It definitely is strange. That was not a rule at my university. But my university was so small that you probably knew some of the girls in the different sororities anyway. Also the whole no talking to any affiliated girls is definitely odd. During recruitment we were told that you cannot give potential new members advice on which sorority they pick or express opinions about the other sororities.
I had never heard that at any other colleges or from any of the girls I was in college with. I would be interested to know why that rule would exist, or whether these girls misunderstood what they were told about differentiating themselves from others with their outfits. I have noticed different rules throughout a lot of these videos. For instance, between parties, most girls will go back to their room or do whatever they want, while at one school the girl mentioned they all had to go to one building and sit in silence until all the parties were done.
It’s not true, I go to the same school and a lot of rumors go around before recruitment so they were just saying something false, every sorority has slideshows with your picture and name on it😂

Kaitlin Donmoyer not necessarily. Even if they follow the rules, some girls do get cut from recruitment and don't get a bid at all. It happened to me my freshmen year and got cut before the 3rd round. I tried again my sophomore year and found my home. It can be pretty cutthroat and competitive sometimes.
Ilana Pinsky it depends on your school! Like Kathryn said above, my school and a lot of schools guarantee a bid from one if you follow the rules. But it just depends where you go

For everyone asking what a sorority is, it is basically a large organization that raises money for a specific philanthropy (or charity). I am not sure what Chi Omega's is, but I will use mine for example. I was a Delta Gamma and our philanthropy is Service for Sight. So, any women who is a Delta Gamma helped raise money to help those who had visual impairments (blind, glasses, etc.). Although our main purpose is to raise money for our philanthropy, there were a lot of other fun aspects to being in a sorority. We had socials (with fraternities), date parties and formals (like college prom or homecoming). We could hold leadership positions (which helped us gain experience in a leadership role). If you are a female you can join a sorority and if you are a male you can join a fraternity (all together you guys are called Greek Life). Although being in a sorority isn't for everyone, there are a lot of great benefits from it. Hopefully this helps! Feel free to ask any further questions about it
Can you mix girls and boys in one "group"? And also does each person in the group has to go through what they call "hazing". And how long do you have to stay in the group? If for example, you don't want to be in the sorority anymore, is it easy to leave or do you have to go A process? I grew up knowing that fraternities/sororities are bad, but I also wonder why are they mostly held at school grounds. I apologize for the many questions.
chase nicole Girls can only get into sororities and boys can only get into fraternities, but they can “come together” at things called socials/mixers where one sorority will have a party with a fraternity. As for hazing, almost all universities now have a zero tolerance policy on hazing. Unfortunately, it does still happen however. It happened a lot with the fraternities at my school. However, there are also a lot of sororities/fraternities that take the zero tolerance policy very seriously and don’t haze at all. And, you can leave your sorority or fraternity whenever you want/need to. I’m not sure of the process at every sorority, but I think you just have to sign some papers and let your organization know you want to drop out of it.

Fair warning. The sorority process is not all smiles and giggles. It can be hard looking at how “happy” girls who rush and join are. At least it’s hard for me. It can fool you into thinking “hey. Those girls look happy. I want to be that happy. So maybe i should join a sorority like them and i can be happy too”. It doesn’t always workout like that. The rush process is stressful and can hype you up to a let down. The most common example is your favorite house dropping you which leads you to question yourself and wonder “why am i not good enough to get into XYZ sorority” which brings you down a path of tearing yourself apart. Then there’s sorority rankings which can sway your decision. Idk. Just fair warning. The sorority process is a rollercoaster. Don’t expect “all good times all the time”

Basically my process when I was at Baylor. The sororities I made the most connections with didn’t even pick me in the final rounds and the ones where I barely knew anyone did. I ended up not being able to join a sorority for financial reasons that occurred that year because the bid was too expensive for my family but I did other organizations instead. I'm not from the US but I hope you understand my way of explaining it without really living this reality. So, a Sorority is kind of a family of girls who meet in college. In a university there are lots of sororities, and they are represented by the letters of the greek alphabet. In a person's freshman year in college, girls can rush for a sorority, and boys for a fraternity (it's optional), and once they get into their desired sorority or fraternity, they become a big happy old "family" (this has been a thing for centuries in the US now). It's kind of an interesting concept, except for when of course the person doesn't get in the one they want. But sorry, I'm curious, where are you from? "Da Silva" is a portuguese last name very common here in Brazil.

