Here are some answers to your questions and some more info about BTS as a group
    1. Yes, all 7 members of BTS are Korean. Most of their songs are a mix of Korean and varying degrees of English and they occasionally sing/rap in Japanese too.
    2. All 7 members dance in the group (and can you believe only 2 members had dance experience before joining BTS). But 4 members are vocalists and 3 members are rappers.
    3. Here are the names of the members-
    Jin- age 30- vocalist
Suga aka Agust D- age 30- rapper
    J-Hope- age 29- - rapper
RM- age 29- group leader and rapper
    Jimin- age 27- vocalist
    V- age 27- vocalist
    Jungkook- age 26- vocalist
    4. Dynamite and Butter are 2 of only 3 songs of BTS that are fully English, but their discography including group, subunit, collabs, and solos is well over 300 songs.
    5. BTS is an acronym which stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan in Korean which translates to bulletproof boy scouts in English and they debuted in 2013 with their debut song No More Dream. All current members of BTS are the original members. And BTS started out as a hip hop group but over the years have expanded their sound to include many other genres.
    6. BTS as a group or as soloist have worked with numerous western artists like Coldplay, Jack Harlow Halsey, Latto, Charlie Puth, Steve Aoki, Desiigner, Lauv, Jawsh 685, Jason Derulo, Max, benny blanco, Snoop Dogg, Becky G, Kodak Black, NLE Choppa, JVKE, Muni Long, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Charli XCX, Fall Out Boy, J. Cole, Juice WRLD, Warren G, Wale, Zara Larsson, Lil Nas X, Sia, Anderson .Paak, Erykah Badu, Mahalia.
    7. BTS have had 6 number 1 songs in the US- 2 members (Jimin and Jungkook) have also had number 1 songs separate from BTS, 6 number 1 albums in the US, and 5 Grammy nominations. 11 American Music Awards including Artist of the Year, 12 Billboard music awards, 10 MTV Video Music Awards, and BTS were the best selling music artists in the world 2 years in a row. All 7 members have had solo songs the US billboard hot 100 (the only Korean group to do this) chart and 5 members (so far) have had their solo albums on the US billboard 200 albums chart.
    8. BTS hold the record of the top 2 most viewed music videos in 24 hours on youtube with Butter (108.2 million) and Dynamite (101.1 million).
    9. The members of BTS are currently pursuing solo albums and activities because the group had to take a break to complete their mandatory military service in South Korea. If you are unaware military service is mandatory for all able bodied men in South Korea for a minimum of 18 months. 3 members of BTS (Jin, J-Hope, and Suga) are all currently serving in the military and the other 4 members will be enlisting soon (no exact dates have been announced yet for them). But recently all 7 members renewed their contracts to continue as BTS after their service is completed which they hope will be in 2025.
    10. Thank you for your reaction and I hope you will continue to check out more of BTS music as a group and as soloists.

They did not re-new their contracts yet. That was a translation error and ARMY ran with it. Fact is, the contracts have been presented to the Board of Directors for review and that was made public as per Korean law. The contracts are now in the process of being presented to all 7 members but business journalists do not expect any re-newal before 2025 when all 7 members are out of military again. Signing all members now is also not allowed as the 3 members in the military are not allowed to sign any business related contracts during their military service.

@@sc0ttishlass Hybe says the Board has approved has filed regulatory papers. Negotiations are complete, each member has an attorney of their own. Today or yesterday BigHit announced a 2025 album.

