Thanks so much, Lewis. I watched this video when I had the HLA 85 but that wasn't the problem. I have the HLA 86 now and remembered this video when my machine went down. Worked like a charm. You're a life saver!!!
No probs, had another one yesterday for you..bit of corrosion on connection on top of motor gave the the 3 red lights. That head closed safety switch is an easy fix and I'm glad it helped 👍
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd yup just had to work out that it needed to be in the closed position to flick out the switch from the housing. Bit shocked by the filth in there lol. Thanks again much appreciated!
Cheers for the vid! thought the machine had got wet inside so was drying out the contacts without luck. tried this, cleared out the crap in switch and viola!
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd Happened end of the day yesterday so gonna investigate it today. Hopefully it is the switch. I am working it everyday unless we are lawn cutting👌.
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd I have not really thought about it. I wonder if you sent it somewhere for a service if they would change the parts or replace the complete head apart from the blades
I wouldn't like to say if they'd just clean it out and say sorted for small fee or change it out and make more of it than actually was. A few people have commented on some vids that's theirs just stopped working so thought this might be handy as it's a 5 min check. Motor is £120 ish I think and new machine is around £270 so after a solid years use I'd be happy to change if this didn't fix it
Blades stuck gives you the 3 red lights on battery and possibly the battery terminal connection. This tho just wouldn't run and I'd heard about this switch so had nothing to loose by have a look and a wiggle of wires and bits👍
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd okay thanks for info .. and yes I do love mine and am generally pleased with it … the extra length is also an advantage over the old petrols .. ps .. Ive got a lovely aching shoulder now aswell .. 🥲
Thanks good tip but that wasnt my problem. These die after 6 months of commercial use. I hate going back to my stihl gasser but i can keep them easily going for 5 years with no problems. Electronic diagnostics are alien to me.
They definitely don't last as long as petrol and don't like the heavy stuff, I'd be looking at a different manufacturers if only got 6 months out of one. I use mine daily one lasted 12 months and I've had one going for 18 months now and a couple are being used for best. They pay for themselves in a week in autumn with all the trims we do so I'm happy with 12 months use as they are so light etc. Thanks for watching 👍
Yours does look a bit battered and well used … mine went dead the other day after lots of hours trouble free .. it was still under warranty and they said I’d greased the terminals ( which I certainly hadn’t ) I think that was to charge me a small fee which they did afterwards ( ankers ) .. now all is well for the time being .. not sure what the life span is for one of these in the commercial world 🌎
Glad yours got sorted, you must have proper greased it 🤔😬 I generally get a year out of them and for around £270 I'll take that. It paid for itself over a few long days on the conifer trims the end of last year. Not disposal by any means but I'll still choose them over petrol if possible and even abuse them slightly to save adding to my aches and pains😅

Glad it helped 👍
Thank you! Fixed in minutes after an afternoon of head scratching. Much appreciated.
Hey no probs, glad you're back up and running 👍
Brilliant thank you so much!
Problem solved?
Fantastic video - saved me an expensive and time consuming trip to the repair shop
Glad it was some help 👍👍
Thankyou so much this litterally saved me loads of time and effort 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for this. Saved the vid and 3wks later came in very useful!👍
Did you fix one with the same issue? Simple right!

Glad it helps, be prepared to add this to the list of maintenance jobs or if nobody else using it permanently close the switch 👍
Thanks for sharing Nathan✌️
Cheers 👍 might come in handy for you
They would be getting soldered together 🤣, good lil fix and find mate, you'll be a qualified sparky in no time 👍
I'd have all that stuck together if no one except me was going to pick it up or use it🤔
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd Oh yeh forgot about that, maybe not then 🤣

Happened mine today✌️
No way, you've not had it that long. Did it get going?

I do use the stihl cleaning spray on the blades or WD … obviously that wouldn’t prevent what’s going on here 😕

There's a waiting list? Hope I don't need to replace mine, I'd be lost without it😬

A zip tie will sort that👌

Please explain!
I heard, heat jelly, not HLA…🤦🏻♂️

Easy fix don’t buy battery
That'll sort it😅
