- Speedrunning is not something you would usually associate with Hypixel Skyblock , but one group of players were determined to compete for the fastest run by ANY means possible.

I recently got back in to the prospect of skyblock updating to 1.19 and the Rift. It’s fun playing for the game and not chasing meta and coins.

34:20 CORRECTION: Auto dungeons has not been released and to my knowledge, nothing like it exists elsewhere either.
My motivation for making it wasn't to have it do runs for me, it was just because 1) I thought it'd be cool and 2) It was the perfect project to learn more about programming concepts like graph theory, optimization, data collection etc. I didn't (and still don't) plan on releasing it. I don't like how bad of a situation cheating is in Skyblock (Which is why the most major cheat I've released so far is still just a map scanner) and it's sad to see how a lot of dungeons has just devolved into people using auto routes and various other macros for all of their runs.
Imo 2021 dungeons were the golden age, since the cheating situation wasn't that bad and runs were still (for the mostpart) mostly skill based. PB running on old f7 was super fun and I'm disappointed that we're never going to be able to experience that again due to the floor 7 boss being ruined with the release of M7.
It was fun seeing how fast Floor 7 could be completed as almost a TAS run, but when those mods start getting used for normal runs or even make their way into party finder, then that's what I've got a problem with.
why even say you dont like how cheating is in skyblock, yet release a cheat and actively work on them secretly.
@@kelp4119 I never said I didn't like that cheating existed. I think that the tech behind a lot of the cheats is really cool and I'd encourage people to make and use them in private so long as they don't actively harm the server or its players. My problem is when they become public and so widespread that a large portion of the playerbase uses it.
I was fine with releasing IllegalMap because all it does is give information to the player, not change the way they move or interact with the server.
@@kelp4119 Believe it or not, there are people that like programming.
I try to make cheats for most Mono compiled Unity Game I get my hands on, because it is very easy to modify the source code.
I don't actively use those cheats, but it is fun to figure out the inner workings of the games and how to bend them to your will.
Or just mess with friends in coop games.

I miss the old f7 and early dungeons, it was probably the most fun I'd ever had in my entire time playing skyblock

Oh man.. flying in f7... what a time. That was the most fun any of us had on skyblock, lets be honest. If they could just rework a few things in f7 like crystals to add back flight I'd literally cry tears of joy.

@@oogaooga0000 I agree, it felt so much more intuative and enjoyable than the buggy lava and incohesive parkour sequences. Bonzo staff makes it fun still, and adds more skill to it... but its so laggy and buggy it's just not very fluid.

I would love to see a follow up video on m7. While unfortunately the story goes much the same, the amount of stuff found and the insanity of some of the cheats that were developed for it would make it much more interesting to see. Especially since the m7 speed running community is still alive and wr attempts are made regularly. Great video

A myth for mythbusters series:
If you tranfer an enchanted or reforged silver fang to the rift (or two, one enchanted and one not. (they will stack in that chest then)), and then bring it/them back to the hub, they will stack again and lose enchants/reforges.

I don't play Hypixel but I burst out laughing @ 17:44 because it sounds like someone might have been doing a little trolling along with their hacking. You mentioned that a dungeon _mod_ was released called "Just Enough Dungeons" or _J.E.D._ that hacked player accounts... well, a few years earlier the Old School Runescape (OSRS) community had a _BIG_ drama with a moderator at developer Jagex, who was fired after getting caught stealing player accounts & gold inventories. His name - _Mod Jed._

a bit late to this comment but the guy that made J.E.D apparently regretted hacking so many accounts and tried to return all the stuff he got from the scam but he got wiped and banned so the stuff went away with him
While that's a fucking crazy story, it's unfortunately probably just a coincidence. In the modded minecraft community, there's been a trend regarding a specific subset of mods: Too Many Items, Not Enough Items, and Just Enough Items are all mods that allow you to access a list of items in the game, as well as view their recipes and usage. That trend continued to Not Enough Updates for skyblock, and it's more likely that Just Enough Dungeons was a simple continuation.
I’ve never completed a single mission in skyblock, but hearing people talk about niche things they dedicate their time to and explaining their expertise in this area is awesome!!
I am a new f7(post revamp) "speedrunner" and try to stay to full legit parties, the best time ive ever gotten on new f7 is 4:41, knowing how easily I could speed up clearing/phase 3 by having people cheat is very sad
also the current mid-run legit bloodskips are so unreliable so runs are normally locked at camp time

