That's actually false, the engine on the P1 LM is a 4.0L TT V8, whereas the one on the P1 GTR is a 3.8L TT V8.

If the P1 LM is a road legal P1 GTR why are there distinctions made between road legal P1 GTRs and the P1 LMs? This is done by Mclaren themselves and the owners.
P1 LM is not road legal P1 GTR but a separate series of 5 cars made by McLaren-Lanzante. They use a further tuned engine, are lighter and more aerodynamic (visually, a bigger rear wing). Lanzante also converted a few P1 GTRs to road legal but they are not the same as the LMs.
