I am an old fart - grew up in the world when drafting was the way of the world. I Love parametric modeling (Acad, ProE, Solidworks etc) and I never want to go back the the lost world of Inking and blueprints. However, this is a great way to teach the fundamentals. As a ME I do a lot of sketching to explain concepts and to convey information to the modeling (drafting, designers) staff. I do miss the world of being able to talk to the Machinist, I learned so much from them! For example if a machinist has to pull out a calculator you have created bad working drawings. Good Video
Great point. I say that all of the time: every time I have to take out my calculator to add up or figure out dimensions, that's a risk of making a mistake.
Whenever I do lines always brushed microscopic bits of graphite 0ff the vellum b4 proceeding further. And I always kept my lead holder tip into a ball of clay after using it so as not to get graphite bits on my vellum!
Whenever drawing a vertical line or even a horizontal line I draw the line that's farthest from my hand first that way I don't drag microscopic bits of graphite across the vellum.
It's over fifty years since i last did any tecnical drawing, i have clean forgotten how to do that, what's that expression , "use it or lose it." Seems all too true.
That's a nice ellipse approximation. In CAD you can try that construction and compare it to an enclosed ellipse, which is the correct isometric circle, and they are not that different visually, although noticeably different.
you prolly dont give a shit but does anyone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Ronnie Sullivan I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.

Been drafting for 40 years and never saw that technique for sharpening a compass point. Good work!
When would you Sharp your compus lead to chisel point?

Cool, I learned this in highschool back in the 80's!

This content is so interesting, thanks for sharing.

Enjoyed Phil!
ATB, Robin
where did you get that compass? @thetoolanddieguy
I'm learning so much. Thanks

@Ronnie Sullivan It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much, you really help me out :D
@Fletcher Abdiel happy to help =)
Two more essential drawing tools are the soft erasure and erasing shield.
I’d love a copy of the book. Who was the author and publisher? Great work, mate. Love it.
I like.