I've never heard the "can't identify a PNM by her name" rule before (that would have made selection sessions SO much more of a headache from the member side!!) - so crazy how different each school's recruitment & rules are! Congrats (:

Your mom taught me to braid when I was in junior high and now here I am watching you join a sisterhood at the college I just graduated from. Congrats ladies and sic em bears 🐻
As someone in a multicultural sorority, all Greek life is amazing, it’s what you make out of it. Definitely out of respect to all organizations it’s important to learn the Greek alphabet so you don’t mispronounce anyone’s letters and have mutual respect for one another. Definitely make friends from different councils, don’t be afraid to go to other sororities events to go and support other councils. Your grades always come first! Always put academics before sorority stuff, something people in Greek get lost is the idea that you’re there to get a degree first, your sorority won’t give you that degree. Don’t be afraid to speak up if you see something wrong or something makes you uncomfortable. But most importantly be safe and have, and definitely stay true to yourselves.
This is a genuinely dumb process i live in the U.S. My older sister is apart of a sorority and she had to get permission to come to my 16th birthday and our grandmothers funeral...
“Wow this is dumb at my college we actually learn” I’m sure I’m not the first person to say this but it’s not impossible to focus on school and a club at the same time. Sorority women have some of the highest GPAs at their schools because of the academic requirements they have. And I promise not every sorority woman is shallow and dumb. If that’s all you know, you know the wrong women. Just let other people enjoy themselves. I don’t even know who they are I just clicked on the video bc I was curious which one they joined 🤷🏼♀️

You pay an outrageous amount of money usually somewhere around 10 thousand dollars per year to make friends basically. They have events and that sort of thing. It's really a waste of money. You can make friends and go to parties, events, help with charitable organizations etc without being in a sorority.

Welcome to our sisterhood. I was initiated into Chi Omega at Baylor in 1986. Believe it or not, I TOO, went through all those same emotions as you did! I still keep in touch with many of my sisters 33 years later :)
@@usamarafieck1715 The benefits of joining an organization is experience, teamwork, leadership, and networking. You can definitely use an organization as experience such as Vice president or President of a organization looks good on a resume. At the end of the day a greek organization is a business and needs money to operate so being able to practice that during college is very helpful in your career. Again practicing leadership and greek organizations usually have a conference or something along the lines where you can learn about leadership skills. Finally networking, networking is just as important as a degree these days and knowing the right people can start your career and help you get experience before you leave college.

little piece of advice... KNOW THAT SORORITIES ARE A CONTRACT. I joined and signed whatever they threw at me. Now when I am being unfairly fined $25+ for not signing an agreement because I was on a special leave, they tell me I must pay it because it was in my contract. if i don't pay i go to collections. READ EVERYTHING make sure you understand the liabilities you have.

Some sororities fraternities pronounce their letters like ancient Greeks would because that's what it's based on, but sometimes it depends on the school or chapter too
Katie Shanks Yep honey we do ancient Greek in school and that's again a wrong way to pronounce it. Anyway modern Greek characters are read exactly the same as the ancient characters do. So again it doesn't make sense. Also they keep telling that Σ is like E but that's a whole different letter and it's not even a vowel. I'm pretty sure I know my language well enough to read characters
I’m so happy for you both! This is a very different process than my sorority (NPHC) but I can feel the excitement surrounding recruitment week as I watched you two! Congrats on getting your #1 choice! ChiO is a great sorority.

