Thanks for helping me choose my next robot vacuum. Ive owned an LG Hombot for 5 years, and it still works to this day (with some repairs). Since a week I've had the S5 Max and boy, this is from another world. It cleans fast, it's mops great(even my wife is impressed) and it's super smart. Couldn't be happier!

Roborock support themselves pointed me towards the S5, which has been working flawlessly on my carpet. If you have mostly carpet, get the S5, not the S4 (until they improve it to work on carpet).

They were somewhat a good value while they were Xiaomi products, but ever since Roborock went their own way or split off or whatever prices are out of whack.
So on the S6 They sacrificed suction power for battery life, even though it has “charge and return” after it’s charged? That makes no business sense to me. Can someone explain what they wanted to achieve here? All the others score better. First I thought it’s the new brush design.. but no
What do you think about the Xiaomi Mijia 1s? It is considerably less expensive than the Roborock models and, as far as I’m aware, more technically advanced? Also, it has been reported that the S4 struggles on thicker rugs compared with the other Roborock models. This would seem an important test as part of your reviews.
Hi, Thank you for detailed comparison, Do s6 pure have an option to auto select mop function when they move from carpet to wood floors ? Since I noticed this feature not available in many robots. Please clarify .
Would it be possible bro include a HEPA filter rating with these? I occasionally have to tiny very fine messes, such as diatomaceous earth, which I know can play havoc with lower grade filters.
I found a small difference in dust bin capacitys, and S6 pure and S5max have 460ml dust bin and not 640ml. At least from the official site. In my country in Europe you can find S5max in every shop, with a 480ml dust bin. What a mess.
I would love to see a video comparing the apps and google home/Alexa integration, at a certain price level most of the lidar bots seem decent enough and at that point what I really want to know is, can I just ask Alexa to "clean the kitchen" and it will be done?
I got the S5 and the S5 Max at home for testing last week and the one that won for me was the S5. The new spin brush from the S5 Max got tangle twice on 2 different pile size rugs and even ended up breaking one arm. Also another issue is that S5 Max could not vacuum one of my mid pile rug while the regular S5 was able to vacuum it with no issue. Even though S5 doesn’t have the better app and better map I decided to keep the S5 and return the Max to Amazon. Not to mention that I save like $120.00. Thanks for your reviews!
Did you install the latest update for the S5? If it's not available in your country yet from roborock on Mi Home you can istall it using flolevac app. It has room select and the differences are for now that you can't name the rooms and because of that you can't run the robot on customised voice control and can't make different time schedules.
Great channel. Thank you! I recently bought the Roomba S9+ with the Braava Jet M6. The S9 is working great. The Braava consistently says it is about to fall off a cliff. Turns out that the M6 does not support dark floors. The S9 anti fall sensors support dark floors. I’d like to ask that you include in your tests, dark floors test. Is that possible? Thanks.
Hi, great video! Have you planned to test the roborock S6 Pure? I'm considering to buy a roborock and have to decide which one to choose between the S5 Max and the S6 Pure (at the moment online they are both around 350 euros more or less). Your test of the s6 pure and your considerations about these products would help me a lot to make the right decision... Advices and opinions are well accepted :)
Is it worth to buy used working unit of S5 for 150$? New one in my country is around 340-370$ I have some random chaos cleaning franchisee company that I bought on sale for 50$ it has water tank and return to base if battery is low, it has auto carpet mode and can be programmed for days of the week and times but has no app and is chaotic sometimes cleans in spot it cleaned before from Amazon and we love concept of robot vacuum cleaners now. It's better than nothing my mom is so happy seeing it when she comes from work and seeing it vacuuming space.

Well explained, Thanks. Just a question... I have 2 floors - ground and first floor. How do I make use of this model S5Max? And what are multi-floor (level) cleaners? I heard S6 has that. Does it matter if I purchase S5 Max for cleaning both the floors as I wish to purchase this model after seeing your video?
Were you thinking about testing Viomi V2? According to "Smart Robot Reviews" it has crazy 23 cfm suction flow, and an interesting mopping technique. It would be nice too see it compared to S5 max.
Amazing videos, always. Thanks so much for all your work. I have some significant health problems that makes cleaning difficult. If one was looking for the best performance, would you guys say that I’d be better with the S5 Max or something like the S4 plus the Roomba M6 mopping robot? Are there any other combos that would beat something like this, performance-wise? I don’t have to purchase immediately if something else is coming out in the next couple of months. Thx in advance!
Hey vacuum wars, because of the height my closets i need a robot with a height of 3.3inches or less. Unfortunately all of the roborocks are too tall. Any suggestion for a semi smart robot vacuum that would fit my needs? Mopping function not required.
Thank you for your video. I am about to return my S4 because I feel like it struggles to go over wires and rugs that are about .4 .8 mm. I am now looking at purchasing the S5 MAX, do you think this will resolve the issues that I am having with the rugs and wires?
