I don’t think new UA-cam is the worst but I’d just prefer content that’s genuine and not to make money while making money isn’t bad it doesn’t mean you should just live your life for that
im from nz, the shooter was just tryna get as much atention on himself as possible, he even said so in the live stream. he said many other things just for atention. truly a horrible person. the same day of the shooting there was a massive protest abt climate change and the governments doing nothing abt it at parlament that students, including myself, atented. but the shooter had planed it so that no one would be talking abt the protest and just talking abt him. that scumbags rotting in prison now
honestly im happy this era happened, but i never would want this to come back. would much prefer if youtube was like it was around 2011-2015. leafy was a very necessary evil as well as people like ricegum because they taught us alot in the end. especially leafy because he would not survive in today’s age not only because of the “snowflakes” but just because his content was extremely low effort and lacked substance. aside from reaction videos, alot of videos nowadays are way more transformative than they were back in the day. dont wanna yap my ass off but great video laiser.
Crapping on SJWs left and right, common Keem and leafy crap going on, Filthy Frank being almost a necessary watch whenever he uploaded along with idubbz grew out of it, but so did they Pewds is a father now, leafy never evolved, franku saw ahead but went into a meh industry tbh, idubbz fell into the simp trap, keem tries to make himself a good when we all know he's pretty garbo h3's fall was quite abysmal as well it was fun while it lasted, when we were edgy teens, but now that most are in their 20s now with jobs and starting up their lives, its pretty good this way now that doesnt take away that youtube is awfully censorious on many levels, or even biased in various sects but genz could just get into better things somewhat as bad as it is most are still wanting the edginess and find it in tik tok, which is pretty cringe even the more older generations as well just sort of hypnotized by the thing
I don't think its that people are more sensitive to the offensive content. That content was definitely driven to popularity by teenagers, where appeal to any stereotype or breaking any social norm would be funny and interesting to watch. Most of these kids have grown up by now, matured, and developed a lot more nuanced understanding of the world, which in turn makes simply using slurs seem dumb, rather than comedic. I am willing to bet money that if filthy frank content dropped in 2023, it would be just as successful as it was back in the day
Just like the big bang. The Wild west of the evergrowing internet 2000s-2015 was the best it could've been. Until it went a little wild and bloated to the point where everyone felt Too Free and unchecked. Hence the peak of cringe content just zoomed out. And with how Free they were to express how cringe they are, it also attracted their kryptonite. I hate leafy now, but when I was a kid and seeing how he made fun on most of the people he made video of. You kinda have that in you that those he made fun of deserved it. One of those is the Vegan guy embracing his intrusive thoughts, cringe furries, the girl who does it to her dog and proud of it, people doing unnecessary shit, and some large guy eating food in the most disgusting and exaggerated way possible. You can see why I subbed to that guy back then (When I was a naive kid lmao). Now you can't even describe people on what they are or in the way they want to. It's the polar opposite of what it was were and I kinda hate it tbh.
2017 was the year the censorship came down hard. Uncensored content got to the point where people were starting to openly speak about Jewish power, Race and IQ, Gay/Trans ideology, etc. Specifically after the Charlottesville rally, any criticism of the Judeo-Globalist establishment was seen as a threat and shut down. The "end of edgy UA-cam" was collateral damage through demonetization. The rise of streaming also made putting effort into filming and editing videos obsolete when content creators could get instant dopamine and money from superchats.
God im so happy this era of judging people is over. Now we get brainmelt sensory overload videos trying to sell products and shit influencer merch to kids, oh but we still judge people and try to hound them off the internet, just not using no no words, way more maturity indeed. What an upgrade....
Wow this video essay is super well put together, love your voice and narration style/ sense of humor. I have no idea how this was recommended to me at 200+ views, but I'm super glad it was. I was into a lot of the youtubers (besides leafy) in this vid, so it was jusr super entertaining to hear someone elses thoughts on all that. Great vid hope it gets more exposure
Those were the days. Tbh seeing what idubbz, leafy and h3h3 turned into, I feel like Joji made the best decision to quit YT. I miss the old times, even leafy's copycats, like Pyrocinical. Back then it seemed like they had fun doing that.
You really think ER is unironically racist? Lmao... Gee I wonder how a racist might wind up as a fan of THE MOST POPULAR UA-camR... Must be because he made some racist jokes. Not by sheer statistical inevitability.
Great vid Laiser. Even as a kid when I used to watch this content, I feel like I was forcing myself to find the “dark humour” (played out racism) funny because it was what was common and you were a “snowflake” even if you simply didn’t find it funny because of how overused it was. Can’t say I didn’t find idubbbz entertaining at some point but he grew up and reaped what he sowed. A fan base of basement dwelling man children who refuse to grow out of their pre-teens.
Well yeah, he had a point: the edgy era of UA-cam is still problematic, despite me founding this era since the pandemic. I mean good thing we prefer the MLG era than this crap, and good thing many of them didn't wanna come back to this era.
This era of UA-cam will never come back unless the opinions of Twitter Andy's are disregarded as a whole, Hollywood and online media are affected by Twitter's hate mob therefore for the time being is impossible for it to come back without it crumbling.
the transition to the edgy era started in June 2015, entered it in August or September 2015. and the transition out of it started in September 2017 and we were out of it by December or November 2017.
I can't believe I wasted my time watching some of that (the "edgy" YT), I don't think I even enjoyed it, but I couldn't help watching out of curiosity. Anyway, good video EntLaiser 👍

This was a great reminiscing look back on UA-cam and I honestly couldn't agree more with the points you bring up!

We'll see.
libtard.

h3's fall was quite abysmal as well
it was fun while it lasted, when we were edgy teens, but now that most are in their 20s now with jobs and starting up their lives, its pretty good this way

I'd say it was specifically Late 2017, making 2017 pretty much the last year of the edgy era
Here before this blows up for no reason
@rootatnite bruh

The "era of judging people" never died. It just changes to whoever is acceptable to make fun of.
UA-cam fucking died in 2015 dude like fr. I swear before that time people did yt for fun, now it all about the money.
Would agree that I don’t want to go back to 2017 UA-cam I want to go back to 2011-2013 UA-cam

I don't care about the snowflakes. Bring this back people back than they just move on

Also known as back when UA-cam was good
Got the whole school table laughing
Speak for yourself
@@Manuel71 Actually, I gave him the mic. Learn to see.
Back when UA-cam was able to take risks
true
Funny thing is i knew about all these people but i never watched any of them
*Is it really?..*
Yeah dawg
You really think ER is unironically racist? Lmao...
Gee I wonder how a racist might wind up as a fan of THE MOST POPULAR UA-camR...
Must be because he made some racist jokes. Not by sheer statistical inevitability.
No non-racist person has cause to re-upload their video to BitChute so they can include a speech by Hitler in their review of Steven Universe.
Nice
Truly the west has fallen….
true, feels like people got too soft
(too too soft)
we're fucked ._.
are you a victim?
just bad takes
Old UA-cam was the best