      @sc0ttishlass 10 місяців тому

@@1badlibrarian Bang replied that they are hoping for a tenth anniversary HYYH album. That could already be done, with the schedules they had before hand. Also he said that the boys had no restrictions in diet, dating etc. but we know that was not the case. He wants to keep his investors happy, that is why he suddenly announced the HYYH anniversary. Remember that in his interview with Forbes earlier this year he was not certain if they can keep the 2025 comeback and with new albums still coming out for three members, that date seems to be moving into 'not happening' territory.
Anyway, the Board of Directors - by Korean law - has to approve the contracts that the company wants to present to the artists. That was all that was done. They approved it, (including money offered upfront to the artists to sign the contracts) and NOW they go into negotiations with the lawyers of all 7, to negotiate their individual clauses and terms on said contract. Once that is done, the approved/vetted contracts are re-presented to the BoD, and after they give the nod, the contracts will be signed. That is the usual MO in most SE countries including Korea. It takes up to half a year from the time the contracts are presented to the BoD the first time. So we will be getting info about a renewal/re-sign of contracts by late March at the earliest for those members still not enlisted.
International ARMY read an incorrect google translation and ran with it. But if you had asked any Korean/KARMY they would have told you it was only the presentation of contracts to the BoD and that has to be made public as per Korean law.
So no, contracts have not been signed yet.

Regarding enlistments, if they only have to serve 18 months, they have until mid 2024 to enlist to be out by the end of 2025. I wondered if they planned for the last member to enlist right about the time Jin gets out. That way ARMY is not alone. Lol! I thought that might be the reason behind the line in Astronaut "I get heaven to myself", at least until J-Hope gets out. 😊 It'd be cool if it works that way.

A large portion of the fans don’t speak Korean, so you’re not alone :) Speaking from my experience on how I started listening to BTS, because they do a mix of Korean and English, I can get the gist of their sentiment from the english parts, song title, and the feeling of the song which includes how they’re singing it. Then I look up the lyrics and get blown away by how much deeper it is, and more thought provoking than I realize. After reading it, I actually remember what they’re talking about per verse when I listen to the songs. All their songs are already bangers (without knowing lyrics), but what made a lot of us army were the meaning of their lyrics and are relatable (pre-pandemic, before the three english songs). What you hear on the radio are songs that American radio will only play, and this goes with American/western media, at least at the time. They purposely write/paint a narrative that they are the bright poppy Disney-esque boy band that crazy fans go nuts for and not taken seriously as artists who actually write, compose, and produce their music. Instead of asking them questions like they asked Taylor Swift about songwriting, and being a real artist, they would ask them like what’s your favorite color or English word. These days the questions are a little less dumb in that aspect. Radio is still s*** though lol.

Black Swan lyrics talk about what happens when your passion for doing something you love goes away.
it's pretty difficult to react to their lyrics, music, choreo and imagary at the same time. Most reactors watch the video twice or pull up the lyrics first.
Hope you enjoyed BTS, and react to more of their songs.

As we are on "The Map of the Soul" it is a bit more than that.
It is applied Jungian psychology: their "shadow" as artists.
The shadow is the part of us we can't accept of ourself, the one that keeps us up at night and leaves us no peace: fear, anger, hate, small-mindedness etc. It is our unconsciousness.
But to "Love Yourself" you have to "know yourself": psychology
This is their "greatest fear" as artists: the fear to loose the passion for their art and they fight that in this song.
In "On" we get the acceptance and integration of the "shadow" into our conscious mind to accept it into the "Ego" together with the "Persona" (how others see us) to get as close as possible to our "true self".
Because the "shadow" IS part of us and only with accepting it we can fully become ourself.
(I so love BTS "coming of age" story!)
      💜

54 year old ARMY. BTS has been around a decade now. There are 4 vocalist and 3 rappers, and they are a Korean group. The radio only plays their English songs they only have 3, I much prefer their non English music. They also have music in Japanese, which is amazing. They have music in all genres from rap, hip-hop, edm, pop, R&b, etc. which is what I love about them. No two songs sound the same. They recently been releasing all their own solo music before having to go in the military, which is mandatory in Korea. 3 have already started. The rest will be in by the end of the year or early next so they can be back as a group by the end of 2025. Each one is also great as a solo artist, and I recommend getting to know each member by checking out some solo work. Jungkook, the main vocalist, just released a solo song last week called 3D with Jack Harlow if you want to start there. That is actually all in English.

