    I love my ARC! Works perfect for me at work. Especially with the bit driver. I use nearly all the bits at work on different machines. Having all the tools on the outside is what I prefer since I don't like opening and then closing the tool again just to get at the internal tools. Plus when using the pliers it's more comfortable to me with external tools. One thing I don't like is when I use the crimper on the pliers it seems to like to blind my pliers up. Otherwise I love every bit for what I want and need! I always liked the idea of the Free P2/P4 however it lacked so much of what I wanted. The ARC fixes every issue I had with those ones!

    10:07 the difference in packaging is because the box with the plastic front is for an in store display, the other is for shipping direct to consumer; its a little cheaper/more efficient to ship, and easier to recycle, but sacrifices being able to see the tool.

    The regular Charge+ is a Wave with the hook cutter and 154cm instead of 420HC on the main blade.
    And the Charge+ TTi is a Charge but with an S30V blade and Titanium scales.

  • @michaelkaliski7651

    It has a 25 year guarantee, so there are no issues that can’t be sorted. The only issue is that the tools will bite like a puppy if you mess around trying to balisong the thing without watching your finger placement. Not for amateurs but a decent tool with useful features. The blacked out blade and less aggressive profile make the tool look a bit less threatening to non multitool owners. Of course it is worth the money with the knife blade alone being worth $100 over the price of a standard Leatherman blade.

    I like the arc it's a good tool but apart from the price 3 things bug me about it, the sheath feels like it's to tall for the tool more like it's for the surge, the new style hard wire cutters are terrible (I swapped mine out for old ones, just so I can say my arc can cut a coat hanger lol) and lastly the bit kit missing the t6 t8 bit. They are cheap fixes but really shouldn't be an issue to begin with given the price tag of it

    • @gtrul3s387
      @gtrul3s387 7 місяців тому

      At least it’s three easy fixes! I kinda like the sheath personally, it holds the tool deeper, which means less chances to lose it if the snap opens. Changed the wire cutter for an older pair of black ones(looks even better imo!) and already had two bit kits😅 overall i’m really enjoying it!

      @LeftyEDC  7 місяців тому

      Sorry someone grabbed it already or i would have for sure.

    • @Lord_zeel
      @Lord_zeel 5 місяців тому

      The sheath is too big, and you are right about it being Surge sized. That's because it is - it's just the "Nylon Sheath w/Pockets" in Large that has been available for a long time (I've got one for my Signal that I keep in the car). It comes in Medium too, but the Arc won't fit Medium because it's too long so instead of making a new sheath, they just used the Large one they already had, but in a different color for some reason. That being said, it does need some of that extra length in the flap if you do put two bit kits into the thing - not as much room as it has with the Arc, but more than you might think.
      As for the bits that come with it, do you happen to have one of the normal bit kits? The set that comes with the Arc isn't "missing" the T6/T8 bit as so many people claim, the set it comes with doesn't match either half of the bit kit at all. The Arc set is a totally different combination, including some bits from both halves of the standard kit. Also, and I know not everyone will agree with this, it's also not missing a bit at all... it comes with 10, one of them is just the PH/Flat that comes pre-installed. The bit holder has an empty slot for it, so that you don't need to play musical bits if you swap others in and out frequently, each bit can have its own designated home in the holder including the "normal" one. I know it's tempting to say they're cheeping out here, but I honestly think they made the right call on that.
      As for the cutters... well my Wave+ has the same rounded ones and I got that nearly a year ago, so we can't really ding the Arc for having the same cutters that everything else comes with now.

  • @Lord_zeel
    @Lord_zeel 5 місяців тому

    Is it over priced? Yes. Am I okay with the fact that I spent that much money on it? Also yes. I don't think it's so crazy a price as to be beyond reason, but while I was willing to fork over the money myself to get what is to me a nearly perfect multitool, I think from a pure value perspective comparing what you can get for the same money... yeah the Arc isn't really a good value. Considering that the Wave+ is, as far as the tools go, basically the same thing at half the price and there are Wave+ knockoffs for even less that are by all accounts just as good as the Wave if not better the price is really hard to justify. However, it doesn't take more than a few minutes using the thing to make the Wave feel completely outdated. And while the Wave can pretty much do anything the Arc can do, don't forget that Magnacut knives are typically pretty expensive too (I wish Leatherman offered a cheaper non-Magnacut option!), and if you're like me and like to fidget with stuff... well there are some embarrassingly expensive fidget toys out there that don't even do anything useful, but like them the Arc is a lot of fun to just mindlessly flip around and stuff. Magnets just make everything feel so much cooler. Still, it just depends so heavily on what is important to a given potential buyer. A product like this almost defies being reviewed, it's almost a pass/fail sort of thing - either it is everything it says it is, and you can decide if that's worth the money to you, or it's not and it's a scam and nobody should buy it. The Arc isn't a scam, but it is more expensive than it needs to be. If that's over priced for you... is up to you.

    The charge is posed as a premium model of the Leatherman wave, hence the limited differences in the toolset. What I can remember is: the outside tools on the charge have a bushing on either side of them, as opposed to the wave which has just one, the gut hook, as you pointed out, and in some models the crimpers in the plier heads as well as the base, it is generally slightly lighter than the wave, and leatherman also describes the scales as premium, which I think for comfort is a reasonable point. Also leatherman uses 420HC as their standard blade steel, 440, I think is the rest of the body.

    Technically couldn't you flip the blade over to the other side? Unless the thumb stud is red loctited, otherwise I do not see why not.

    its hard to say its overpriced. its rather bad and dont worth to be bought.
    - cutters are bad, you need to buy good ones, if you can be sure the seller offer the good ones!
    -the diamond file can not sharpen the magnacut blade! that only and i would not buy this tool.
    -lets mention that the file and the saw could be swapable on the same (t-shank) slot.
    its a very pretty tool, for many this would be enough to buy it.

    Whatever way you look at it,it's well overpriced! It will never be a wave replacement? Leatherman say ' you cant beat the wave' how true and its the best they can do! Everything since has been a let down!

    No Leatherman should be over $125 IMO. Maybe a tiny bit more for some of the better steels. $250 is laughable though. The only ones to pay that price are fanatics.

      Clearly you don't understand what happens when stuff is made in the US with US labor. I mean I think people are still not adjusting to the fact that EVERYTHING is more expensive. I was floored when I went to go price out a car battery this year. $250 is a little high. But for an actual good heat treated Magnacut blade. $200 is good. You're basically getting a lot of tool for that.
