Love the van. Generally okay with porta potti instead of dedicated enclosed area...just do not like idea of having it out in the main area. In wilderness situations, I would set up a one of those pop-up shower tents outside and make that the potty room.
That's a good idea except if you're with someone else and have to go in the middle of the night, opening and closing the sliding door is very loud and will most likely wake them up.
Great van. I really like the attention to deal and little things that all add up to make a big difference, like the sliding storage doors, the final check list under the windshield visor, the neutral colors that allow you to decorate as you wish, or not at all. It shows the people at Field Van have good taste and give a lot of thought to what they do.
We agree!
As a class B owner for over 3 decades, I'd be interested in this type of pop-up van. I'd think with gas prices getting high again the reduced height when the van is compressed would give much better gas mileage than my Travato. My only concern is staying warm in the colder climates.
Shouldn't have any problems staying warm with the furnace. Plus you can leave the pop top down and sleep on the downstairs bed. We took our pop top to -12 and it wasn't nearly as well insulated.
Very much enjoyed this video. Those views from up top were beautiful & peaceful. Cow neighbors were fun to see, even thinking to bring pies to welcome you! 😂 The unit itself seemed to have everything you needed. Can't wait for more of these samplings. ✌️🤗
Glad you enjoyed it and yes, more to come!
Loved the cows! The sliding cupboard doors and the different layout are pluses.
Glad you like them!
Great little camper. Looks well thought out.
We agree!
poor Joe what a trooper instant coffee, love the van. looks like it has everything needed. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
What a great idea on the lettuce sausage for breakfast! I love Romaine!🥬
It's so good!
I really enjoy this type of informative video. So glad you are making more of these again!
I'm so glad!
Beautiful location. Nice van. Nice views. But.. instant coffee....euwwww!!
Love it!! Reminds me of the old VW camper vans, my dream camper.penthouse is the best.
That it is!
Whaaat? Do you eat the fuzzy kiwi skin? I scoop mine out with a spoon.😁
Great build for sure lots of space
I think so too!
Washes hands to cook….next move…moves toilet😂😂😂
Great review. Thanks!
I like this setup. Also love seeing our girl more in the video.
Enjoyed very much. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice van tour! Although it would probably be tough to get your hands on one since they are backed up worse than Storyteller Mode LT was, I would really like to see you evaluate the AEON rv. Contact Jim Ritchie at their website.
My favorite part is Kate being so excited about cows 🐄
Lol - you should see her around wild animals!
This looks exactly like a Sportsmobile. There are major advantages to a pop-top for sure... lower COG for stability, lower height for garage parking, less drag for better MPGs, etc. but I'm terrified of leaks so I doubt I'd ever own one. This is a pretty sweet van tho.
Field Van is owned by the same family who had Sportsmobile West. Two years ago, they decided to break off and have their own brand but are still operating out of the same facility.
@@Weretherussos Well that explains that lol
Need my separate potty room!
So the low roof van with a pop too nice
I survive off instant coffee! The best, oh and totally frigging awesome van! A Mod van meets Pleasure Way Tofino. I want one!
I use instant to survive 😉
I'd like to see you two do something similar in the Pleasure-Way Tofino.
Thanks for the suggestion!
It would be interesting if you could try an Wingham Oasis 540.1
We’ve done a walk through but who knows when they’ll be available in the States. ua-cam.com/video/8O-IODLU5pc/v-deo.htmlsi=DYkmsqy1HEks6KWG
We would like to see you test the Winnebago Pocket.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Amazing spot, great video! I am looking into building one on the same platform, how does it handle? Is that the l2?
I've never seen anyone munch a kiwi like an apple.
Only way to go...so much flavor in the skin
My hubby does that too, I just can't!
Their vans are so cool. Maybe some day they make it to Europe 😊nice Video......"l almost lost my wxxxxy"😂😂😂😂great
They're a small shop so unless you ordered it from Europe, they wouldn't be sending them there.
Love the long hair. (You know who you are.)
Also: Cows good...cow patties bad.
See you next video.
Have you looked at “Van Do” in Kansas City or “wayfarer vans” in Colorado Springs?