Hello, BTS ARMY here (since 2019)
to answer a few of your questions.
yes they are Korean, they are 7 members. They are loved by many not only because of their music but for much deeper reasons, which I hope you will eventually find out.
They do include english in their songs, they also sing in Japanese and as you mentioned at the beginning they sing in English. However most of their songs (300+) is in Korean.
I will comeback and look for more BTS reactions
I would recommend one of my favorites (i have so many)
MAGIC SHOP, they don't have an official MV so i recommend the live performance with English subs. I would include the link but sometime youtube deletes comments that include links so I hope you can find it.
Please be aware that ARMY are very protective of BTS so as long as you continue to react to BTS with an open mind and with respect (as today) then you will be welcomed with open arms.

One might assume I'm an old fan of theirs for like 10 years, but in reality I've only discovered BTS just a year ago 💀.

The English songs you heard on the radio were 3 songs done during the pandemic to cheer fans up all over the world. I’d suggest watching the guide to the 7 members of BTS by Taylor. Black Swan is about losing your passion for your art hence their first death. All can dance but Jimin was a top student at a contemporary dance school before BTS and J-hope was also a dancer first. BTS are a driver of tourism in S Korea. They’ve been invited to speak at the UN twice. They’ve held diplomatic passports. They’ve been invited to the White House. They’re the perfect example of cultural soft power. So far beyond a K-pop group or a boy band, although they wear those titles proudly. I’ve heard the words sensation, phenomenon, juggernaut used to describe them, and while that’s true, they’re also seven talented dudes who worked really hard, and by their own admission, got really lucky. The power of their charisma and brotherly group dynamic is matched only by their work ethic and humility. Welcome to Boraworld.

Thanks for listening to BTS. Others have already explained a bit, so this may be repeating. They are a 7 member band (3 rappers and 4 vocalists) who write and produce their own music, openly sharing their life experiences and struggles.
They explore many deep and philosophical concepts including the likes of Demien by Herman Hesse, and Carl Jung's psychological theories outlined in Map of the Soul. From the very first song they debuted with (No more Dream) they have challenged preconceptions and societal prejudices. Because of the extent of their artistic freedom and their involvement in writing and production, I don't think they can be legitimately compared with any 'boy band' from the West. This is why we say they are not a boy band - because the term is too often misunderstood and diminishing.
They sing mostly in Korean with some English content: no one objects to you not knowing Korean. There are multiple fans who work to support non-Korean fans with translations. The few all-English songs are not typical. Thanks fro re-cuing - no one objects to anyone being careful to listen deeply and with care! We will have all the patience. And No One expects anyone to know everything immediately - there is just too much! They have over 300 songs and now they also have lots of independent solo work as well! Not to mention all the other content they have made for fans!
My preferred source for lyrics is www.dooletbangtan.wordpress.com. This site includes link to the MV, lists production staff involved, a brief note about the ideas behind any song, and lists lyrics in Hangul (the Korean script - easy to learn) and in English, along with brief notes on word play and cultural references as appropriate. BTS songs are extremely clever and we NEED those notes to fully understand what is going on! Modern MVs have subtitles, which are great, but often only offer surface meaning.
For example, Black Swan was written about a period when BTS, who had had about 5 days off in the previous 8 years, were experiencing burn-out and arranged to have 2 weeks (Two Weeks!) off, spending that travelling Korea and being with their families, who they hardly ever get to see. They were all seriously considering disbandment, but decided to stay together and signed another 7 year contract for their fans (not money). Black Swan, based on a quote from Martha Graham, explores their fear at that time that they had lost their passion for music, and how that would feel like a death.
Also feel free to rewatch with us. We all do it.

