I personally love the game. I get it some have never really liked the game for various reasons. I don't listen to reviews when it comes to games. I play what I play what I like.
This is a very well thought out video and you are very well spoken. Dig it. You bring up many great points. I disagree with you that most people look back on old Bioware as not as good. Knights of the Old Republic through Mass Effect 2 was the golden age. The only "good" Dragon Age was the first one (and its DLC). You have to understand its a sequel that's NOT made for old fans. Gameplay and tone is off. This game is a 6 out of 10 at best IMO. Has nothing to do with identity politics or whatever, its that its not what real fans wanted. Subscribing and gonna go dig through your back catalog.

Bought each and every one of the Dragon Age games on their release day, have exhausted every quest and scoured every codex entry, played every DLC, read every book, even watched and moderately enjoyed that in all honesty not so great movie about Cassandra, oh, and that corny youtube series with Felicia Day. I have rolled my eyes at the anti-lgbt controversy following *every* *single* *one* of these games. Is Veilguard my favorite entry in the series? No. Did I disagree with some narrative and esthetic choices? Sure. Do I still enjoy Dragon Age: The Veilguard? Absolutely.

@@Aksidia-of-Terra truth. Its not LGBT stuff that people hate, but how it's presented in this one and the overall tone, along with complete abandonment of classic RPG elements. It's like if someone changed the tone of a Robert E Howard Conan story to that of Critical Role D&D campaign, on top of the gameplay changes.
They didnt make the 1st obe with your wants in mind though. Games are here for us to play but they are not made specifically for us. Its just a product take your feeling out
It's not really controversial, it's just what it stands for and how it presents itself that is causing the problem. Ignoring the story, the combat is repetitive and boring where you are repeating the same content and the progression slowly becomes harder and harder to stay engaged in and so watered down. They are also targeting an audience of players who come from prior Dragon Age games. This was simply not what they wanted it to be. Had they made this game under a different IP and marketed towards it's intended audience it likely would have had better perception. The story however, makes me hate it. Every moment of the game feels like it is talking down to me, getting angry at me for not adhering to it's strange moral constructs. Meta critic is sold out garbage. you said you haven't tried it yet. I am curious to hear a follow up review after you have.
The combat it the previous dragon age games is worse though. Not saying veilguard sets a standard for action rpgs, but the past three with the goofy auto attack isnt engaging Also the story in veilguard is fine the plot and lore expansion is good. The dialouge of the newer characters specifically companions and rook not so much. Rook is Rook not my rook or your rook. Just rook I think the dialogue was done in 1 take thats how it sounds at least. 40-50 is a good price 6-8 7 for me Will not replay after i beat it Fun game nothing swear behind though
I tell you from the biggest honesty of my hart, life time fan of RPG games and Dragon age, this game is not worth your money. They seriously removed everything that made a bioware good out of the window and took away all free choices. They went into an action RPG to go for a moment casual combat that any and every person and their grandma can pick up. Though if the writing was at least a little competent and not written like a 12 years-old fantasy, then maybe, maybe it would have been a good game.