Good video! I liked the explanations of the different techniques with how they worked, how they improved times, and how certain records utilized them to bring the time down. I would've liked to see a bit more of who the people running are though. Even if not much is known about a group, just having some basic information to characterize them would've been nice, as I did get a bit lost trying to keep track of who is who. Also, the sections with the only improvements being better execution or luck did drag on sometimes, so I think a bit less time could have been spent on that. However, I really liked the cheating part at the end. Although, as you mentioned, it was a bit of a downer, it was the most engaging for me. The reveal was done well, and the explanations of how clients got ahead of each other was entertaining. Both the explanations of new cheats as they were developed, and the tactics like releasing competitors' cheats for free were interesting.
Why is this video so rewatchable like I've watched it like 6 times now
Man do i miss running old f7 it was by far the most fun I had in this game. All though new f7 opened up for some interesting new challenges and strategies which I have had alot of fun using and helping to develope some aswell. It really is a shame there isnt a way to verify runs on the new version of the floor besides word of mouth and screen shots of run times.

Hey, that's me in the video! Great video, it really takes me back to how so much happened in such a short time. Also, if anyone is curious what times would be like if the floor remained the same, the theoretical best time is likely a 1:52.68 (or in a range near there), with split times of:
Clear: ~20 seconds (the time at which we would bloodskip)
P1: 15.9 seconds
P2: 24.6 seconds
P3: 21.76 seconds
P4: 30.42 seconds
My guess is that the real world record would be a sub2:10 or maybe even a sub2 if the conditions were right. Its a shame that the floor was changed and we will never get to know how fast the times could have been but with the use of cheating and the constant chance of you and your team getting banned, it was inevitable that a stalemate like this would happen.
Just to mention, cheats did play a massive part in the times we got, there is no denying that, but I don't think I'd ever be able to say that cheats were the reason that one team beat another, consistency from our team is likely the reason that we were the least team to hold the world record before the floor was revamped.

IIRC Flying was first possible by equipping spirit boots, but if you took them off, you couldn't fly anymore. It was only afterwards when they patched that, where tarantula boots were used, where you could even take them off and fly

hello i would like to inform you about the fact that our perm's fastest f7 s+ clear was 36 seconds long :)
new layout just ruined speed potential because of unskippable cutscenes, it just became easier and slower
the 2.41 run with communityproject was also our perm's but like everyone there got boosting wiped sooner or later cause of the large dupe wave
also according to our calculations the fastest possible f7 run was in the range of 1.55-2.05 minutes s+ and it would've been doable with more time

Cheating actually made high level dungeons depressing to play. I really wanted to play the game legit but there was a time where not playing with cheaters was almost impossible as so few people were doing M7. Many cheaters would also expect legit players to start cheating just to make the average runs faster.

@@averagecbtenjoyer9095 different for different people i guess, I personally don't have an issue with people using qol cheats in mmorpg games like skyblock, as long as it doesn't affect anyone else. This sort of affects other people (the legitimate dungeon speedrun community, as they have to face sometimes unbeatable cheated runs) but not to an extent where it ruins the game for everyone (e.g. macros or dupes).

Explains the community of this game so well. They will do everything to not actually play, not enjoy a second, not be a human at all, not exist, not even in the same universe, while gaining stats in videogame without effort not deserving anything but getting banned and wiped and banned. Even most of the players that don't do that with literal hacks, but rather find a way to "play" the game ignoring every single playable aspect of it and just buying gear and afking money, in ways being arguable whether they are allowed or not.
Like what the hell is wrong with 99% of the community. If you tell this to any other gamer playing any other videogame they will not believe a thing you have said. Skyblock players are the equivalent of playing chess by opening a fridge.

As one who played back when cheats were in the more broken state aka 64 terminal aura and using them myself, it’s sad to see the state of the game even after 1 and a half years from my original ban. I never wanted to cause damage to the game and was more my way of re sparking joy in the only thing that brought me fun. I still feel bad about the one person who got collated by my wipe because they bought my wither chestplate 3 days before and that was what hurt the most out of everything as they did nothing and got punished way harder than I did. Never tried to hide cheating as I knew I deserved to be banned and out of all, the reactions of party finder was what was most fun about it, as seeing people finding enjoyment without having to cheat was good enough for me.

Speedrunning community died in f7 after revamp but not for any of the mm floors and m7 is still very much alive and more complex and skilled than f7 since there’s a whole extra phase and the enemies are more difficult

For a mode that is speedrunned as fast as vanilla it was shocking there is like only 5 people
Honestly, just make a SOLO varient of the dungeons, difficulty scaled to fit a better pace, and things will likely come back to life- just have to find good people willing to be the tough moderators as well