Thank you for reacting to Black Swan. I'm in the U.S. and found BTS in early 2021 through this MV. The artistry of it - both visually and lyrically - drew me in and BTS and all it's individual 7 members are my favorite group of all time. That's saying something because I'm 66 years old. Their music generally is in Korean with some English, so you do have to read subtitles most of the time. The group is comprised of Leader "RM", 2 other rappers (Suga and J-Hope), and 4 vocalists (Jung Kook, Jin, Jimin and V). Since mid-2022, they are on "break" as a group because they are each gradually enlisting in South Korea's mandatory military service. However, during this time they are each putting out solo albums and/or singles, as well as other content they filmed in advance on occasion. Their discography as a group, and as soloists is extensive, so I do hope you'll check out more content. Newcomers tend to like MicDrop (a Steve Aoki remix) which is from around 2017. By the way, the Black Swan LIVE performance from their LA (2021) or Las Vegas (April 2022) concerts is absolutely breathtaking. These guys sing and rap while dancing. They've worked so hard to get where they are now. I have grown quickly to have mass respect for all of them. If you want to watch an introductory video about them, let us fans (known as ARMY) know and we'll recommend.

I feel the pain of a slow internet connection just as you're doing a project. 😅
For reactions in foreign language (especially BTS), I'd maybe do a run through on just watching the video and then a 2nd view for the lyrics. In Black Swan they're talking about losing your creative passion or getting writers block but the sentiment can apply to anything in your life that's hurting you.
To me, the song is more important than the video, so don't sweat it if people complain about the slow down. Stuff happens with technology and just gotta deal with it.🙂
They also have videos of dance practices that help us see the whole dance. They're very intricate.
I enjoyed your reaction and open mindness to their music. Thank you for reacting.

Hi! Thank you so much for reacting to bts, and for being respectful & open minded! Subbed btw. I know it can be difficult to follow, it can take a bit to get used to reading subs, listening, & watching the mv's/ dancing when youre not used to it, but i promise it gets easier! Yes that is the whole group, all of them can dance as well as sing and/or rap. (4 vocalists & 3 rappers)
They are an incredibly diverse group, overs 300 songs (actually its much higher than that now but im not sure of the exact number). They do a multitude of genres, ballads, rap, edm, latin pop and on, & unlike the majority of kpop groups (& western boy bands for that matter) , they write the majority of their songs, as well composing & producing songs for themselves & others, and their lyrics are deep. Their music has helped so many of us get through tough times. ARMY (fandom name) is also unique for kpop in that they reach all ages , genders, races etc. (Im about to be 51, when i saw them in concert dec 2021 in LA, i went with my 18 year old kid & a 77 year old friend 😊)
If you tell us what kind of music you typically listen to, we can recommend songs more tailored to your preferences, as i said they do multiple genres and styles so theres something for everyone.
    My suggestions:
~ For live performances if you go to the channel "enjoy bts more" they added subs to all the lives on their channel. Oh, it may get blocked on UA-cam but since you mentioned butter, check out the live performance they did for the grammys, omg they added some insane stuff to the choreo & made every other act look pathetic in comparison lol
(not all songs have mv's & tbh they often sound even better live, & yes they dance insane choreos whilt singing even super high notes, & srsly sound better live!)
~ for some songs like ugh!, ddaeng, idol and some others, if you go to the channel "dkdktv", you can watch _______ explained by a korean. Some songs youll not understand the deeper meaning if you dont get the korean cultural references and dkdktv does a great job of explaining them.
~ you should know ARMYs will watch you react to anything bts related no matter how long it is & how many times we've seen it lol. I say this because youre going to get a lot of requests (from me included 😂) to learn about the group and its members. We dont just love the boys for their music, but for who they are as people & their message. If you like extreme inspiring underdog stories, as well as positivity & being the best human you can be, youll love these guys. The best guide for this is almost an hour long but we *WILL* watch it with you, you dont have to cut it or worry. The guide is called "a guide to bts members: the bangtan 7" by taylor mari. No subtitles are need for this.
~ if reading the subs & watching at the same time are too much of a struggle , or if you want to make sure the translations are correct, you can google "doolset bts _____ (song title)" and they have the best translations for all of their songs, & they also explain any cultural references or wordplay in the lyrics, as well as when the lyrics reference another song, something a member said in the past etc. Some reactors will just listen & watch the mv and enjoy that aspect, while using doolset to dissect the lyrics, either before or after the mv.
~ you might get overwhelmed by ARMYs making suggestions etc, so know its ok to react to them at your pace, in any order you want. (Some ARMYs will tell you to react in order from debut onward, but its ok to do it your way, we will watch no matter which way you choose to do it.) 😊
~ with a fanbase as large as theirs, there will be some toxic "fans". (Imo those aren't real ARMY) Ignore them & know the majority of us are not like that. As long as youre honest and respectful (which you were in this reaction) we'll support you.
Song requests: a variety of styles:
~ BTS room live festa 2021: a portion of 7 different songs, in a casual live setting. Mix of styles
~ run bts either live or dance practice. I like the practice because you can see their dance moves better. The lights in the live make it kinda hard to see the moves. This is a high energy song with some really good raps. Side note, be sure to look up "bts run by bts" and be sure its from 2022 as they have an older song called "run" & their variety show is also called "run bts" they like to confuse us 😂
    ~ on kinetic manifesto mv.
    ~ fake love mv
~ house of cards live: vocal line song only, shows off the vocals with a semi bluesy, jazzy sound
~ ddaeng live, no mv. Rapline song. Crazy word play. (The word ddaeng has multiple meanings, they use at least 7 different meanings of the word!)
    ~
Ddaeng explained by a Korean by dkdktv. You could do these in 1 video if you want, as i said we like long videos lol.
Thats probably more than enough for now lol. Please please please react to more BTS content, including the guide! We'll love you forever if you do lol! 💜
Sorry for writing a book lol.

