No, I haven’t been yet so I don’t know. I would be inclined to start with 3-4 in a few spots around the property and still get porta-Jons for the needed extra capacity. My guess is, people would favor the composting and wait a little bit if needed to use one.
There are a few different compounds the bags can be made of, and yes, they will break down in a compost pile during the 2 years required to assure safe use of human manure.

Guess is that the dumb heirs sold their portions of the land; better wealth if they had cared to become intelligent in particular ways.

Yes, I would just change it out more often and instruct the guys for find a tree.