Love your hair style with the wrap around braid Brooklyn. It suits you so well. Anyone else that loves Brooklyn's lovely braid?
when they opened their letters and started jumping and screaming that warmed my heart that was so cute 💜 congrats luvs
Yeah, I was so touching
Just the thought of going to university in a few years makes me so anxious but you guys make it look so easy and casual and every video calms me! This must be what having older sisters is like!! Thank you!! Xxxx
I've never heard the "can't identify a PNM by her name" rule before (that would have made selection sessions SO much more of a headache from the member side!!) - so crazy how different each school's recruitment & rules are! Congrats (:
This rule is not true
omg bailey looks STUNNING with her hair and makeup like that
wOw!! That’s funny how u both felt to join the same sorority 😂
Ily ur channel!!!
.
I’m a Baylor Zeta alum, graduated last May! It’s so crazy to see y’all come to our school and go through the same process I did 5 years ago. So many mems. Your mom taught me to braid when I was in junior high and now here I am watching you join a sisterhood at the college I just graduated from. Congrats ladies and sic em bears 🐻
When someone says Sorority I think of Legally Blonde...
Eimear Nic Dhonnchadha same
I think of scream queens 😂
same
oMg Yes. I love Elle woods!
No.
What do you mean with greek life?🤔 I mean i am greek and i don't get the whole sorority thing, what exactly is it about?
@@ifigeniasocratous2840 same, I lived in Greece too and got confused 😂
I love Greek sksks and I'm from Malaysia
This is a genuinely dumb process i live in the U.S. My older sister is apart of a sorority and she had to get permission to come to my 16th birthday and our grandmothers funeral...
elisa oof
Baylor Chi Omerga is my home!!!!!! You are going to freaking love it! Proud alumn
emeraldf14 yes yes same!! Congrats!!
Amber Billenstein True Story
did they say that?
Esther Petit Frere no I’m pretty sure she’s meaning all the other comments of people saying that sororities are just for shallow people.
rushed pi phi this fall at alabama & joining greek life has been the best thing to ever happen to me! looking back at my vlog, i knew i was going to be pi phi all along! congrats!
love your channel!
PPL!!!
PPL!
Gracie O’Connor I live in Alabama! Good luck on your college journey!
PPL!!
Anyone else kinda wanted Brooklyn and bailey to be in separate sororities
Yes
twins usually end up in the same sorority
Nope
The only thing about that is they didn’t tell each other so they chose on their own without the other twins influence.
A sorority WILL NEVER DIVIDE REAL SISTERS...especially LEGACIES!!!
I’m going to Baylor next year, so this is SO helpful! I can’t wait sic em💛💚💛💚
Jordan Schier you should join their sorority😂😂
Maddie & Emma I want to join one that I love for myself haha!
same!
Cori Ann omg! sic em!!
I still can’t believe how much they’ve grown I started watching them when I was like in second grade and they were only in middle school at that time I’m so proud of them😍🤯
My mom works at a sorority and she says she loves it because everyone is so kind.. thanks to this video I’m totally thinking on joining one🤞🏻
I swear to God before the video even started I thought you guys would join Chi-O! I don't even go to the same university, but just based on the Chi-O's I know, I knew you'd fit in so well there!!
I felt the same way! I was a Chi O in college and I had a feeling they would fit right in.
Y’all always have the cutest outfits!! 💕💕
So true!!!
Am I the only one that doesn’t know what a sorority is?
Eva Be I’m not quite sure but I think it a popular college club thing
Ella’s World It’s a group of girls who live together and do activities together at some American universities. The male version is a fraternity.
You pay an outrageous amount of money usually somewhere around 10 thousand dollars per year to make friends basically. They have events and that sort of thing. It's really a waste of money. You can make friends and go to parties, events, help with charitable organizations etc without being in a sorority.
violetrae TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS?!!! Wow those friends better be good
@@violetrae4858 noooo u don't
OMG OMG I cant believe it! Im a Chi Omega at NCSU!! I am so happy for you. You are going to have the best time of your life and find your life long sisters! LICO
Who else loves Brooklyn and Bailey🙋🏼♀️
You know it!
Meeeee
🙋🏼♀️
Me
Please do a video about explaining what a sorority is.
Grace Lane it’s kinda like a club that you can choose to be in when your in college