VanDoIt is likely the top interior configurable van in the market. Kait likes her storage compartments so thought was just a matter of time to see a VanDoIt van on their channel. Ford Motor Company has assembly plant not far from this company too
@@lrobie123 I live in SW Missouri so you’d think I’d get the name correct! 😂 Those two builds seem more attainable on my schoolteacher pension. 🚴
Yes we’ve looked at them and been to the VanDoIt factory. Great people and we’ll see what we can wrangle up
Instant coffee is not bad! It’s terrible!
Eh it will get you through the day...
12:16 The view! I am speechless! And I do talk a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!🤫🤐
Hilarious....but yes, it was incredible.
Loved the van, simple, but everything you need. What are your thoughts on using the Trelino composting toilet or the OGO composting toilet, verses the porta-potti type, what would you say are the pros and cons of each, Trelino, OGO and porta-potti type.
Too much to cover in a response but we’ve written all about them here: weretherussos.com/?s=Toilet
Love your channel but did I really see Joe eat take a bite out of a kiwi with fuzz still on? :D
Of course! Best way to eat one
It's a nice California built van. It's interesting to note the regional differences in builds.
How does the build account for the fact that all the weight is on one side (cabinets, sink, etc.). Does it affect tires? Handling? Sway?
I don’t know but it’s not noticed at all when driving
I want
There is a roof rack on the pop-up. Do you know if you would have to remove everything on the rack before opening the pop-up.
No you wouldn’t.
Since you guys are into motorcycles, have you thought about renting a motorcycle popup trailer?
No - not something I’m interested in towing. I think it would take a lot of the enjoyment of riding away for me.
Why could you not shower or empty water on the camp spot? Never heard of this rule anywhere!
Regulations for the land we were on. We also had to have permits to camp there as this was not public land.
Hi guys, great video. Have you considered doing some travel trailer reviews? Would be interested to hear your thoughts on travel trailers, in particular the sub 7000# travel trailers.
We’ve done quite a few! Another one will be released on 9/29 but for now here is the whole playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLpqJFyT0tg-Ihrg1fGwuyfUObLxNdNhW6.html&si=ZiciigIDm6CJBvPS
A few observations -- It looks more like a van for short term camping, as opposed to one you'd want to travel in for weeks at a time. Doesn't look comfortable and with too many inconveniences, like needing acrobatic skills to access some things in the penthouse. I'd rather have 18-21 mpg (what we typically get in our Sprinter) than 4WD. And when emptying the toilet, did I see liquids sloshing about in the opening? No cap? (Eew.) Finally, an indoor shower that drains into a gray tank, is not something I'd consider giving up. ...... Nope, sorry. Didn't love the van. But you two are great.
Thanks - I would disagree regarding the comfort part. We find their builds very comfortable and the acrobatics can be negated by setting up the ladder. That said, from a personal perspective I wouldn't get another van with a fixed bathroom because of the space it uses up but that's a very personal thing. For the pottie - it's sealed. The liquid you saw was just some water we used to rinse that was still sitting on top of the blade valve into the holding tank.
I have also seen a video of this layout in a mid roof van with out the poptop, the van had upper cabinets on both sides, instead of the poptop, so you gain additional storage, and the inside still seemed very roomy
That man just bit straight into a kiwi..
Best way to do it
Fresh milk for your cereal.
Here is my request guys: Test the Embassy RV, Mercedes or Ford Transit campervans, under 20 feet! The model is “Dolphin S.”
Thanks for the suggestion!
@@WeretherussosThe model is “Dolphin S” by Embassy RV.
love the video have you thought about getting a pop up van like this it would be great :) stay safe and blessed mom would love it :)
We have thought about getting a pop-up - we loved out pop up truck camper
Where there are cows, there are cow pies…🤣
Shit happens...
@@Weretherussos In a pinch (lol), they could also double as leveling pads...
🥱😴😴
🐄
You say Ne-VAH-duh, I say Ne-VAD-uh. According to Nevadans, the latter is correct! Ne-VAH-duh is incorrect!
No way jeff Bezos is living in a Camper van😮
#amazonvanlife
scoot the toilet out of the way to eat…
Hi, thank you for your video, since you asked, I would like to see a full walk thru of the "Ultra" model of Titanvans. Please make sure you do the model with stowaway bench seat. Best!