Hello. Thank you for your UA-cam videos. Does the Roborock S5 have the ability to have “no mop zones” (like the S5 MAX)? I have wood floors with area rugs. I want to mop the wood floor and not have to disconnect the mop attachment when it gets to the rugs.
Smart Robot Reviews I’m pretty sure the S4 has the larger dustbin. Or that was one of the selling points in early reviews of the S4 compared to the S5 and S6 iirc. I find the recharge and go feature not needed in my house. But with a chocolate lab (sheds a lot!), the missing feature on all these robovacs is a dustbin sensor to alert when the bin is full. I find my S4 continues to clean (or try to) even when the bin is full. So it leaves debris behind that it would otherwise clean up. I also have a Roomba i7+ that will return to base when the dustbin is full, empty itself, and return to complete the job. I find that to be the most useful feature of a robovac in general for living spaces that tend to accumulate more debris than the small dustbins can hold.
@@speedlever I also thought it is bigger (at least it looks bigger). But I filled the S4 dustbin with water and it was able to hold ~420 ml (Roborock claims the same size for the S4: en.roborock.com/pages/robot-vacuum-cleaner-compare ). I already recorded a video comparison, will publish it within a few days.
If I already have a iRobot Braava 380t - will the mob feature of any of the Roborocks be an upgrade? or would I be best served just getting an S5 (cheapest here in DK - the S4 is not readily available) and using my Braava for mopping?
Hi! Great channel. Would you consider doing threshold testing? Particularly on the Roborocks. I’m moving into a new bigger apartment and am excited to get a robot vacuum. Though the apartment is old and thresholds are high, probably 2-3 cm (~1.2 inches). If you’re not planning a video on the subject. Do you have any suggestions?
PiotrWarsaw yeah ive been looking around for info and nowhere does it mention the dust bin to be bigger, just different shape... 460ml instead of 480 on the S5
I just replaced my Neato D4 with a S4. Only reason I did it was the D4 had a lidar/probally board failure, not any real complaints about the D4. I'm pretty surprised how much better the S4 is at navigation. I have a old Victorian house, so doors little rooms, just oddities that make navigation odd. Even with no go lines the Neato would always get stuck atleast once a vac. Which I put on my house not the bot. But that S4 is rock solid never gets stuck and mostly does as well at navigation as could be expected. Pretty impressive the differences Ive seen considering on paper they appear mostly the same level.
No one would've bothered tweaking hours on the dock. The easier way to do what you want now is to simply watch how long your bot's going to work in your place, then schedule the cleaning at around those off-peak hours.
Any experience with the proscenic my pro? I don't know of any difference besides the larger battery capacity and a dual brush arm. The m7 seems to be more attractive because it have a much larger mopping tank.
Now that everyone is working and schooling at home, I need to find a quiet Robot vacuum. How does the S5 MAX ( which appears to be the best Overall Robot vacuum in this line ) compare to other Mid-Range Robot Vacuums ( whether it be a Roborock or other Robot vacuum brands ) when it comes to noise level?
I have the roborock S5 and a Shark 720. I'm not really sure how loud they are on paper but the roborock is a lot louder than the Shark. I think it's worth it though because of all the cool features.

Can you please do a review on the Xiaomi Mijia 1S? Im buying one because the price is $20 since the korona virus.
So on the S6 They sacrificed suction power for battery life, even though it has “charge and return” after it’s charged? That makes no business sense to me. Can someone explain what they wanted to achieve here? All the others score better. First I thought it’s the new brush design.. but no
Thank you so much for your thorough reviews and work behind the reviews!
Hi, Thank you for detailed comparison,
Do s6 pure have an option to auto select mop function when they move from carpet to wood floors ? Since I noticed this feature not available in many robots. Please clarify .
Take a look a the Roborock S7 review. ua-cam.com/video/-O7K4oerR4E/v-deo.html That may be the one with the feature you are looking for.
Have you done a particulate air quality test w these vacs?
Is this still Your pick? I am looking to buy either s6, s6 plus or s5 max.
Damn. So I made a bad choice of buying a S6 in stead of S5 max, even when their price difference were only about 20 bucks.
have both s6 and 5max, and i prefer the 6
@@andreatamborini for me it performs a bit better in the sensor department and it seem a bit gentler on the surfaces
The only advantage TODAY of the S6 vs. the S5 Max is the multi-floor support. Greatly awaited for the S5 Max I have got.
How many years do they last?? Since its very expensive in my country
There is no Alexa integration in the UK. Disappointing.
Thanks.
Hi, how is the s5 Max handle obstacles? Same as S6 or not as good? Thank you.
Which color is recommended in term of looks, and cleaner appearance after vacuuming? White or Black? I plan to buy S5 Max soon. Thanks
White.