Hi. 51 year old ARMY from UK. I remember the 80s too. This group is so much more than the our concept of a boy band. All 7 members write and produce, their music is authentic to them. To give you an idea of the depth of their lyrics take this MV. This is fron their Map of the Soul series where they explore Jungian psychological concepts of Persona, Shadow and Ego. The shadow being your subconcious fears. In their case they took a quote from Martha Graham - a dancer dies twice, 1st death when theg can no longer dance and this death is more painful - and related it to their own fears. What if they lose their passion for making music right now? In Jung's theory you cannot reach self realisation if you do not acknowledge your fears and accept them. So this song is about yhem achieving that. The shadows in the MV move independently of the artist. At one point Suga turns and reaches out to touch his shadow and raps that he looked inside and saw himself. This means he acknowledged his fear amd realised it was just part of himself. At the end Jungkook sees the shadow and it shrinks and disappears. He has acknowledged and accepted his fear so he can move forward, shown in the MV by him turning and walking away. There are so many references to the movie Black Swan in the MV like the mirrors. Lastly, they are seen wearing white when you are viewing them on stage from thd audience point of view - this depicts their persona, the image they present to the viewers. When the scenes are shot iff the stage or from behind the stage they are wearing black, portraying thier shadow selfs. All together the sound and visuals beautifully present their struggles with their fear of losing passion for their art.
If you thought this was fast to read just wait for the Cyphers or Ugh. The lyrics on the MVs are usually pretty good but on colour coded lyrics they can be a bit wrong at times. I recommend the website Doolset for really good translations and it also provides brief explanations to the Korea culture/word plays to help understand.
For their early MVs the version on their own channel, Hybe label, does not have subtitles but on the channel 1theK they do. For live performances, because they are better live than in the studio!, always look for one with Eng Subs or use the channel Enjoy BTS More. She adds doolset english subs to them. Enjoy the journey 💜

  • @brionyfakatou1620
    @brionyfakatou1620 10 місяців тому

This song is from their Map of the Soul series which is based on the psychological theories of famous Swiss psychologist Carl Jung. Jung theorized that the human psyche has three parts: the Persona (how other people perceive you, the Ego (how you perceive yourself, and the Shadow (the part of yourself that you try to hide from both others and yourself. All your fears, weaknesses and shortcomings) Jung suggests that to find true happiness and be at peace you must accept all three parts of yourself including the shadow. No matter how painful that process might be. In this song BTS is referring to the shadow as a black swan, and is talking specifically about their fear of one day losing their passion for music. At the beginning of the song they are full of fear and the shadow is huge and cannot be controlled, moving on its own. But by the middle of the song they are able to master their fear, and at the end of the video the giant shadow shrinks down until it disappears. So this song is just one step in the process of accepting their shadow as part of themselves and becoming whole.

