  • In this video, you will see a complete walking tour through Chamonix Mont Blanc. We will also visit Aiguille du Midi (3.842 m) and embark on a mountain trail to the beautiful Cascade du Dard (Dard Waterfall). The video will provide details about the best restaurants, cafes, hotels, and other useful information for when you visit this city.
    -----------------
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (usually shortened to Chamonix) is a resort area near the junction of France, Switzerland and Italy. At the base of Mont Blanc, the highest summit in the Alps, it's renowned for its skiing. Year-round, cable cars take visitors up to several nearby peaks with panoramic views, including Aiguille du Midi above town, and Pointe Helbronner, across vast glacier fields on the Italian border.
    -----------------
The Aiguille du Midi is a 3,842-metre-tall (12,605 ft) mountain in the Mont Blanc massif within the French Alps. It is a popular tourist destination and can be directly accessed by cable car from Chamonix that takes visitors close to Mont Blanc.
At the mountain's summit there is a panoramic viewing platform, a snack bar, a café, a restaurant, and a gift shop. Even in summer, temperatures in the open viewing areas can fall to −10 °C (14 °F), and visitors require both warm clothing and protection from very bright sunlight.[5] Because of the danger, tourists are unable to leave the visitor facilities on the Midi's summit. However, mountaineers and skiers can pass through a tunnel to reach the steep and extremely exposed ice ridge to descend to the glacier below.
In December 2013, a glass skywalk called "Step into the Void" opened at the top of the Aiguille du Midi peak. The view is 1,035 m (3,396 ft) straight down, and one can see Mont Blanc to the south. A further tourist attraction called "Le Tube" opened in 2016. It consists of an enclosed tubular walkway that completely circles the summit.
    -----------------
The Mer de Glace ("Sea of Ice") is a valley glacier located on the northern slopes of the Mont Blanc massif, in the French Alps. It is 7.5 km long and 200 metres (660 ft) deep but, when all its tributary glaciers are taken into account, it can be regarded as the longest and largest glacier in France, and the second longest in the Alps after the Aletsch Glacier.
    -----------------
The Dard waterfall (Cascade du Dard) is a beautiful waterfall located at 1,233 m of altitude. With a height of 20 m, easily accessible, it offers a view of the Aiguilles Rouges range, the Bossons glacier and Mont Blanc. Located in the woods, it allows for a refreshing break in the heart of summer. The presence of an adjacent bar enriches this short walk.
The Dard stream is born from the meltwater of the Pélerins glacier at 2,300 meters above sea level. This glacier, which is very sensitive to various climatic actions, accumulates spring water in its subglacial cavities. In 2009, the bridge downstream of the waterfall was carried away by the rupture of one of these pockets of water. These episodes of floods, of which the best known of the Alps is the one that destroyed the thermal baths of Saint Ger-vais in 1892, they marked the collective memory. Today, the study and understanding of these phenomena allows better control of this risk.
From the parking lot, take the wide road that enters the forest and continue along it.
The Dard waterfall (Cascade du Dard) is located about 3 minutes on foot, just behind the Cascade du Dard restaurant (or 1h through the forest from the Chamonix parking lot, behind Aiquille du Midi cable car building).

I visited Chamonix in September last year with my dad. We had two weeks and got a summer lift pass for most of the time. The scenery is nothing but stunning. The cable car from Aiguille du midi (FR) to Pointe Helbronner (IT) was an unforgettable experience. It takes you high above the Mer de Glace glacier with absolutely amazing views.

Very cool! Unfortunately, I caught the cable car closed to Helbronner. Greetings from the train!

Hi, regarding the mont blanc panoramic cable car.
I have a UK visa card, will they accept that as payment?

@@cragus2004 I would see no reason why not. Visa is very well accepted worldwide. I paid at the cashier on the top station of Aiguille du Midi with vPay debit card. (We already had a multi-day Mont Blanc mulitpass for the ride up to Aiguille)

‼‼‼ ENGLISH: I appreciate your advice, but it is a very dangerous place and not many people know how to inquire about the dangers they are exposed to on this route. However, if there are people who want to get to the Emosson dam, my advice is to take the bus that leaves from the village of Finhaut, Switzerland. The bus stop is right next to the train station of the same name. It is important to inquire about every aspect of the route you will follow and to make sure you have the appropriate equipment, food, and water with you. Your safety should be the priority wherever you go.
