    Thank you Mr. Neeves! Really enjoyed the review and glad you approve! Thank you for all the kind words about the knife inlays and leather work as well! Very excited to get you a new wallet and see what you think!
    I have to address your negatives/knit picks about the DeVille!
    -The front flipper was designed to be as small as possible while still functioning great. I'm very happy with it! I do see and understand your thinking on it, but again just didn't want the standard shark fin you see on A LOT of knives!
    -The plunge has been pointed out to Bestech and they said they will do the best they can with pushing it back, bringing it behind the end of grind.
    -The lock rock is new to me as I thought they were ALL very solid with no play, and the one I have in hand now does not have any that I can feel. Like you pointed out, the protos do vary a bit and I'd hope Bestech can get into a good rhythm when in production!
    Thank you again, sir!
    -Justin

      I have no doubt they will have the lockup perfect, tbh the amount they had would probably go away just pushing it through some cardboard. Lockbars break in nicely in many cases after pressure is applied to the edge allowing Lockhart to sink in place

    Great review! I know Justin has pushed Bestech on that plunge grind really hard, and at least on the protos, they insisted that was the best they could do on a hollow grind. I've never understood this argument, but I've heard it many times from OEMs. But from talking with Israel @ Arcane this last weekend, I learned Bestech just got themselves a new type of bevel grinder that finally lets them do proper plunges on hollows, so hopefully they're doing them right on the production batch!

    This is a beautiful knife! I definitely do agree with you on the plunge grind. Going to smile literally the first time you sharpen it. Hopefully they fix that for the final production version. I wish the front flapper was a little taller too. I’m one of those people that likes the Higonokami style front flipper that sticks straight up at least a quarter inch past the end of the scales. I don’t need it to be like that, but a little taller would be nice. Otherwise, this thing looks like a complete banger!

    Absolutely amazing knife! The blade is a bit too clever-like for me. If it had more of a point, I'd be on it. That fuller is a thing of beauty! And i really dig the bolster / scale esthetic.

    Hey Jared I have issue when sharpening and hoping you can help. I find it difficult to find a good position for the stone in terms of doing opposing sides, I've tried keeping it in one position and moving it to do the opposite side with mixed results for both especially when doing alternating passes to remove the burr. Any tips?

    9:30 i know you find issues with the stop pin plung grinds . i have two preferences l, i like a finger choil and that creates gratuitous room for sharpening but my overall preference is zero choil…. yes its difficult to avoid rounding your stones but not impossible to work around that…. the reason i prefer zero choil is because it snags on things. how it cuts is a bigger issue to me than the difficulty of maintenance and if it’s snagging on materials then obviously it could be better.

    Plunge into the sharpened edge is now a hard stop on knives with me. I don’t want to have to make my own sharpening choil even if the stop pin isn’t an issue.

    You show the knife and they go up on the pre- order price by 65.00 on dama, 21.00 on micarta, 25.00 on blue carbon, 20.00 on the gold matter that seems bad to me. Go look at the site!!!!

    • @highgraindesigns
      @highgraindesigns 2 місяці тому +3

      You're totally right! Neeves must have taken those screenshots a couple weeks ago. The pre order price was lower when it first went live, but they have been in production now for 3 months and are due here mid September. So not much longer! HOWEVER, I did setup Neeves with a 5 percent off link(link below) to bring the prices basically down to what they were for the pre order(as seen in video). I do plan to raise prices again to 330, 360, 380, and 600 for the drops. Thanks for pointing that out!

You can’t really say anything except that’s exactly how we would love all knife designers and companies to respond ( yeah I know if only ) personally i would definitely whip one up no problem if it wasn’t such a hassle to get knives from the US over and past our inbred Border Forces that don’t even know what they are doing or the law on knives properly saying that neither do 90% of the police lol it’s a total cluster F over here in the UK but I’m not even going down that road I have ranted or too many times about that lol.

      Personally I'm a fan of this style blade. Inspiration is drawn from knives like berg slim, axon, yeager, f5.5 and wharneclifs in general. Also have a look at the 65 DeVille. The lines come directly from there. Cheers!
