unfortunately no. we rely heavily on fundraisers, boosters, etc because our school funds the sports teams more. it's honestly all about just being on top of what you're doing while playing and just being aware, money can't buy talent
Is nobody going to talk about the crispy hand to hand in the background after the set break at 2:32 ish I mean I know it's not them idk who it is but it's crisp lol
I don’t understand. How is is that this high school just HAPPENS to have such talented players? Where I come from, the talent gap is enormous and this could never be pulled off.
I feel like the staff and students created an environment where there is an high expectation. At this point most of the kids joining know what there getting into.
High school!!!!!!!!!?????? What the hell kind of performance enhancers does this school put in the milk??? Seriously, the kids are bad ass! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Question, do most of these kids grow up in the Chino Hills school system or do they move there to be a part of the great program? Just wondering if the talent is home grown or imported...
billn911 I highly doubt a family is gonna move just so their kids can participate in wgi. I wish they would but I think chino hills is just an incredibly musical area being in the SoCal region where 70% of world groups hail from.
MrChickenFace 1 It’s a mentality. You are supposed to look intimidating at a Drumline, not lame and unprideful. Also, maybe there’s nothing wrong with being good and knowing you’re good
I'm going to be that one guy, but if you have to have a line of toms (not tenors) then you are not very smart. they look sad. anyone who is put on a tom drum looks like shit, honestly, its pretty much just so you can at least march. Our high school used a cymbal line which looks not nearly as sad and actually has a purpose, and the tom drums can't even be heard. If you run a high school line and decide to march toms, either you don't know how sad they are, or you just want to be able to say to the people on them that they're marching a drum.
EpicMem what do they do when freshmen come in? “Oh hello here’s a crazy snare/tenor/bass part. So what if you’re not prepared for it and have to march an intense show that matches top WGI shows on top of that?” What are they suppose to do with the excess members? Cut them? Most of them probably didn’t want to play flubs in the long run but had to start somewhere. Watch as some of the flubline moves onto bass, quads, or snare this upcoming year. You can’t hear it but it has a purpose.
First of all, sadness was pretty much a main emotion of this show. But having toms on a line isn’t just about people being happy, that’s not what it’s about. It’s about getting better and learning / building chops as you go. Not everything about it is going to be fun, and that’s basically a life lesson. Just because it’s not fun, doesn’t mean it’s not important
What an insane set player. He did that first crazy section with the back of his sticks and it was piss clean.
Christian Sizer this is amazing.
Drumset player taking over the whole show

Makes sense, west coast does have a cluster of good programs in one state. Kind of like Texas for the central region.
the talent is usually home grown but this year we had a guy come from Georgia for tenors and another gut from Utah for cymbals.
Id just imagine its such a big school and they only take the best of the best from their high school
its probably mostly in area. chino hills is a massive public school in cali so its natural in that environment they would attract a lot of talent
does anyone know what the flub drums sound like im kinda curious to know
like how a set of flubs sound in general orrrr?
Noah Messick it sounds like a "diet tenor" for drum 4 we marched them this year for our show
Noah Messick groups usually pack them crazy full of foam so they're really muffled and basically can't be heard
The Snake is Cut ok thanks
Someone probably already replied lol. But they sound like, someone has put wet towels on a tenor drum. There isnt really a pitch
chicks on the marimbas are on it
2017 wgi was way better than this year..........
roblox jail breaks Wym wgi? As in every group overall or did you mean just Chino Hills?