Can you do a review of the S6 Pure?
Thanks for the well prepared comparison :D
What about the Xiaomi Viomi V2 PRO, Is it a newer version or old one? Can you tell us something about this one?
Is it worth to buy used working unit of S5 for 150$? New one in my country is around 340-370$ I have some random chaos cleaning franchisee company that I bought on sale for 50$ it has water tank and return to base if battery is low, it has auto carpet mode and can be programmed for days of the week and times but has no app and is chaotic sometimes cleans in spot it cleaned before from Amazon and we love concept of robot vacuum cleaners now. It's better than nothing my mom is so happy seeing it when she comes from work and seeing it vacuuming space.
S5 have now room selection :D
Yup. I have mine updated also. Works very well.
Which version is that?
Mine reads “firmware up todate version 3.3.9”
@@XellosMetallium 3.5.7_002008
@@XellosMetallium 3.5.7_002008 version is available on FloleVac application. Just install that application login and make firmware update. Then continue using MiHome, you can delete FloleVac after updating firmware. Most people don't get update via MiHome, like me. I had to make it manually like this.
Mehmet Fatih Özçelik this only works for Android apparently. Very annoying for me with a stupid iPhone lol
Thanks for the reviews, subscribed for sure. Best on UA-cam hands down.
Wow, thanks!
According to roborock Australian website the s6 pure bin is 460 as well and not 640. Typo or they announced it like this?
Well explained, Thanks. Just a question... I have 2 floors - ground and first floor. How do I make use of this model S5Max? And what are multi-floor (level) cleaners? I heard S6 has that. Does it matter if I purchase S5 Max for cleaning both the floors as I wish to purchase this model after seeing your video?
Were you thinking about testing Viomi V2? According to "Smart Robot Reviews" it has crazy 23 cfm suction flow, and an interesting mopping technique. It would be nice too see it compared to S5 max.
I really wish I had one of these, my upright vacuum at home sucks (pun not intended)
Have you looked at the 360 brand. It looks just like roborock/xiaomi but much cheaper
I have not - but thanks for the tip.
I am now looking at purchasing the S5 MAX, do you think this will resolve the issues that I am having with the rugs and wires?
did it work better for you?
Hello. Thank you for your UA-cam videos. Does the Roborock S5 have the ability to have “no mop zones” (like the S5 MAX)? I have wood floors with area rugs. I want to mop the wood floor and not have to disconnect the mop attachment when it gets to the rugs.
Give that the S5 Max is electrical with the mopping feature, is it possible to add some soap to the water or cleaning liquid?
The S5 max has a 460ml dust bin, I think?
You are right, the S4 also has a smaller dustbin (420 ml)
Smart Robot Reviews
I’m pretty sure the S4 has the larger dustbin.
Any hints on what the S6 Pure will " have/not have/add/remove " as far as features. What customer type is the S6Pure geared for?
0:32 maybe it has dirt decent.
As far as I understand, it has fewer sensors, louder than the regular S6, and equipped with bigger dustbins
Thx for the informative videos, but very big and sloppy mistake about the bin size of the S5 Max. Especially since you already reviewed it before.
If I already have a iRobot Braava 380t - will the mob feature of any of the Roborocks be an upgrade? or would I be best served just getting an S5 (cheapest here in DK - the S4 is not readily available) and using my Braava for mopping?
Hi ! test the makita vacuum please :)
I have an S5 and I love it. It does throw up laser issues quit often though which is worrying as its only a few months old.
does anyone know a good website in UK to buy s5 or s5max?
I just bought S5 Max, and as far as i know, dust bin size is smaller than in s5 and s6...
PiotrWarsaw yeah ive been looking around for info and nowhere does it mention the dust bin to be bigger, just different shape... 460ml instead of 480 on the S5
@@XilenceSR indeed. And not 640ml vs 480 ml for sure.
There is a comparison chart on the official website
THIS is how you make a review.
Can you please do a review on a robo Rock e4 series that came out 2020 of April.
Thanks for the video. Is it possible to schedule the charging, to take advantage of off-peak electricity tariffs?
I guess, scheduling the vacuum so that it finishes cleaning and returns to the dock in time to charge during off peak.
No one would've bothered tweaking hours on the dock. The easier way to do what you want now is to simply watch how long your bot's going to work in your place, then schedule the cleaning at around those off-peak hours.
Hello There, What about test for Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Pro ? when will u doo this one?
So which one do you pick in term of feature and capbility if you have to choose between s5 max or deebot 950?
@@ivana4942 Thanks. The S5 MAX was on sale on Amazon Prime Day, so I decided to get it. I liked that it has both a mop and vacuum option. Hopefully it won't be that loud and I can run it downstairs and upstairs on the carpet from time to time and not bother anyone.
