I’ve made sure calcium is in range for your type of pool surface and season. I’ve had tremendous results by treating the phosphates and reversing polarity of the cell more frequently. Zero flaking with dozens upon dozens of pools. Accompanied with a calcium chelating agent there is zero calcium build up on the cell fins as well. I’m in south Florida where the water temp can be 90 degrees naturally. Keeping pool in LSI range
New build pool Jandy system right after the 30 days the new cell calcified within days and white flakes everywhere Will try what Bob says, will try and drain 3-6 inches and refill with fresh water and rebalance as well
I have a question. I have a vs pump so I actually keep it running at night it’s at 1000 rpms. The salt generator doesn’t work when the flow is at that speed so the water is still flowing thru it but it’s not working so your suggestion to turn salt generator off before pump isn’t helpful for me. I still get calcium flakes in the pool esp when we have the heater on. I did just change the reverse polarity from every 5 hrs to 3 hrs but will that create more flakes?
Help! I have clear flakes in my pool this year that look like salt, but I use chlorine. The pool is crystal clear and water balanced, but when the sun reflects you can see this weird shimmer on surface. It kind of looks like glitter. We have a one year old de filter and a brand new pump. Nobody can figure out what it is. Any ideas?
This is the best explanation about calcium flakes in swimming pools
Bob, the God of water chemistry, we miss you!
Geat explanation for a new pool owner that wants to understand pool chemistry! big help!
This video should have thousands more comments! This has been an enormous help!!
RIP bob
Thank you for everything

Great information thanks.
Bob mentioned at the end running your calcium and alkalinity a little lower, but he didn't mention the actual levels or range in ppm to run them at.
How do you offset the times???
how to turn cell off before pool shuts off? I assume by simply lowering % of production on cell or board itself
you wire it to a timer or a automated relay

Carole we have Bob Lowry on our Instagram Live tonight 5-19-21 at 6pm Pacific, 8pm Central and 9pm Eastern. I will ask him your question. Thanks
Just tell me in simple terms how to get rid of it.
Uhhhh.... What is LSI ???
Langlier Saturation Index. It shows you in your Taylor test kit.

Do you have a picture of what it looks like
@@poolmanuniversity I do, but the video is better to see it. You can really only see it when the sun reflects off it. Can I email to you?
@@lynnsteel6646 yes. Send me your email and I will send you a reply
@@poolmanuniversity Ok, great thanks. Where do I send to?
@@lynnsteel6646 go to instagram and go to @pool.nation and send me a dm there
What a joke