They all sing and dance. The featured dancer on this one was Jimin and he is one of the vocalists. Ty. I hope you do more BTS. You will get used to the subtitles in no time. To be honest I watch all MVs with subs now because it feels so natural. I realized that even with music in English I didn’t know what they were saying half the time. There has never been a boy band like this before. I always say that comparing BTS to a boy band is like comparing a computer to a typewriter. 😊 they write and compose. Tks again. Did someone already mention that this songs ties to a Martha Graham quote that A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing, which is by far the hardest. 💜

You actually caught a lot for a first time through Black Swan! If you watch more BTS, you might want to plan to go through things a few times, or read the lyric translations in advance - it's a lot to take in. You can do it however you want to, whatever you'll enjoy. They have ten years' worth of music as a group and now they all have solos out as well. :D
This is a favorite of mine - every version of it is beautiful. I'm glad you recognized that the dancing didn't look easy. It wasn't. :) Jimin's dance solos in this drew heavily on his dance background. They're telling a story through his movement.

Be patient with yourself. There is a learning curve to read the lyrics while watching. Feel free to stop, go back if you need to. They sing mainly in Korean, but mixed with English. They also sing some in Japanese. I they are the only group to be on the charts in three languages (can’t remember if that at the same time or not).
BTS sings many genres and their lyrics are usually much deeper than normal K-Pop. They are honestly just as good, if not better, live. Hi 👋 With "Black Swan," BTS divulge their most harrowing shadow yet, one that any person who lives for making art faces: losing the passion for creating.
"A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." Martha Graham. This quote is at the root of the sentiments inlaid in "Black Swan." Much like a dancer feels purposeless when they can no longer express themselves through dance, BTS contends that the day that music no longer fills them with the same passionate fire as before, or even if there came a day when they stopped creating music - what they feel is their life's purpose - it would feel like death.
RM sings, "If this can no longer resonate / No longer make my heart vibrate / Then this may be how I die my first death."
Once again, BTS affirm that despite their countless record-breaking accolades, the wealth they've amassed, and their ever-increasing fame, they are artists. What means most to them is the art - music, visuals, dances - that they create.
    Thanks for sharing your reaction
    Have a great day

It's hard to give you suggestions because I don't know what kind of music you like. Pick genre and they have a song. Like jazz? House of cards would be my choice. Like rap? Ugh or Ddaeng would be my choice. Like ballads? Your eyes tell would be my choice. So it really depends on kind of music you like and be prepared to have your thinking cap on. A lot of their songs are deep. Thank you for reacting to these 7 men! 💜😁💜

BTS are 7 members 3 Rappers 2 of which were part of the underground Hip Hop scene as Rappers and one as producer. There are 4 Vocalists. They are all Song Writers, Composers and Producers each one to a greater or lesser extend. The can also all dance. The one with the blue hair vocalist is a Contemporary and Hip Hop Dancer and he's a Martial Arts Expert so is know for his Flips and flying kicks. Nearly every member is able to play at least instrusement and 3 of the members have played instruments live on stage. They are all solo Artists and have been in the industry for 10years plus. These are just some of the reason they form the Super Group.

Hola... tengo 58 años, Argentina. La bailarina Martha Graham dijo que el artista muere dos veces, la primera es cuando deja de hacer su arte. De eso habla un poco este tema. 💜🇦🇷

7 south Korean members of BTS.
It has subheadings on the bottom . It was actually pretty slow . It probably wasn’t an ideal song to introduce them . They sing RnB, Latin songs , EDM . They debuted in 2013 .
IF your interested in knowing about them , I can recommend the documentary 7 members by Celeste . Thanks for reacting ❤
