Yes, me too. As a boy, I spoke to him after he'd been wrestling at Eltham Pools in SE London. He was waiting at the bus stop, and was perfectly polite and friendly towards me, and happily signed my autograph album.
Takes me back to my youth. World of sport, wrestling from Madely( pronnounced madly in Hull) Street baths, scrambling featuring Arthur Lambkin, Rugby League and the great Eddie Waring, up and under, allus a coat colder on the east coast and the dreaded early bath and now and then Stewart and McAfferty chasing each other round a running track. All in glorious black and white. Wonderful. X
It's some time in the 1980's....Saturday, you're eating your tea of chips, PEK chopped pork and beans watching 50 year old blokes from Doncaster grapple
I wish I'd have met Mick. One wrestler hated but I liked him. He made Saturday TV bearable. I miss him and his antics. You won't get another one like him.. It's all American actors now trying to pass it off as wrestling!!!
I was fortunate enough to play a round of golf with mick, on a celebrity golf day at Fullwell Manor , what a lovely fella, we had a laugh on the round, we said Jacki Pallo was our favourite and did ballet jumps... shame was all that fame Mick had, he said he earnt more money on a golf round that he did wrestling, great man, great entertainer...not sure about being a sports man.
Loved Mick McManus, one of the greatest all time heels.

Saturday afternoons the way they used to be before cookery programmes and realty shows took over the weekend tv schedules
