberts2249 I was there! unfortunately dont remember much that night
That is amazing.
A lot of people think they're espousing a nihilistic worldview in this song, but pay attention to the lyrics: "Nihilistic feelings are moving. If I try really hard, I'll see right through them." It's a song about Lars going into his old neighborhood and getting those feelings, but not celebrating nihilism.
WHAT AN INSIGHT!
+MacGuffin Hahaha, being Nihilistic myself I can see exactly how that happens lol. I go into my old area where I used to live I get Nihilistic and reminders of how shit and depressing it was to live there. Now I live in an area right next door to my old one, which is just as shit and depressing, I'm still Nihilistic and reminded of how shit and depressing, albeit slightly not much better, it is to live here. I'm just concentrating now on saving money so I can move to a Cottage somewhere in the middle of fucking nowhere like the country. I think I'd like that lol.
Alex Brook dude, you dont get to be nihilistic, you dont happen to get nihilistic, u should start reading some hermeneutics
1:34
This is sad, because nihilism is for me the only believable and rational phylosophy.
Tim's lyrics are amazing. When you take the time to listen to them or read them, you realize that he is a poet!
Except lars wrote majority of all the lyrics.
Apart from what that person said, you mean when you can understand him?

I don’t know you but I like you
Come into the union district
Drive down on Sharmon Palms
White ghettos paint a picture
Broken homes and broken bones
I was so full of scotch I could not stand up
I was hittin the shots and I moved to a cup
Release me from moral assumption
Total rejection total destruction
Nihilistic feelings are movin
If you try really hard
You'll see right through them
(Nihilism, nihilism, nihilism, nihilism)
Come into the union district
Drive down in Sharmon Palms
White ghettos paint a picture
Broken homes and broken bones
Raking a path of self destruction
Not affected by the repercusions
Lady in the billboard offer me a drink
Said not right now i need time to think
Nihilistic feelings are movin
If I try real hard
I'll see right through them
(Nihilism, nihilism, nihilism, nihilism)
Nihilism

(Hey, hey, hey, hey)
A friend of mine came over with lets go on a cd 9 years ago, it was the first and probably last time I ever bought an album after hearing it once. Will always be a favorite.
@pointlessvidz13 Answer: Rancid`s Let`s Go was released by Epitaph Records. Epitaph Records releases are distributed by WMG and EMI, two large corporations sponsored by UA-cam to have advertisements placed in their videos so that all parties invlved can make some money off of our media consumption.
Мега группа...слушаю их с 1997 года или 96 непомню....со школы еше !!!! до сих пор вставляет!!!!!!
Tim is so punk his liberty spikes are indestructible when Lars pulls his hat off his spikes are perfect lol
That is called knox gelatin my good man
Lets go skate
Let's Go!
Let's gooooo
Let's fucking hit the streets boys!
🎯🎯🎯
@SKANDPUNKS I'm just pointing out to people that Rancid uses nihilism in their song title, not because the song has anything to do with nihilism (don't even bother trying to argue that it does, it doesn't), but instead to attract people to the song.
Rancid is one of the BEST!
Meh
I love the older punk from the 90"s. Rancid rulezz!
the midwest skins of the 80's were more authentic,IMHO
this is one of their best songs
2016 and still listening. This! never gets old.
@gunslingr100 In case this wasn't a rhetorical question: this is Epitaph Records UA-cam channel. Epitaph Records puts banners on it's UA-cam videos to advertise upcoming releases. Bring the Horizon are signed to Epitaph Records.
Bad arse!! Love love love this song and vid. Never gets old....
My thing is wear what you wanna wear, and don't think of what other people will think about it. In my case, if you're trying to impress me, you probably won't cuz i see that you only want me to see what you're shoving in my face. If you wear it and i notice the good thing about it, i'll respect it.
The whole lifestyle is about being you, not trying to keep away from everyone. It's just that most people don't or try not to accept the style.
Anyway, Rancid kicks no matter what music you like
Agreed!
Fuck politics!
Question Authority!
We All are alive and We All will Die!
This was the 1st punk video I ever saw. It was on vhs tape back in '97 I was 10 & ive been rollin' ever since! ( the next video was a NOFX song off their punk in drublic album - allso one of my favorites!)
'let's go' was the first album I picked up as a kid. and i'm thankful every f'n minute
When Lars is in the car he sits with his neck at a 45% angle, I know how he feels
Two years on. Still know how it feels.
@@fujifilm5127 Lol, he's tall-ish, but not that tall. If that's what you meant.
Nothing to do with height ..he has a tall mohawk😉
This is the first rancid song I heard when I know nothing about punk rock, a good first song ide say
This album will forever remind me of playing World of Warcraft as a 13 year old and then going to band practice, hehe
same, me lvling a DK with a Rancid playlist playing in the background
Funny because it reminds me of getting fucked up as a 16 year old on a slew of drugs and alcool.
@@micsir888 there ya go
Wow. So raw and authentic. I'm impressed. Every bit as good as Morrisey.
God, as I go through Rancid vids, it only gets better and better.
Just be yourself. Wear what you like & be happy with yourself. Don't let others succeed in bringing you down
Can't say I'm too big a fan of anything after time won't wait but I gotta show love to the early years, grew up with it and still appreciate it. Just wish they were still playin like this.
check out the interrupters i think you may like that!
This has been one of my favorite Rancid songs ever. Great lyrics.
Should have 1 billion views.
People, calm down. This is good music and you want to ruin it by arguing over random shit? Music is an international language, and its one everyone can enjoy, so sit back, and listen, and smile.
I have spent so much time in metal forums enduring all that "not metal enough" crap... and now this... give me a break! Just enjoy the bloody music! And if you don't like it, so be it and leave! Damn it!
First time I heard this song was in 05 and it’s always blown my mind
this song was one of their all time best
Nihilism- The rejection of all religious and moral principles, in the belief that life is meaningless.
I remember singing this with my friends when I was 13 years old.
It's funny how they're riding in a car in the intro, yet they say they take the bus everywhere. Kick ass song anyhow. GG, Rancid.
@datruthisSKA
tnx man. this band rocks. im having problems with Pandora so searching for music's is like walking barefoot ^^,
Best Rancid song ever!
from their second album, Let's Go!
masters of intrumentation like mick jones, jerry dammers, and captain sensible
nah im seeing them in Providence tonight...did you go ??
This was the first rancid song i ever heard. Man it's great
Coming from a previous religious dad, this made so much sense!
Middles aged and it still makes sense!
The 70s era of PUNK has passed away, but you'll PUNK ON!!!!
@longhairedpunk1 what about Sicko, Crimpshrine, Superchunk, some Jawbreaker, early Lemonheads, the list goes on. I don't like to classify punk, I think that classifying a genre that tries to break free of classification is kinda sacreligous.
thank you for leaving a comment that has to do with the video. yes it is a great song from a great band.
all time favorite band!!!!
@XxShAn3rxX if im not mistaken, isn't that a quote from billie joe from green day?
@gutiloslos I guess you only read that last sentence of my comment, or you would have noticed the band at the time was "falling in reverse" not new found glory.
excellent.
nice! i just randomly searched for nihilism, i didn't know it was a punk song. this is cool
Why does Lars pull off Tim's hat. Then Tim put it right back on?
Is is too hot for a hat? Is is a mild teasing about an L.A. sunny day?
Hes just teasing
That's just what friends do, we steal each others hats
Shows playfulness and sincerity in their friendship
@gunslingr100 Oh, of course. I'm not mad or anything. I wasn't sure if you were genuinely asking or just complaining.
One of the best!!!
I used to play this band for high impact aerobics because the B.P.M.'s are great.
grandiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
RANCID ROCKS!!
first, lets put a definition to the "selling out" term: selling out is when the record company starts saying the band what to do on stage and what to say on their lyrics. Ive never heard of a rancid song that isnt written by tim or by lars or by matt. Putting your videos up on mtv? whats the problem with it?
What year was this 1994?
@longhairedpunk1 They're the original pop punk band actually. This is a well known fact.
Nihilism isnt just the belief in no afterlife ( thats mainly the atheistic part), its the belief that nothing has a purpose and only the physical exists, ie no such thing as good or evil because morality is a human construct in the mind.
Definitely had the let’s go patch on jacket in high school
i love this song
@longhairedpunk1 WHAAAAAT?!?! Descendants and early Guttermouth kick ass.
i ive in a white ghetto and im a proud skin in Tucson, az i love these dudes
Punks Not Dead!