Thanks for the suggestion - we’ll look into them
Check out the new NuCamp Cirrus 920 truck camper. Just saw it at the Hershey RV show and it's a beast! 🎉
We've seen it but will have to see if we can get access to it on a truck so we can actually use it.
Did he just bite into that kiwi??
You do a great job of illustrating pros and cons of different vehicles. I love my custom Promaster van and don’t bother much with gear reviews but you guys do a through and enjoyable job of educating me. I also love how van life elevates buying food to the business of provisioning as though off to join Magellan.
Glad you like them!
I'd like to see a review of that Ford van in the garage.
Me too !!!!!!!!!!!
We've done it...you can find them in this playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLpqJFyT0tg-L_wmFiDU2IJ5wmLtVkgsrF.html
Thank you very nice us 81 year olds just don't get it when it comes to computers .@@Weretherussos
Why did he not peal the poor Kiwi
The skin is the best part
Coming from camping when I was young in a VW pop up ! This was the best one yet. I'm surprised! Maybe cuz of 4 wheel drive ? I get almost 21 in a 170 extended diesal.
😊Grand Design Imagine AIM 16ML travel trailer
If you have to go instant coffee - you’ve got to give a review of instant coffees. Sounds like a great video idea!
A weekend in a vintage Westfalia would be fun!
Would love to see you guys try a Vistabule teardrop.
Wait! You don't peel kiwi? 😮 I didn't know you could eat them like that!
Nope! If they’re hairy, just rub some off with your hands but otherwise bite right in
Earthroamer?
If they’d give us one to take out…
@@Weretherussosthe Hilt looks quite amazing! Hoping for a weekend review of that rig. 🤞
Actually, I looked at Field Van's website after your prior video. The thing that wouldn't work for us would be the pop top; the wife has two artificial knees and getting up and down wouldn't work well, and sleeping separate would drive our dog nuts. Some of their other vans look rather interesting.
I'd love to get your review of a Trailmanor trailer, it's one of the "possibilities" on our short list; also an Escape Industries trailer and a Casita and maybe a few other fiberglass type trailers.
The high roof vans would work and you can get them custom built. Also check out the Oliver: ua-cam.com/video/gDJlwSubTyI/v-deo.htmlsi=N_WEkKflHw0DJFEF
Damn I read the title and I thought you both were going to spend a continuous 72 hours in the van 🤣. I was like "That's a genius testing method! Trial by fire!" I'm sure you'd learn a lot about how things are laid out if you decided to do that.
Well we say you don't live in a van - you live out of a van. I think we'd be at each other's necks by the end of 72 hrs!
What a beautiful build on the van!
You guys look great! Super strong and healthy! #vanlife xo
Thank you!!
Not a fan of PopTops but this unit was a winner! Love the Mercedes and this one is just the right length. Thanks!
Glad you like it!
Glad there wasn't a big bull in the herd to challenge the S1 Van. Probably would have caused quite a dent!
There was but he seemed indifferent.
Great video you guys , awesome van, thanks for sharing this video.
Our pleasure!
Wow, your hair sure grows up fast Kait! How long ago since you were bald? 2 yrs??
She started growing it back in 2019
The camping spot seemed really nice. The camper van didn’t seem too bad either. You guys going to Overland Expo East? If so, we hope to see you there again this year.
Unfortunately we won’t be there - we’ll be at the Chattanooga Adventure van expo which is the same weekend
@@Weretherussos Sorry we won’t get to see you guys. Have fun at the van expo. Christine says “aww”.
Nice van ,love the storage. Cons for me are no indoor shower or AC. I’m EC based so that AC in muggy heat is a lifesaver.
You can get them with AC
@@WeretherussosJoe do you know how the AC works in those vans? I would assume the unit would be cut into the pop top roof but how would it work if the bed is pushed up and secured to the roof for when you aren’t sleeping? Wouldn’t it block the AC?
Great review of the van.
Thanks! 👍
Pyramid Lake?
Bingo!
But where?? I am extremely interested
Great videos of the Field Van S1, love that layout. How does it do in cold weather (obviously not an issue while filming these videos), but from what you both have heard from other Sportmobile/Field Van owners? Thanks.
Very well - they have owners who take them into the snow
You should have fished for some Lahontan Cutthroat while you were at that secret spot 😅
Ahhhh I see you recognize the spot!