Its like a real good sisterhood you can join in college.
pleaseee and how everything works
Please do
Welcome to our sisterhood. I was initiated into Chi Omega at Baylor in 1986. Believe it or not, I TOO, went through all those same emotions as you did! I still keep in touch with many of my sisters 33 years later :)
I've been waiting for this video!!!
Same!!!!!!
yikes choosing your sorority is "the most difficult choice of your life"
eva Your point?? How lucky are they for that!? That’s not a bad thing .
To be completely honest it is a difficult choice because you only pick once and these are going to be some of the closest friends in your life.
Yes but you’d think that other choices may be more important like choosing a college
What the benefits for joining a sorority?
@@usamarafieck1715 The benefits of joining an organization is experience, teamwork, leadership, and networking. You can definitely use an organization as experience such as Vice president or President of a organization looks good on a resume. At the end of the day a greek organization is a business and needs money to operate so being able to practice that during college is very helpful in your career. Again practicing leadership and greek organizations usually have a conference or something along the lines where you can learn about leadership skills. Finally networking, networking is just as important as a degree these days and knowing the right people can start your career and help you get experience before you leave college.
I’ve been watching your channel for years and I’m a chi omega too!!! Welcome to the best sisterhood this sorority has changed my life for the better and I can’t wait to watch your journey! LICO ❤️💛☠️🦉
Paige Simmons im confused. Are the same sororitys all over the country or are their different ones in different states/colleges
Paige Simmons sane i’m rly confused
Hi everyone! Not all sorority recruitments are like this. I go to a small state university and our sorority recruitments are much more laid back. So don’t get discouraged while watching recruitment videos! Every school is different. :)
I love how even though they decided to not tell each other what the chose and they ended up choosing and being in the same sorority. I think that's so cute ❤️😸😊
IM A CHI OMEGA LICO SISTERS IM SO HAPPY TO SHARE THIS SISTERHOOD WITH YOU 😭❤️🦉 since the moment I’ve watched your videos you have embodied everything it means to be a Chi Omega. I can’t wait to watch you flourish. Give your all to Chi Omega and she will never disappoint you.
On the bid day almost every girl had blond hair or blond streaks. Not judging, just saying 👅
white girl tings 👑🌸✨
Some of us look better with blonde hair? Even my black friends have blonde streaks in their hair?
AND YOU GUYS ALMOST DIDN'T EVEN GO TO THE SAME COLLEGE
Im from Northern Ireland and legit have no clue what sororities really are/do lol, would love for you guys to do a video on it 😂 🙊
It's a waste of your time. I wouldn't join one if I were you. Most of the people are rude and arrogant. And they are a bit narcissistic
Arianna Alonso that what you think not all college is like that
They literally don’t do anything. You’re not missing out lol
I’m from Northern Ireland too! 🎉 Its so cool and rare to find someone who watches Brooklyn & Bailey that is from our wee country ✨
@@anna-louisedougan8586 Hey ! Thats so cool, your right its rare to find other Northern Irish youtubers even :)
Who else is OBSESSED with Brooklyn and Bailey’s ‘snappy casual’ (🤣) outfits 😂
Oh my gosh 🥰 the sisterly love when they opened the envelope
As a recruitment counselor at a smaller university it is always cool to see how larger universities do recruitment! I’m so happy you both found your perfect homes 💓
Can u guys do a hair tutorial video using your merch
Cucumba 113 yea!!
who else LOVES brooklyn and bailey's college videos?
Hi Brooklin and Bailey!!!I just want you to know to NEVER stop smilling because you make everyone happy❤❤❤❤
Brooklyn: Maybe Kamri will join the squad
Kamri: Hold my BYU admission letter
where is she goimg
@@brookerichardson3566 She's a sophomore or maybe even a junior at BYU.
little piece of advice...
I'm in Chi O at Northern Arizona University! So happy you found your home in Chi O, LIXO!
CARDINAL AND STRAW LOOK SO GOOD ON YA'LL!
LICO from a Chi Omega at UNC Charlotte 💕
i’m an alpha gamma delta at texas state and joining a sorority has been the best decision i have ever made! i loves watching your journey through recruitment! My friends are tri delts at baylor and they love it so i’m glad you liked it as well! love your videos! ❤️❤️