@IscariotXVI so this New Found Glory ad doesnt fit with my Nihilsm Rancid video?? lol
i enjoy this music
@toddcochran85 That second self titled album in 2000 was nasty too!!!! Possibly their best. I really do like them all though.
@AbiTheRambler i know,i dont like skull city :(,i prefer this by alot.and also have you ever heard battering ram!,thats such a fucking awesome song from 1991
This video is tight.

Zaje*isty kawałek, fajnie ze znowu jest na youtubie. PUNK NOT KRET !

Needs more shots of the drummer.
Can somebody answer me please what the make, model and year is of Matt's car in this video?
Some people in the comments section are making mean comments 😆
Beavis and Butt Head predicted crap getting out of hand.
@beads6666 nice one. i didnt get to see me till i was 21 and i didnt get my first tat till i was 19.i cant remember the gig tho i did 2 much coke and drank 2 much.
@pelkeroni Hiy, dinny diss Escape the Fate, they're not the worst band of their type.
This sounds like it was from "Let's Go" which was from either 1991 or 1992 I believe...
yeah my really good friend is gonna see them in may.
@kamikazemkad
BTW... it's PapaFish for the reader's sake.
hello rancid
@releitse88 was that actually an advert i thought it was a piss take or am i being dumb
@SadKetchup lol, is that where that came from? I honestly don't even remember where I read it. but it sure as hell describes punk xD
@deathbox2 I think you mean COPY and paste, and I didn't. As i've said, I read it somewhere and agreed with, being my reason for using it to reply to that one dudes statement. And people who use the word trendy are trendy.
punk is a musical movement from the late eighties in response to virtuoso acts like the who, and ELP. Punk embodies the idea that music is for any and everyone who has something to say, regardless of ability to sing or play. Punk is an expression of the collective realization that the realm of musical expression is as approachable as any art, and a big fuck you to the masters of instrumentation.
ITS STILL THERE AND IT ALWAYS WAS PLAYING MUSIC JUST BECAUSE, A MILLION REASONS WHY, DINOSAURS WILL
I love rancid, beautiful song :D
Dude, I fucking love Rancid. I'm just complaining about all these little kids that think Rancid started it all or something. You gotta give credit to the geezers who started it...and yes I love the Pistols, and the Ramones
And so do I but neither of them started it. It was a band called Death
🤘🔥🔥🔥
@gunslingr100 because they're both signed to epitaph?
The fact ETF comes up in the reccomended makes me smile :D!
When "punk" finally got commercial in 1996.. Green day, The Offspring and Rancid got there day out in the sun. They all come from legitimate roots. They were all part of a scene but In my opinion.... Rancid are true to their ethos.
i like the bass rancid is hard on bass
in my book THE BEST!
Aren't they from SF? They used to play gigs with Greenday I'm sure.
East bay Oakland. Lars is from Stockton.
