Thank You very much. My trailer left turn was not working and it’s a newer trailer. I checked all fuses, left turn not waiting at all. After cleaned connections all works.
I find a small piece of folded paper placed around the bottom half of the pigtail plug that slides in the receptacle can really help snug it down if you have a loose wobbly connection. Can make the difference between lights working or not.
We pull trailers for a living. Just buy the brush to clean them. Cost is less than 20 bucks. Then this won't be an issue in the future. I bought mine some 15 yrs ago. I leave it in the door pocket so i know where it is.
This is why i like the solid pins on the newer trailer sockets. But at some point you are going to have to replace the socket or the plug. If you replace the abs permacoil don't buy the garbage one's at the truck stop, spend the money on a phillips. Also not a huge fan of the plastic plugs, zinc all the way.
I say is better to replace the cord end if its a serviceable part,or the cord entirely. If you do the zip tie thing, your not fixing anything, your patching! The natural gravity of the cord weight hanging there will wear out the plug(plastic) and or the female connection which is the cord. The spreading of the pins I dont recommend it. Had replaced lots of 7way sockets due to broken pins. I've seen some tractors that have a pogo stick look like that is spring loaded to help keep weight off plug,i think its worth having. Remember, preventive maintenance is the best rule of thumb.
I never needed to clean the contacts...Don't use a screw driver, use a knife....with the screw driver you'll fight getting the the tight prongs spread apart...He also risked snapping one prong by over gapping....they do snap and now you have real problems....also carry tooth picks, you stick them under the plug to tighen the gap....if all else fails use the other end of the light cord.
Get 30 zipties and 6 napkins then park in a pilot or flying j, put some gasoline on top of the batteries and a metal bar going across the positive (red) and negative (black) terminals sit back and watch how your simple problem solves itself. These are tricks d.o.t. don't want you to know.
I would just check the cable and input first then the fuses. If your truck acts normally but the trailer is funky then it’s something in the wire harness probably

That crew driver idea saved me. Thank you.
Use spray electrical cleaner and q-tips works well too.... then add some dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. good vid.
Thanks for the tip buddy! This is why UA-cam is awesome.
Tyler Horner thank u I just try it it work good
You can also use an old load seal and stick it in the port with the green cable. That will make it hold firm.
I learned something new! Thank you! The spreading of the contacts solved my problem.
This hack is d best!! Really helped me. Kudos boss

You can also use the plastic load seal that they give you cut the ends off and it fits perfectly.

Thank u so much i just fix my Tralier light I just try it it work
You’re welcome buddy, good job on your repairs 😎👍
Light have power but littles on trailer does not turn on our round end dump.
Instead of zip tying it like that, fold it in two, and wedge the zip tie between the bottom of the pig wire and the light housing
You Have to be easy when you spread the pins they are brittle and will break then you have to replace the plug.

If the male and female socket are wornout better replace with a new one. They are not expensive. It is better than zip ties.
Did you not watch the video, you have to buy zip ties and napkins bro, NAPKINS +zipties save lives.

You know they actually make a tool for cleaning that stuff.
One of my brake lights stay on and they don't come off what do I do?

your brake light switch may be bad.
if you have a trolley vale make sure it not on.
@@TruckDriver326 switch? You mean relay?
According to this video......buy a shopping cart full of zip ties and napkins, that solves pigtails, blowouts, and the occasional blown head gaskets.
thanks bud

Or just clean it out with brake clean works perfectly 🤦♂️

Careful spreading those pins, they break super easy then you are fked.