Omg the telepathy was so real I was so nervous for you guys. Im so happy you got want you wanted hope you enjoy the rest of your year!! 💖💖💖
PS I'm a youtuber as well☺️
Am I the only one who thought that for a minute sororities were always the ones with drinking alcohol or a frat?
Joyti Nath they are
that is exactly wat it is
They are...
Joyti Nath they are. You join so you can go to all the parties.
Joyti Nath I mean some of them are it I’m being honest
so funny you both had the same top two sororities. glad you had a great recruitment experience! 💕
this is the whitest thing i've ever seen
racist
Here's a digital hug 🤝
Have a good day and stay positive
Sophie i was just about to say😂
ikr😂
No lie
Am I the only one who kind of wanted them to be in different ones
Orlaith Buckley i wanted them to go in different ones too
yes i did too!
Me to
Noo.. I wanted them to be together in everything 😅😝
YAY Im also living vicariously through you guys!!!
How they talk about sorority reminds me about the movie “Sidney white”!!!😂😂
Same! I love that movie
That was filmed at my college! My sister was actually an extra in it, she was on screen multiple times! Cool to know people are still watching it!
that was such a great movie omg
I'm an alum now, but I went through recruitment and the biggest thing is trusting the process. i ended up with my #2 on bid day and it turned out perfectly okay. the girls you meet change your life :)
i wish we had this at my uni, i got emotional cause the amount of love in that room must feel great & the excitement of the week building up to it seems amazing
Anyone else from Greece who struggles to hear them miss pronouncing Greek letters?
Heliana V. Same
Hahaha yesss
Some sororities fraternities pronounce their letters like ancient Greeks would because that's what it's based on, but sometimes it depends on the school or chapter too
Katie Shanks Yep honey we do ancient Greek in school and that's again a wrong way to pronounce it. Anyway modern Greek characters are read exactly the same as the ancient characters do. So again it doesn't make sense. Also they keep telling that Σ is like E but that's a whole different letter and it's not even a vowel. I'm pretty sure I know my language well enough to read characters
Yep.
I’m so happy for you both! This is a very different process than my sorority (NPHC) but I can feel the excitement surrounding recruitment week as I watched you two! Congrats on getting your #1 choice! ChiO is a great sorority.
I’m going to Baylor next year and I’m so excited to rush!
THEYRE BOTH IN CHI OMEGAAA😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So does everyone get into one?
Abby lalonde I don’t know about every college, but at my college no. Each day they cut people.
Omg I love your outfits they’re so cute ❤️
It’s been 5 years and I am watching those videos with nostalgia 😢😢😢 ❤
Love that they were getting ready at 6:30 meanwhile the actives (at least in my sorority) had to be dressed and ready to go in the chapter room by 6:30 😂😂
I 'm a Chi O too! I am so excited for y'all join this treasured sisterhood and for all the amazing opportunities she will bring you! LICO
Anna do u go to the same college as them or are the sororities the same across the us
I'm a Chi O too!! LICO
Omg you guys make me wanna start a sorority😂💗
Honestly your college videos are making me cry out of happiness
I love how Brooklyn is a normal teen with acne 🙋♀️
I’m an ADPI at a smaller school in Iowa and I completely relate to this entire process!! I wish when I went through I could have found a video like this! It’s so complicated but honestly it’s so worth it, I love my sorority and my sisters!
Tara Butler Do you go to UNI by chance? I grew up close to CF. I was a Pi Phi at Simpson College 😊
Brittany Robb No I actually go to Drake! Familiar with Simpson, however! Very cool :)
What's a sorority?
Hi!! Sister!! I’m an adpi at the University of Central Oklahoma!!
Madison Guile 💎 so cool!
can we acknowledge how positive their rush experience was without them being legacies??? YGG!!!
So happy for both of you!!! I’m a Chi Omega alum i graduated May 2018! You just made the best decision ever woop wooop!!!!
Literally obsessed with Bailey's eyelashes like wow
I’m so excited for you guys to start your journey with a sorority!
I joined a sorority in my freshman year at university too and it’s the best choice I’ve made since! I’ve had friends and sisters supporting me through out my life ever since.
Our recruitment process wasn’t as complex or scary, I’m from a small university in Canada and the sorority I rushed for was the only one on campus. I’m a Kappa :) (Kappa Beta Gamma)
Is it bad I cried when you guys got into ChiO because I’m so excited for you guys !? Great video
I’m an ADPi and joining a sorority was one of the best things I’ve done for my college experience! Hope you guys enjoy it! I will say your rushing experience seems way more intense, we didn’t have a lot of the rules you guys had but my university is pretty small so maybe that’s why. (:
